Hey,
I've decided to take the plunge and send Barrak here into Lowsec to cause, and get into, some mischief.
Not sure what I'll be doing or how I'll be doing it but I imagine that it will involve losing some security standing and possibly faction standing too.
I have a few questions on how this all works and how, if required, I recover from the losses at a later date.
- If I 'Pirate' it for a while and lose a lot of security standing, do I also lose Faction standing or is this limited only to shooting faction NPC and being in a FW corp?
- How do I quickly recover security standings and how expensive can it be?
- If I have very low security, am I able to enter highsec in a pod, get ship and get out without being concored or blownup
Regards

you can fly around in pods in highsec npc's wont pod you, also fast interceptors work wouldnt try anything bigger or slower, you can enter highsec but you are criminal and can be shot by anyone, you can also still dock (watch out for the pesky instalocking dock huggers).
highsec is overrated...
you can gain sec status by shooting npc's or buying tags (which can be pretty expensive).
best thing to do is join a corp and take advantage of the logistics they provide, most of them seed the markets also so i see no need in going to highsec personally

As far as I know, you won't be getting standing hits. Only exception worth mentioning is messing with FW NPCs.

1) as I pirate you should only lose sec status , you certainly can lose faction standing but just try not to shoot empire faction npcs and you should be fine.
2) from -10 it's about 100mill (in tags) back to 0 last I checked but I could be way of on that. fairly straightforward though, give CONCORD tags and isk, get sec status back to 0 , yo get it higher you need to grind.
2) yes, provided you don't loiter around you should be fine, though other players can engage you freely once you are below -5 I think

You only lose faction standing if you join a fw corp or shoot faction npc.
You can enter hs in a pod without being bothered by npc.
You can increase sec status shooting the clone soldier type npc who spawn in low sec belts, collecting the tags they drop and trading them to certain Concord low sec stations in exchange for status; or you can buy those tags from the market if isk isn't a problem.
-8 sec status to 0 will cost you around 90-100mill worth clone soldier tags.

ah... good.
So I can freely at FW pilots and not get faction hits (providing I'm not in one of the factions)?
Steer clear of Faction NPC?
If I want to recover I have to shoot rats? I take it those are of the 'belt' variety?
Out of curiosity, do you get many Electronic Warfare pilots in lowsec? (May be impossible to answer).

Oh and you can easily avoid th3 facpo in battleships, if you put inertia stabs on it and don't go above 0.8 sec. Warp to instaundock, warp to gate to low, jump out. Mobile depot or docking for refitting and you're fine.
Thanks!
Had the name for years in multiple MMO's. First was Ultima..... can remember fully where I got the name but I think it was a David Eddings book. I think there was a gruff stumpy warrior..... and a quick google later. I can confirm that was where I got it. Though I believe it was with just one R.
I'm just trying to work out logistics. I can courier stuff out but don't really want to do that until I settle on a few cheap fittings.

Barrak wrote:If I 'Pirate' it for a while and lose a lot of security standing, do I also lose Faction standing or is this limited only to shooting faction NPC and being in a FW corp? There is a standing penalty if you shoot other players who are in NPC corps. It's noticeable most when you pod people as there is a 75% standing penalty to that corp (I'm not sure if it impacts the faction standing as well).
Barrak wrote:How do I quickly recover security standings and how expensive can it be? Repairing sec status Faction standing repair plan If you buy tags from the market and hand them in at a Concord station, last time I checked it worked out around 200m to go from -10 to 0
Barrak wrote:If I have very low security, am I able to enter highsec in a pod, get ship and get out without being concored or blownup You can travel through highsec in a pod but there are a lot of gatecamping smartbombers in lowsec so you may get caught at entry/exit points. As far as I know it's the Faction Police rather than Concord who will aggress criminal players and you can outrun them in a stabbed frig. Once you get -5 or below you can be aggressed by any player so it's risky to move anything slow through highsec - all they need to do is point you and wait for FacPo to arrive. If you need to get into highsec for new ships and mods it's worth just training a basic hauler alt with neutral sec.

Yes, but you will get a hit in standings with NPC corps if you kill their members. This might affect your ability to join a FW corps at a latter stage and/or run FW missions.
Barrak wrote:If I want to recover I have to shoot rats? I take it those are of the 'belt' variety?
Takes forever. Hunt Clone soldier rats in belts, collect the tags, exchange for sec status in Concord security offices
Barrak wrote:Out of curiosity, do you get many Electronic Warfare pilots in lowsec? (May be impossible to answer).
Yes, especially in the form of Rooks in medium FW complexes.

Had a roam mate spend 90-100 mil last week on tags in Jita to increase sec status form -8 to 0 so it is pretty recent. Prices might change and vary in time but even if they drop a little the ascending trend set by plex prices will force them to grow back up.
About ewar being used by fw players the answer is plenty and variate. Being low sec you'll even have the surprise of local players reshipping very fast in dedicated ewar ships because there are plenty of stations around.

About the only thing mentioned is if you do shoot NPCs for standing the skill Fast Talk will raise your sec status faster.
But yeah tags are cheaper, easier and faster. Being -10 isnt what it used to be.
Strength isnt measured in numbers but in force of will. For if one motived willful individual stands many will fall around him that are weak.

Pirates don't lose faction. If you just shoot ships you can go a long time. Don't shoot pods if you want to keep sec status.
Fastest way is tags. You only need to get back to -1.99 to fly through all empire without being attacked. You can allow it even lower if you just go into Hek or somewhere to buy ships. The tags get exponentially more expensive the closer to zero you go, so if you're doing this often then maybe buy the cheap tags and rat the rest up. |

last time I wanted to recover my sec I bought tags to go from -10 to -5 then just ratted my sec up from there.
easy to afk sec status in a 0.5 system. get up to -4.5, jump in an ishtar, pull a mission, launch some light drones, and orbit at 100km. now that sec updates every 5 mins it goes up super fast.

Hey,
Just for clarification. To go from -2.0 to 0.0 is more expensive (tags) than going from -4.0 to -2.0?.
It wouldn't surprise me as the lower end data centre tags are more expensive than the high ends.
I assume then that if perhaps I ransom pods or don't kill many I can bounce, fairly cheaply, between -8.0 and -1.99?
