Hi guys, im new to the game and have finally settled on minmatar as my race of choice. To begin with i will be sticking with their ships as for some reason i kind of like their clapped out looks :)
Anyway, I understand that minnies both armour and shield tank. Would someone be so kind as to list which key ships for each ship class fall into each tanking style so i have an idea of which tanking method to progress in first, based on my ships of choice.
This would be of great help to me as for the time being, i intend to settle on a tanking style and pick ships that are in keeping with it, to make my progression more rapid.
Thanks.

Minmatar? Tanking? LOL?
TBH, Minmatar don't tank well. There are a few ships that can, but most aren't the best by a longshot. -Wrayeth "Look, pa! I just contributed absolutely nothing to this thread!"

Edited by: Siakel on 02/12/2006 03:21:34 Oh, of course not.
Jaguar, Claw, Rupture, Hurricane, Cyclone, Sleipnir, Claymore, Maelstrom, Typhoon, Tempest, certainly no Minmatar ship can tank.
At least, if you listen to the Minnies. All of the above ships can tank very well, and one of Minmatar's biggest strengths(IMO) is that these ships can also do great damage while having said tank.
Edited to add Claw.

Edited by: Scagga Laebetrovo on 02/12/2006 04:12:46 There is an incredible passive rifter tank possible. Get your skills up to fit this on a rifter:
mids include: Medium shield extender, small shield extender one scrambler
Lows include: as many shield relays as you can fit (may require aux power as well)
Fiddle with the setup. Having a frigate passive shield recharge rate when you have 2000 shields is very cheap way of keeping your ship alive for longer when engaged as a disposable 'first' tackler.

armor
typhoon rupture wolf rifter claw stiletto
shield
jaguar sleipnir/claymore cyclone maelstrom vagabond
either
Tempest (usually armor) stabber huginn/rapier bellicose hurricane (sheild is for speed fit, armor for tank) muninn
ofc ships such as the thrasher etc is pointless to tank, but thats a kinda brief look for you to what to aim for in pvp
in general armor tanks free up your mods for ewar mods, mwd, ab etc allowing you to solo better, so decde what you want your ship to do and look for the best setup for that "minmatar got the shaft again? sure ill bend over right away" |
