Hello, I just reactivated my Mining alt and i was wondering about the mining missions: do you make more isk mining missions then mining in belts, and more importantly, do you get a loss in standing doing these missions like you get in security missions? |

Standing losses may come from: 1) Shooting NPCs belonging to corps. Maybe you will have to shoot belt rats, I dunno. 2) Derived standing loss - you may gain standings with faction you mission for and thus you will lose some with factions that dislike the former.
As for whether it's worth the hassle to do regular mining missions... Probably not, but you can easily find out. Just request one and compare what you get from it against what you can sell required materials for.

AFAIK Mining missions are among the least profitable activities in eve. station spinning is the only thing that earns less income by time spent.
Mining Missions generally require you to collect 'special ores' which serve no purpose elsewhere in the game. Mining at regular Asteroid Belts or Anomalies is more profitable to the best of my knowledge.
If your looking to raise standings, and not very 'combat worthy' Distribution Missions will be a much better choice.
As for standing loss, yes it will happen. If you fail to complete the mission in time. If you destroy 'empire faction' ships within the mission area If you complete a Storyline Mission
nb Once you have completed 16 mining missions, you will be offered a Storyline Mission This could be a 'Security' Mission |

Done right mining mission farming is the most profitable thing you can do in highsec.
Check this guys blog for how he does it. His buisness posts are some of the best in the game, espec for a new player just starting out and struggling to earn that 2 billion isk a month to plex both of your accounts. Yes you should have 2 accts. minimum.

Unfortunately your first 2 paragraphs aren't true as they are very profitable if set up right and belt mining requires more attention and is far riskier.
To raise standings yes dist missions are better. I'm actually a distribtion mission runner, but thats just because I enjoy doing it while watching net flicks. I'm funny that way. It provides just the right level of interaction for me while I munch popcorn and watch dinosaurs eat people.

Mining Mission Info
eve survival mining mission info ... such as what it is .. very little in the way of $/LP details Gas harvesting & Asteroid Mining are definitely required, not sure if the Ice Mining skill is as well.
the info I did see was 4k LP with around 2m ISK Combat Missions with rewards on that scale typically also have npc bounties of up to 20m, + loot & salvage of up to 20m
I still think for a newer player with lower mining skills, Distribution missions would be a better option, or regular belt mining Where to Mine

I like L4 mining missions for building corp standings more than endless numbers of distribution missions (for refining). There is no standings loss on individual missions, only derived faction standing losses for storyline missions.
I think the isk is better for regular mining than mission mining because the LP items for mission corps tend to be limited compared to the security corporations. They do have the learning implants if you want some of those. The link provided above from Gevlon uses a unique pirate corp that may not be convenient for you.
The big advantage of mining missions is AFK. Because the asteroids tend to be so big you will be mining one rock for much longer. They also seem to attract less attention from gankers.
There are about 6 L4 missions. The gas and ice mining missions are the ones you want for maximum LP/hour/effort.
You can also do a search to find information about mining asteroids inside regular security missions.

btw when I first started before I nearly made myself quit eve forever by over mining beyond my tolerance, I found that mission mining was the best way to do it. Belt mining I was harrassed by gankers blowing up my ventures and by douchbags in giant barges coming and mining *my* rock. ignoring all the others free in space. Then they would gobble it all up before I got any reasonable amount of ore then proceed to do the same with the next rock I chose. Thats just rude and it got me ganking that I can tell you!
So I found a mission with a decent amount of veldspar and pyro behind 2 accel gates in a 0.8 system (no rats). I cleared out the mission in a combat ship every day after it reset (after downtime) then I mined it out in peace and sold the ore. Eventually the mission timed out and I couldn't make myself keep mining after that as I had found distribution missions as my little niche.

As stated in 'The Plan', I definitely encourage completing level 3 Distribution Missions to gain Corporation standing. Players can have multiple Distribution Missions active which can be completed easily and quickly, thus gaining more Corporation standing verses time spent doing the missions.
However, while I was working 'The Plan' I found that running Distribution Missions isn't always a viable option, depending on Agent locations for that Corporation. As such, a good alternative to gain Corporation standing for non-combat characters would be Mining Missions.
Whenever needed I worked Level 3 Mining Missions with Corporations to build up standing. I even posted comments in Eve-Survival:Mission Reports. There was only one level 3 Mining Mission I declined and that was due to not being skilled to mine Ice.
By the way, when I need Ore for Minerals to build something, I reference the same app that Kitty Bear linked :
http://eve-online.itemdrop.net/eve_db/universe/search/
I also reference this app to view type and amount of Minerals contained within the various Ores :

Yes, there are also Ice mining missions. Those and the gas ones are the ones that pay most and take the least time to complete.
