I am using a Hurricane to try to do this mission. [Hurricane, run] Gyrostabilizer II Gyrostabilizer II Armor Kinetic Hardener I Armor Thermic Hardener I Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane I Medium Armor Repairer I
10MN Afterburner II Cap Recharger II Tracking Computer I Cap Recharger II
720mm 'Scout' Artillery I - Carbonized Lead M 720mm 'Scout' Artillery I - Carbonized Lead M 720mm 'Scout' Artillery I - Carbonized Lead M 720mm 'Scout' Artillery I - Carbonized Lead M 720mm 'Scout' Artillery I - Carbonized Lead M 720mm 'Scout' Artillery I - Carbonized Lead M
Medium Auxiliary Nano Pump I Medium Ancillary Current Router I
Hobgoblin II x5
EMP M x2543 Carbonized Lead M x5435
I notice that the npc warps in at 48 km so I try to move closer, but then the storm comes. They attack me with 50 points of damage way too fast. They shred through my armor tank.
I looked up there ship and (I think) They use kinetic and thermal damage, so I grabbed some tanks and the carbonized lead for range, went back out hoping this would work.
nope.
any advice? |

This may help some. http://eve-survival.org/wikka.php?wakka=GoodWord3
You do not mention skills or length of time you have been in the game, those are factors that could affect suggestions given.
Never flown a Hurricane so I am basically guessing here and hoping someone with actual Hurricane experience comes along soon.
Replacing the adaptive nano with another mission specific hardener may help, try a second kinetic. As a general I like the nano as a third hardener but sometimes you just need a little more.
Replace the Hobs with Hornets they will be more effective since they shoot into the resists hole of the NPC.
Never been much for artillery in missions because of slower tracking and long cycle times. In many cases the auto canon can out DPS artillery due to fast cycle times and tend to have better tracking as well allowing them to better apply the damage.
Use Titanium Sabot ammo, it has the highest kinetic damage of all the projectile ammo types.
If you can change out the current router rig for a nanobot accelerator that would increase your armor reps effectiveness. switching to the auto canon may help here as they tend to use less power grid.
Friends is the ultimate answer to these problems, do you have someone that can help you complete this mission? |

Just throwing out some additional ideas:
Replace hardeners with best named types you can afford until you can get T2. Drop the gyros for a bigger tank, fit a plate for more buffer if you can. Downside is that it will take longer to complete mission but better than constantly having to warp out. Train up your armor skills. As they improve, you can scale back your fitted tank for more gank.
Also, don't approach the rats, make them come to you. Align away from them towards a station or planet to stretch them (and their DPS) out behind you. Can be a bit of a pain for looting afterwards though. Not sure what the optimal for 720 artilleries is but keep rats at that range or even half into falloff. |

Not sure if you have trained shield skills, but I prefer passive tank cane for beginners.
[Hurricane, Shield] Gyrostabilizer II Gyrostabilizer II Beta Reactor Control: Shield Power Relay I Beta Reactor Control: Shield Power Relay I Tracking Enhancer II Tracking Enhancer II
10MN Afterburner II Limited Kinetic Deflection Field I Limited Thermic Dissipation Field I Large F-S9 Regolith Compact Shield Extender
720mm 'Scout' Artillery I, Carbonized Lead M 720mm 'Scout' Artillery I, Carbonized Lead M 720mm 'Scout' Artillery I, Carbonized Lead M 720mm 'Scout' Artillery I, Carbonized Lead M 720mm 'Scout' Artillery I, Carbonized Lead M 720mm 'Scout' Artillery I, Carbonized Lead M [empty high slot]
Medium Core Defense Field Purger I Medium Core Defense Field Purger I Medium Core Defense Field Purger I
This passively tanks almost twice as much as your fit. Grid might be tight depending on your skills so if you can't quite fit this, you can use a medium extender instead and still be tanking more than you were before. This also has slightly better range and tracking.
Also, your short ranged ammo should be Phased Plasma instead of EMP
