The Empress undocked in the Avatar Class Titan, EF Seraph, from the Emperor Family Academy in Amarr to Sarum Prime under escort from 4 Aeon Super Carriers and 2 Revelation Dreadnaughts.
The occasion was to commemorate the Drifter Armada Battleship invasion where Amarr loyalist capsuleers together with allies, vanquished the invaders in the name of Amarr.
Below, you will find logs of what transpired further.
Quote: [19:54:19] Jamyl Sarum I > Pilots loyal to the Amarr Empire, we come together at this location today, observed by the watchful eyes of God, not to celebrate a victory for his chosen children, not to mark an anniversary, but to remember. [19:54:44] Jamyl Sarum I > To remember, that a little over seven years ago the wreckage scattered before your eyes still burned, was still fresh. [19:55:08] Jamyl Sarum I > The aftermath of a battle that changed the course of history for the Empire and her citizens, the lordGÇÖs chosen children, charged with enlightening those who have not yet found salvation. [19:55:42] Jamyl Sarum I > July 10th, YC110 was a day on which the Empire delivered a decisive message. A message that echoed through every cloister, hall, and atrium of New Eden in one voice. His voice. [19:56:03] Jamyl Sarum I > The message was absolute. His will shall be obeyed. His bidding shall be done, and his might shall be expressed through the actions of his chosen people. The Amarr. [19:56:33] Jamyl Sarum I > Those who are enlightened shall ascend. Those who step into the light shall be redeemed, the sins of their past cleansed, so that they may know salvation. [19:57:00] Jamyl Sarum I > Those who oppose the will of God, those who burn the olive branch extended to them by the Lord, those who do not seek enlightenment, shall be condemned. [19:57:14] Jamyl Sarum I > They shall be punished, and shall drown in their own blood. [19:57:31] Jamyl Sarum I > Seven years ago we witnessed the LordGÇÖs hand at work, when those who chose to defy His will were punished for their indiscretions. [19:58:04] Jamyl Sarum I > The Lord spoke, and blasted a hole so large in their racial memory that they will not dare again to tread foot on these hallowed grounds. [19:58:21] Jamyl Sarum I > We continue to protect our borders from the unjustified aggression from the Republic, as their warmongering leader continues to beat the drums of war. [19:58:51] Jamyl Sarum I > We continue to provide for our people, GodGÇÖs chosen, as those who attempt to defy the Lord continue to fail in their attacks on our way of life. [19:59:36] Jamyl Sarum I > Today however, we face a new threat. A threat far greater than the foolish aspirations of a lesser race who remain unwilling to accept their true place as servants of His will. [20:00:04] Jamyl Sarum I > A threat not created of the LordGÇÖs work. An abomination that reared its head as one of our oldest and most valued capsuleer loyalist organizations, Curatores Veritatis Alliance, celebrated while at ease from combat duty.

I was present at the entire event. I must say that I find it...unsettling...that after acknowledging and agreeing to cease and desist the Gnosis vessel piloted by Matshi Raish was destroyed regardless, and as it was retreating no less.
I am curious as to if his claim that he was operating legally is legitimate. If only CONCORD was doing its job and released the Yulai convention documents, we would know.
As far as I am aware, scanning a vessel is a common and harmless practice. Are there extraneous circumstances that led the Amarr to believe their leader was in danger? Even if so, with a Titan and numerous capitals present, the Gnosis posed no threat, and instead of taking the vessel and pilot into custody, it was decided to destroy him instead, not only committing a possible murder, but putting his cloned self out of your reach...smart.

I'm afraid the usual attempts at making questionable actions disappear by simply denying people the right to question them doesn't work in international and neutral fora. Questioning and discussing such things is usually considered the norm among civilized people. I'm sure you'll find yourselves rising to such capacities given another few hundred years of contact with us.
Long story short, even if you're not capable of grasping such concepts, even your leaders of state can turn out to be flawed creatures with nasty secrets that wouldn't sit well with New Eden at large.
Or even you. |

Someone please clear up the following for me:
CONCORD governs interactions between capsuleers to keep us in check
Jamyl is a capsuleer
Jamyl ordered the destruction (nice way to keep her own hands clean here) of a non-criminal capsuleer vessel.
This is clearly in contravention of the usual DED criminal activities. Were the bodyguards who fired upon the non-criminal vessel treated with the usual response by CONCORD?
If not why?, If so then the one who commanded the destruction of the vessel is also equally culpable.
Actions such as this and the attitude of the 'Empress' (lesser race indeed...) make me wonder whether when any Drifter invasion comes I should bloody well give them a hand. |

Jamyl Sarum is de facto comparable to a state military capsuleer (and not a freelance one), and a chief of state.
Sovereign authorities have the precedence over who is to be considered free to shoot at on their territory, ultimately. The exact same process happened in Colelie and during Operation Highlander. |

Without detailed economic analysis and opening up CONCORD's books, because somewhere between 25 and 27% of CONCORD's funding likely comes from the Amarr Empire. They're not going to actually open up on any military from any of the Signatories. Hell, the Caldari shot down one of their battleships and their response was to advise people maybe they shouldn't go poke at the titan.
CONCORD is trying very much to be the power that dictates terms of engagement to other powers... but when the Empires stare back at them without blinking, CONCORD and the DED know who pays their salaries.
Jamyl Sarum could've personally hopped into a Punisher and flown around having her minions kill all non-Amarr vessels so she could pod them with her own small lasers, strapped all the biomass to her bow plates, and danced around merrily lighting the corpses on fire one by one, and CONCORD would have decided there was nothing wrong with that. |

I am more interested in parsing the theological content of the Empress's statements.
I was most drawn to the following (emphasis added): [19:59:36] Jamyl Sarum I > Today however, we face a new threat. A threat far greater than the foolish aspirations of a lesser race who remain unwilling to accept their true place as servants of His will.
Note well: the Empress has officially called the Minmatar a lesser race. Interesting.
Overall, the message was less wayward and liberal than I have come to expect from the present day Empire. Indeed, I was pleased to find an allusion to one of my favorite Scriptures (emphasis added): [19:57:14] Jamyl Sarum I > They shall be punished, and shall drown in their own blood.
I did, however, note one theological error: [19:56:33] Jamyl Sarum I > Those who are enlightened shall ascend. Those who step into the light shall be redeemed, the sins of their past cleansed, so that they may know salvation.
In this statement, the Empress makes too easy and perhaps too broadly available the cleansing of sins and salvation, leaving out the importance of blood sacrifice and not excluding the Minmatar.
Still, it could have been worse. Amen. Amarr Victor. |

First of all the Empress does not make mistakes you should not second guess her or try to correct her it is extremely bad and heretical.
Secondly any race besides Amarr by religion is lesser in the eyes of God which are the only eyes that count.
Someone who is Minmatar will probably not convert but they can if they want to and they are no longer lesser, but they still must find their place in God's Kingdom, which means obeying their betters and working through the path God gives them. |

Unfortunately in this case, the navy personnel in attendance appear to have declared Raish's vessel 'suspect' prior to the mob attacking him. This act negated the standard CONCORD threat response.
Not indicative of corporate policy unless otherwise stated.

Something to consider here is what angle is SOCT playing? Obviously the jovians are at odds with the amarr, and the basic understanding about the sleepers (and subsequently the drifters), is that they're an offshoot race of the Jovians.
We are still in the dark about Caroline's Star. For all we know, there could be a coup or civil war going on in jove space, and it's likely we'll see a full-scale war between the drifters and the Amarr. Jamyl IS hiding something, that much is not in dispute. We have to remember that her interests are vested in the Amarr Empire, and NOT the larger interstellar community.
Despite my positive relations with the Empire and the Kingdom, i am appalled at this incident. I can certainly understand such a high-level procession being paranoid about security, and to be fair they DID give multiple warnings. However, it is NOT in the nature of the jove to outright lie in such a public event, and it MUST be assumed that the legality of his actions were true in the absence of any relevant data from Concord, since logically he would not have attempted such a risky public action without the law behind him. Jamyl obviously will not be prosecuted nor should any charges be brought against her, but the hostile response to a simple scan broadcasts her guilt louder than anything she could have said in local. |
