I have seen some mixed things about this topic so I was hoping I could have some light shed on this. Do I need an 8.0 standing from the FDU to create a jump clone? Also, can I only get standing from FW missions or do I get it from plexing as well? |

Apparently the standings check for jumpclones is buggy(and by buggy I mean not functional) right now,
As far as I have been informed you don't actually need them currently and can just goa and make them, I haven't tested this though.

How does it normally work? |

Normally you would need the standings you mentioned, I don't believe you currently do.

Heh, not even close. Do you get standing for plexing or is it only through the FW missions? |

You asked two questions and Ralph answered the first. I can confirm that he is right on this, I have created jump clones on several of my alts that have no standings.
As to the second question, I have no idea as I haven't been involved in FW (though I'm tempted to give it a try for that reason :) ) |

I have a character who participates in FW. I can confirm that you gain standings from plexes and from FW missions. |

Here is a table for FW standings.
And yes, jump clone away, I've tested it

OK back to the OP question. Although it may not be important now, or in fact may have changed so take this as it is intended a description of how it was.
You have to have a personal standing of 8.0 or higher towards an NPC to get jump clones. Alternatively if the player corp you are in has 8.0 oir higher standings towards an NPC that would qualify you for jump clones as well. If either of these applies then all you have to do is go to a stationed owned by that NPC that has med bay and you can install your clone. |

In addition to the above; the entire jump clone standing requirements, although redundant for now, can also be bypassed by temporarily joining a corp like Estel Arador Corp Services; they have the required standings, and offer a service which allows you put a jump clone pretty much anywhere.
The service is offered for free, although I believe they appreciate donations.

You have to have standings with an NPC corp, not the whole empire. Stations are owned by corps, you need access at a station that has medical services, so you need the standings with an NPC corp that owns medical service stations.
As far as Estel or other player corporations that do this, they're taking advantage of the fact that it takes a while for standings to get updated. They already have the standings to get jump clones, and it will take 7 days from when you join for your crappy standings to get averaged into the corp standings. So you can join, get your clones quick (using the unblemished standings that Estel has), then leave before you blemish them, so to speak.
If it's currently bugged, nevermind, but for the future, once they fix the bug, this is how it usually works. |

EDIT: You can achieve 8.0 with any NPC corp by grinding regular missions and declining "important/storyline" missions - only your corp standings increase, and there are no corresponding decreases with "enemy empires" because you're not affecting your empire standings in any way.

I can confirm it is in fact bugged. I created a jump clone last night several times with, well, not 8.0 standing.

That answers that then.. It should eradicate hours of pointless mission running and allow more time to do what we want to do, as in PVP etc.
As a noob, I thought the whole standing bit with JC's was daft and a waste of time, even though getting a JC was tactically and strategically important.
It frees up time for so many other and more interesting things.
