It's not for no reason that CCP says players who get killed early are more likely to both get involved with the larger game and resub. Conflict drives better retention. I just wonder when we'll be able to knock off the trumped up moral panic and accept these facts.
come on dont play that card, some of those players are getting killed like 5 times in the space of 4 minutes dont be so naive to think thats keeping retention up.
gets pointless arguing anymore so im gonna leave it at that. its not nice to kill noobs so leave them alone

BS argument anyway.
CCP explained that newbro killing has no big negative effect, ,but that does not mean it has a positive effect on retention. omg in eve forums you will get the most idi--c , i mean "naive" arguments one can imagine.

Pretty sure that once the 'player retention', 'subscription numbers' and 'think of the children' cards were already played that most other stuff is about fair game right about now.
Half this thread anymore is just a continuation of ongoing verbal boxing matches, and the other half is pretty much folks trying to shame us.

However, if this is a true story one can only shake ones head.
Respect for those newbros who stay anyway! And for those killboard jerks:

Grrr that Vegan line is mine, CCP please copyright! The one I like a little better is the feminist deciding to play Grand Theft Auto and becoming shocked and appalled at all the Ho slapping going on lol. |

Pretty much. I hope the ones we convert over to the dark side stay, but that's really dependent on them and whether or not this turns out to be the game for them. We'll do what we can to turn them into little murder machines. If they get into it and run with it, that's super cool. If not, well, then I hope they stay in EVE, or at least barring that find a game that suits them.
Newbros can make a difference. Our current CEO distinguished himself within a month or so of joining us by going on a frankly impressive spree of bear murdering, despite actually being only a few months old at the time. I have a great deal of respect for him, as being old and cranky it's really hard work to try and keep up with the young and motivated.

Noobs deserve everything that happens to them. Newbies, on the other hand, should be nutured - they're the game's future.

And for the two you so valiantly "saved" a whole bunch, who never had the chance to get used to the game in the first place, give up because "fck this ****". Many of those would never have become "true EVE players" but also many will never be converted to it either. So your hilariously obvious "nono, for the betterment of the game" is just nonsense.
P.s. I'm talking to a, now ex, member of that corp atm. He's been in there 8 days and doesn't even know how to fit his Punisher, he's been flying around in a hull repped crucifier with lasers on it while hiding in Minmatar space. He's NEW, he knows fck all. Those are the puppies you kick. |

You almost gave me a sad there.
Here's the thing. I may be one of the few DWA guys left who still occasionally flips missions. As a result you'll find that on any casual inspection that my favored target is MTU's by a vast margin. It's true. The fastest way to a pve battleship pilot's frozen corpse is their MTU. Truth is I hate shooting the damned things. I feel dirty doing so, because to me it's a fake kill. However, if I really really cared about my killboard I'd be dry humping these things every day in hopes of getting another Raven or Maelstrom or ANY marauder(omgomgomg) to pull the trigger on my ishkur.
Shooting noobies in the face? Not the same. It's work. Someone paid for harm to be done, so harm shall be done. If we can recruit some out of the wreckage to join us, be it for revenge upon us or to learn to do harm to others, then that's a WIN.
Not overly concerned about the judgement of others when it comes down to this. A merc who wont try to kill the targets he's been paid to is a pretty lousy merc. I understand that there are those who feel differently. That really doesn't factor into my decision making however.

You just convinced me, that the story might be true. Young and motivated and only able to kill a lot of hamsters instead hunting for lions.

Good lord, what have I created??
If I could lock this thread I would. The GMs aren't going to reveal what action they take if any, so there's nothing else to discuss. |

Thorlund Amatin wrote:Edit: this matter is now under GM investigation. Move along, nothing to see.
Yesterday a new alt of mine parked in a noob system received a recruitment mail from a corp purporting to be looking for new players, which suggested the 0.0% tax rate as an incentive to join.
Their recruitment spiel set my alarm bells ringing and failed to mention that they were under wardec, so I checked them on Zkillboard:
Destroyed: 8 Lost: 518 Efficiency: 1.5%
A good 50% or so of their losses are noob T1 ships in highsec, and all of the pilots I checked were created in July.
This corp is only 5 months old, and yet it has 8 completed wars and 3 active wars. It looks to me as if this corp has been created entirely as a trap for new players so that wardeccers can get easy kills.
Is CCP ok with this?
A lot of people start the corp, wanting to create a massive army of newbies, and then real life hits, CEO leaves and the corp is without any leadership. Newbies do not know what wardec is, but they WANT to be loyal to the corp, so they stay, undock, then undock less... I've seen too many corporations like that, usually having less that 100 members, all the same age, not logging in anymore.
I don't believe wardeccers would be so lowlife that they would literally groom newbies for deaths, it's more like corpmates have been warned about wardec and they've decided to not read the mails because AFK mining is where the fun is.
Btw we recruit newbies too, during the wardec too, we usually mention it during the interview (and obviously it doesn't matter, as we live in null anyway)
