OK, I've just gotten into a Pilgrim. I've been training for it for months and months (half of my EVE career with no payoff) and now with Revalations I'm not sure how to fit it. Basically my dilemma is that I want to hunt belts in lowsec with it or kill lazy ratters and miners in 0.0. Before patch a Raven seemed to be the Pilgrims specialty 1v1, but after patch a single caldari ECM jams less than a single Multi pre-patch against Caldari. :-( While bringing the Pilgrim back into balance where Caldari are concerned as a Pilgrim pilot I need to find a way to kill these nassssty Ravens.
After testing my T2 drones w/ full bonuses against a Drake and Ferox passive tank I've decided to avoid those altogether unless I have support.
Nosdomis will leave me with too little cap to run my tank despite my neut/nos bonuses. (No real change from RMR)
Blasterthrons probly won't be able to track me but their sets of Ogres will hurt, even more so if T2. Despite being a very cap relient ship I doubt if I can tank a full set of Ogre IIs long enough to chew through a 'Thron without bonuses despite his incapacitated tank. I'll have to do some testing.
I really don't know much about Amarr or Minmitar BS. Minnies have some missles that I can't dodge with transversal and disruption, and unless I fit dual webs I doubt I can hold a Nanophoon down, plus he'll Nos more than me, Amarr sometimes do the Nos bit too.
With the overall HP buff and low drone DPS even at T2 with high skills I'm wondering if there is a BS left that the Pilgrim can solo anymore. While I will have gang support much of the time sometimes you just want to go hunting alone, y'know? And mining ships just don't make you feel warm and fuzzy after ganking em. So I was wondering if I can take out a BS solo in REV and what setup you suggest. Here is the setup I wanted pre-Rev.
High Cloak 2x best named neut (only run until enemy is out of cap) 1x best named nos (to sustain my tank off whatever the ship regens after losing cap)
Mid AB II Web, best named Scram, whatever I need to fit Turret Disruptor, best named Caldari ECM, best named
Low MAR II 800mm plate 2x Hardeners (Kinetic+Thermal) (Best named for fitting reqs until I get Recon V) 1x EANM II
Is this still a useful setup? Will switching the AB for a 2nd Caldari Jammer really help against Ravens? How long can I tank torps for with this tank? Should I fit and ECM damage mod instead of that EANM? As a rookie Pilgrim pilot I await my "education". Be gentle!

my setup is more or less identical to yours, but I'm not sure about either 2nos/1neut or yours. For medslots I fit 2 tracking disruptor instead of the caldari ecm. With good ecm skills on my char, I missed jam 10 times in a row on something with 19 sensor strenght, ecm are to much of a chanse game to have them in my setup nowdays imo. Solution is to not attack big missile boats that can break your tank --

Dunno about that jammer, it finaly got nerfed now Id prefer using 2 nos 1 neut over 2 neut 1 nos tho, othersie it looks like a decent setup, jsut pick ur enemies right.

Here is the pilgrim i'm putting together atm:
High: [ 180 | 16] 'Ditch' Medium Energy Neutralizer I [ 175 | 20] Medium Diminishing Power System Drain I [ 1 | 100] Covert Ops Cloaking Device II [ 175 | 20] Medium Diminishing Power System Drain I --------------------------------------------------------- Med: [ 1 | 32] Balmer Series Targeting Inhibitor I [ 1 | 32] Balmer Series Targeting Inhibitor I [ 150 | 25] Medium Electrochemical Capacitor Booster I [ 1 | 36] Fleeting Warp Scrambler I [ 1 | 22] Fleeting Propulsion Inhibitor I --------------------------------------------------------- Low: [ 195 | 23] Corpum A-Type Medium Armor Repairer [ 1 | 20] Shadow Serpentis Armor Kinetic Hardener [ 1 | 20] Shadow Serpentis Armor Thermic Hardener [ 2 | 30] Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II [ 2 | 30] Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II
I may tweak a thing or two, it has a demonic tank though and with the disruptors it should be the bane of turret ships.
In low sec most battleship pilotes are idiots or in a massive blob (these are populated by great numbers of idiots).
So if you see a battleship ratting in low sec, assume he will have a civillian tank and gogogo.

If you suck a matar ship out of cap his tank stops...but his guns wont and you aint getting anymore cap from him.
Basicly it's to make sure I have cap in long fights where I drain my opponents cap without stalling his guns, mostly battleships etc anything else will just go "Pooh" when you put the neut and t2 hammerheads on them.

I hope so, i'm sure as hell not going to risk my ship on it.
A cap injector is always a good addition, and you -really- dont need an after burner or mwd on a ship that spends most its time cloaked, with the webifier that's 90% it's not like you'll need it to stay in what range you want...you have no optimal :)
Also, vs caldari dont care about tracking disrupts, but with this tank you can tank a raven.

Just go for the drones first - Five T2 Meds will dispatch heavy drones quickly. Megathrons don't have that many to refill.

Well now you have to think outside the Box if you want to make the Pilgrim effektive. But thanks to the Rigs you now can use 3 Sensor damps to a similiar effect as the arazu, use st, it will damp below 10 km and you can orbit in nosrange.

Wow, thanks guys. You've given me a lot of ideas already! I love the Cap injector idea. The AB doesn't help me half as much as that and there'll be times when either my opponent will not regen me enough cap as I need to continue to run my setup. Cap booster will put me through the tough times when I'm jammed, etc. As for the 2-1 1-2 neut v. nos deal, I've looked into it and hear that with 2 neuts you can kill a BSes entire cap in a few turns, to say nothing about HACs who just cry under neuts I hear. Of course I'll have to see if my setup will run on just 1 nos reliably. As stated most of my knowlege is second hand so I expect to lose a few Pilgrims before I figure it out and what works best with my style.
With the cap booster I might be able to take on the now nerfed scorps solo. TD and nos it when I have a lock, and cap inject and tank when I don't. Good thing Scorps don't put out much DPS as BSes. I can probly avoid its turrets undisrupted since they usually use the mids for ECM and not webbers.

Thinking outside the box is what this thread is all about.
Damps+Rigs it better damp to well below 10km because I'll need to keep a non-faction webber on my opponent and I'm not fitting faction Nos just yet. Maybe if I can damp him to 5-7km. Otherwise I might stray outside the 10km and he'll get away without a webber on him. Also I plan to use the 7500km +2 warp scram but might have to reconsider now. Luckily with the stab nerf you won't find as many ratting ravens stabbed out I assume. But as I was originally torn between Arazu and Pilgrim when deciding what recon to train I would definatly enjoy the Nos+Drones of the Pilgrim and the Damp of the Arazu. That's a really fun idea, I wonder how expensive it is...
Keep the ideas coming folks!

As you'll probably have some fitting skills i'd recomend trying to fit just one neut at first, a neutralizer takes -alot- of your own cap to be ran and it costs more to fit than a nosferatu, you may run into fitting issues though, I recomend getting recon to at least IV, as you see I use faction and best named to cut down on my own fitting req's, you can drop one energized adaptive for a cpu mod in the low without nerfing yourself too bad however.
Also, the pilgrim gets a -very- good bonus to tracking disruptors, so it's not so much thinking outside the box, as returning to the ships original intentions when it came out.

2Nos/1neut should be same set up as b4 patch (MarII sstherm sskin refuge 800rt) with the 2Neut/1nos set up however and if you dont want to "waste" a mid fro an injector then sarII sstherm sskin eanmII 1600plate might work better... I ll try that later tonight Arguably my opinions represent to an extent the opinions of my alliance and in particular circumstances give rise to a valid "casus belli" claim. |

a mwd on your pilgrim and curse will mean heavys AND mediums will not catch you.
curse does it better cause a 12km orbit is hard to hold with mwd in these recons..they are fat and heavy.
mega is prime target for a curse, as is tempest, geddon, apoc. scorp can still jam well, and raven can lay out the pain, and you have no way to mitigate that. torp raven wont hurt much while mwding, but its alot of hps to chew through.
with faction scram curse can embarrass a nos domi...but if it has cap injectors, dont expect to kill it any time soon. if drone pilots are smart they will all in on your drones. makes killing even a thorax tricky if the pilot knows whats up.
if the drone pilot is dumb or panics...deimos and ishtars make easy targets.
pilgrim is more limited tho.

I'm looking at getting into a curse or pilgrim pretty soon and I'm wondering why more people don't use either an mwd or a dual rep setup. These ships seem like prime candidates for either one or the other. Maybe there's something I'm not seeing but it seems like an mwd plus a couple tracking disruptors and you'd be able to avoid any turret/drone fire. Or else a with all that nos couldn't you run a dual rep setup and be able to tank a fair bit of damage. If someone could fill me in on what I'm missing that'd be great.

ECM burst is still chance based is it not? What sort of targets are you going up against with the burst - e.g. cruisers, bs, recons? Do you have to keep using it or are you managing 100% first attempt?

Yes ECM is still chance based, but with much higher strg than multi-jammers - something about 8 points. Targets are Cruisers, Hacs, Battlecruisers, some BS. Burst Cycle is 30 sec. If it misses i have enough HPs to outlast victims fire. If it hits then he needs about 30 secs to gain a new lock on me. enough time to fully repair me. Thrust me, it works !

ship you can go after rev with a pilgrim are mega (without heavy II drones) tempest geddon (same as mega) apoc
dunno for new tier3 bs cause never engaged one in pilgrim
avoid dominix (outdrones and outnos pilgrim) phoon ( same as dominix when fitting nos + launchers + big dronebay ) raven ( ok with 2 racial jammers is still an easy pick , but u have to say no at all the other bs )
i still use 2 nos 1 neut and 2 TD II with rigs bonus the rule is always the same point on target close range orbit with ab on td on target your drones over his drones nos + neut till cap death (then only nos) tbh pilgrim is no more a iwin ship, but it s still a powerfull one
