Vigilant Tyrannos and Amarr naval forces are engaging in Safizon on all gates. Currently, the Drifters control grids for two of five.
More news as it unfolds.

Safizon is a heavily populated system in the heart of Domain, a mere four jumps from Athra.
I pray the Navy gains a swift victory.
I will begin assembling relief aid for the local population. Please keep us posted.

As of this moment, the Amarr naval detachment has been destroyed by the Drifters. There are approximately thirty at the Amarr naval HQ facility, and a number of smaller groups at some of the gates.
No information on whether additional naval forces will be deployed, as the Drifters appear to have lapsed into passivity.

An excellent question? In its way, this is similar to the Vigilant Tyrannos appearance at Yulai, where presumably an objective was achieved, and the Drifters then went into passivity.
This Drifter task force appears to be patrolling the system, slowly, but Maker knows if I can figure out what they're looking for or waiting for. That said, the group that had been at the system's station numbers about 40, and is currently on the Artoun stargate.

I saw the Imperial Navy engaging the Drifters.
I assisted them, and saw the destruction of 2 Drifter battleships.
Unfortunately, they turned their guns on me next, which might have given the Navy a few seconds of respite.
But, my ship is expendable, and my crew are expendable, and I am expendable in defence of the Holy Places.
I regret nothing.

Gates were online as of last report.
As an aside, I've been pulled into consultations, so I no longer have eyes on the system. I'll report what I hear, but it will be second-hand at best. Anyone present in system is invited to provide updates on the overall situation.

In Safizon in a Nemesis. I'm fully armed but will remain cloaked and will likely not engage in combat unless the Drifters begin posing a danger to civilians.
As of 18:35 EVE Standard Time:
There are 200+ individuals in local
The Artoun gate is crowded with wrecks and spilled cargo, but no Drifters are visible.
The Eba gate is clear.
The Ebtesham gate is surrounded by 18 Artemis and Apollo Tyrannos battleships. Many wrecks are present in the area.
The Jennim gate is surrounded by 27 Artemis and Apollo Tyrannos battleships. Be careful! A freighter has disgorged Amarr Shuttles everywhere in an attempt to decloak covert vessels.
The Zatsyaki gate is clear.
The Safizon II - Moon 1 - Amarr Navy Assembly Plant station is being swarmed by a Drifter force. Wrecks and a large capsuleer force are present. Exercise caution.
UPDATE AS OF 19:38 EST
A brave or foolhardy Oracle pilot, Meta Knite, seems to have attracted the station fleet's attention and is luring them far off of the station.

Also, 45+ drifters in one system!? There is an expletive for this, I just don't know what it is....

With Safizon being the location where the new Navy battleship is being constructed, it should be noted that this marks the first confirmed instance of Drifter initiated engagement against the Amarr Empire. This corroborates previous reports of Drifter numbers assembling in Amarr space for some time in greater concentrations than the other empires. In light of recent events with Mentor Raish, it is becoming apparent that the Amarr Empire has drawn hostile Drifter attention. However, recall that before this act of overt aggression by the Drifters occurred, it was Empress Sarum I that claimed:
"While we do not yet understand the motives of this force, their intentions, or their will, the Drifters must be regarded as a threat, and the Empire must ensure that her borders remain secure."
The Empress claimed the Drifters were a threat. Either she made this claim knowing why they must be regarded as such and declined to share that knowledge with both her followers and the cluster at large, or she was committing to political posturing. As a member of the State, I am hesitant as to the stability of this situation. |

All the reports I have currently read on the engagement at Sarum Prime have been unable to confirm which party opened fire first. Conflicting reports vary between the Amarr Navy being given orders to open fire to capsuleers firing first to the Drifters indiscriminately targeting Navy vessels. Are you able to corroborate any of these reports? |

They must have known I'm out of position to sortie, but I have by subspace comms sent my military attach+¬ Cydonia Meridan. She has reported to me the grave situation in system and during her recon was summarily shipped by the Drifter attack force. She barely managed to escape in her pod alive.
Update 1: Its my understanding additional supporters of my Star Diocese have engaged Drifter forces with grave results. Blessed be ALL the bold pilots during this Emergency.

How far do you want to go back... like maybe the time Jamyl Sarum 1 ordered the desecration of Sleeper beings and dissected them? That would be a 'shots fired' in my book.

I have actually looked into the matter, and have compiled notations of the numerous questionable actions and instances that the Empress has assisted in or personally oversaw. With the past three instances, and the current events being taken into account it is becoming increasingly clear that the Empress has endangered the Empire and has refused to provide any disclosure. |

I have recorded some holos.
Safizon Amarr Navy station engagement - CVA and Caldari loyalists engaging drifters Drifter flying in formation Safizon - Eba engagement Safizon - Atroun engagement
It all awfully reminds me of estimation of our combat capabilities. Since Sarum Prime they learned what "Squad", "Focus Fire" and "Formation" means.
Looks like the best thing we can do for now is to keep track of these changes and think about how this can bea countered.

CVA/Provi Bloc forces and PIE with friends operated seperate fleets in co-ordination in defence of the system. We merged fleets later. The drifters have certainatly upped their game. Most of the smaller Drifter groups are down, just one large formation of about 40 left. God bless all those who have fought the Drifter menace.

It's been a strange day. Awful, in parts. Slightly... slightly less awful in others.
I screwed up. I got proud. I underestimated the Drifters. I don't know, perhaps I arrogantly thought that when I saw them in person my mind would reveal some solution to the threat that everyone else had missed. I didn't really understand the implications of the Drifter battleship until I experienced it firsthand.
It's been hours and I can still see the flash of that weapon when I close my eyes, still hear that odd, anticlimactic wobbling vibration that it makes. Every time one of their ships lost its outer shield, we'd lose a ship, but we were losing ships to their secondary weapons before we even managed to do that. Those weapons, the Lux Kontos, I could see and feel space bending around the path of the discharge, feel metal, ceramic and plastic twisting and warping around the point of impact. And the superweapon itself... there has to be some way to neutralise its effect, to mitigate it. Otherwise they'll easily win most batltes with us through sheer weight of attrition.
I found myself flying alongside members of PIE, PAux and CVA, taking orders from their fleet commanders. That was strange. They're not bad pilots though, or commanders, and they were... surprisingly respectful and friendly, although I imagine that they would have been little else given the work we were engaged in together.
Afterwards I limped off to fight some Sansha so that CONCORD can start repairing the hole Safizon put in my wallet. Nation, at least, are an enemy I can understand - and destroy.
