I use this for level 3s can do everything fine, you might need a better tank for the harder ones like "The Blockade".
Kills cruisers, battlecruisers and HAC's fine with f1-f8 and tank(cap) with ab running lasts long enough for the rats to be dead before you run out of cap.
Use the 3 launchers + 5xLight Drones to kill smaller faster ships.
5/3 setup is overall better than 6/2 setups IMHO.
Remember to kite a bit and use speed to advantage, use the Look at, double click space, traveling parallel to target to lower transversal "trick" to kill things quicker.

If you're running a small gang with nobody that can tank and have more than enough DPS, consider this build[from memory]:
Rigs: 2x Trimark Armor Pump I 1x Auxiliary Nano Pump I
Medium Slot: 4x Cap Recharger II
Low Slot: 2x 1600mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I 2x Medium Armor Repairer II 1x Named Resistance Plating 1x Power Diagnostic System II
High Slot: Various(whatever you can equip after the above, depending on skill levels)
3x T2 Medium Drones(various)
Now I know what you're thinking; "that's a stupid build" but one way or another, the mission needs to get done. Having one ship tank it all while the rest kills makes it easy and quick to get to the next one while the rest are looting/salvaging. If skills are correct, you can get just under 22k armor HPs, and your cap recharge will stablize at ~56%. Armor% usually stays ~60% as well, and as with any mission, will regenerate as NPCs are popped. Resistance, again if skilled up, is enough to where the armor reppers can keep up with relative ease.
Yes, I know the DPS is virtually non-existant from a build like that, but if you have enough dps from the other ships, it really doesn't matter.

The missiles can engage much farther out than the arty optimal range, working on the shields. When you get about 10km beyond optimal range unload with the arty.
This requires less reloading as you don't waste those shots at optimal+max falloff.

anyone having trouble effectively tanking a hurricane to do lvl3 missions... please read my shipsetup on previous page.
you DO NOT need to tank a hurricane in order to do lvl3 missions.. in fact its better if you DONT, cuz with that setup I posted you HARDLY get ANY hits at all on you, and it does ANY lvl3 mission with EASE.

Bladerunner has the right idea, the missions are horridly boring so you have to do them in as little time as possible. One way of dealing with the boredom is ofc using DRAKEz0r, so you just warp in there, sit there and go watch TV. Now, this may be efficient if theres something good on the tube ;) but its still way too slow (low dps).

But this setup will not work (at all, unlike with the drake) because 1) your speed will be near 200m/s - you will waste a lot of time getting in range 2) if you use ACs your tracking will inevitably suck horribly, even with pristine gunnery you will not be able to shoot down frigs, your dps will be close to zero! 3) if you use ARTY on PST hurricane you will be doing low damage and will not be able to re-acquire optimal for shooting at bigger ships
So; its even LESS efficient (time wise) than PST drake + HAMs!

Actually I dont think there is a single matari AC setup for lvl3 missions bar using a command ship (which is an overkill and not possible for many players who must do lvl 3s to unlock 4s).
So lets talk about a speedy ship using artillery (we have already eliminated tanking which is a no-go and we have eliminated slow setups, which are no-go).
Keep at range option is your friend, use it as much as you can. In addition to this tracking *IS* important for speedy mission running. In almost every situation, while you are regaining optimal you are pounded on by fast NPCs - good tracking helps you dispatch them right then and there thus helping your tank (eliminating the number of enemies decreases their cumulative damage).
The problem is, only experience will tell you if you have enough of rudimentary tank on your speedy hurc to enable to you survive the initial (upon warp in) encounter with the mass of ships. Once again, great top speed REALLY helps here as the damage NPCs do decreases as you put distance between you.
See, what happens when you use a speedy, godlike tracking hurricane is; you decrease incoming DPS by both gaining distance AND picking off small ships (courtesy of tracking).
All of this is making me sad, I am a long time Mechwarrior fan, and I had ACs on all of my Mecha, I dont like shiny things (to be continued,I hope)

As I was saying, I like my weapons to be old school, pack a big punch, make a lot of noise...this is why I chose to be Minmatar (which turned out a big mistake...oh well).
I would love to be able to use ACs on (all) LVL3s, but I dont see it happening. You simply cant fit enough speed to go along with dps to go along with tank on any matari ship.

This baby will travel at 735m/s and will turn rather quickly (10s warp ready), it has a nice enough buffer (shield extender) to soak the peak damage until it (quickly) regains range, it can survive long enough to warp out in time (it turns quickly) and it will hit anything due to tracking. Its optimal (using script) is 64km (tremor) and its targetting range is 73km (with sensor booster) which is pretty balanced. Falloff is some 20km so you could (if you wanted to) deal damage even at 70km - which is far enough to annulate any incoming damage.
As you warp in you will inevitable get damaged, maybe even get into armor, but as you regain range your armor repairer will do the job.
The downside is; rigs I used (I get them cheap) can be expensive. However; I am able to help friends doing lvl 4s with this ship without problems. I can be a dedicated salvager (speed rigs sure do help) or I can simply snipe.
Optionally you could replace some speed modules with more gyros or with 1x damage control (if you feel you will pop). Some people will want to use 650s instead of 720s and remove one tracking module (some dont have enough grid to power 720s).
Caveat; I have 20mil SPs, most of them in gunnery and ISK is not an issue for me This means that for some of you guys this setup will be 1) too expensive (check bladerunners setup for a cheaper version) 2) too skill intensive to work (cant help you there)
So, what is your opinion on this matter?

u can take away the micro warpdrive...in some missions you can use them..use a ab. so your tank is: 1 shield extender..that will NOT do...sins the insane hurrican has more low slots then medium go armor tank.

Im kind of new, so I don't know if its appropriate, but I wanted to thank Evriss for his no-frills, get the job done setup. Thanks, man, your setup has made my life much easier. even without lvl 5 armor skills. They have been the most hassle free, click and win setups ive used so far on this board. I did not realize people were just loading up eft and using setups they've made from that without actually using them on lvl 3's. But your setup has by far been the easiest to use and setup. thanks, man.

I use this for lvl 3s, now testing it out on lvl 4s... so far so good. This char has just under 13mil SP.

My targeting range is 82km, and optimal is 72km. I pick off small frigs and cruisers before they get too close. If they do get under my guns I have the missile launchers and drones. I can then apporach BCs and BSs swtiching out the scripts to tracking speed for the tracking computer, and scan resolution for the sensor booster if needed (I usually just turn it off when under optimal.) The web is great for close range with the arty, helping me lower my transversal, and against the smaller ships. Also, at close range I change ammo from Tremor to faction ammo for shorter distance (Rep Fleet EMP, Phased Plasma, etc.. depending on damage type and range.)
So far so good. If i think I need more cap life I'll switch out either the web or ab for a Cap charger II.
