Changing Salvaging down was still somewhat ok, I can use survey 5 and mechanics 5 for other things beside salvaging. But Astrometrics? Dear Devs, why did you changed an exploration must have skill to something completely useless? Why?
That was really unfair for people that trained the skill up for exploration! Ok, you can use the Observator and Ferret probes for PvP but one usually can stick with the other standard probes as long as no deep safes are involved. Even the bonus (+1 category) is a waste because why in hell would someone scan for all 5 at once? Especially because the "Scrap" category doesnt show anything anyway... I am quite upset about that change, and it takes quite something for that to happen.

I agree completely. At least make having the skill useful. But I liked the fact that you had to make a committment to being an explorer mini-profession. I'll get over it, but they better make having high explorer skills pay off for those wanting to specialize.
Just lowering the time factor is pretty lame, you should have your chances of discovering rare stuff as opposed to status quo stuff heightened significantly. Maybe that is the way it is, I don'y know...they didn't even have the grace to put the change in the patch notes so expecting an explanation may be asking too much.

Do you realise that you didnt even bother to actually look up the prerequisites before you posted?
Sift Probes need astrometrics 4 and every other exploration probe even less.

I tend to agree that being able to use Ferrets and Observators is not quite enough of a reason for having Astrometrics V, though they are handy in some situations.
I wonder if ideas for exploration probing-specific skills that require Astrometics V would be good here?
For eg, Exploration Probe Sensitivity - 10% increase to Exploration Probe sensor strength per level.
From my limited look at exploration probing I get the feeling such a skill would be nice to have.
Plus there is also the hope (yes, high optimism, I know) that Astro V may be a req for some future types of scanning equpiment/exploration ships/etc.

I just wonder when all the useless skills i trained (refining effi lvl5, survey 5, astrometrics 5 now (?) + old tractor beam req's) will be useful again or will i get time invested into em back (in form of another skill).
Its stupid that to use stuff i learn skills to lv5 and then you have whiner squad on forums that refuse to learn anything past lvl1, so req's are reduced.
Plz CCP tell me if in next year BS lvl4 and advanced spaceship lvl2 will be enough for dreads - i want to fly em but dont like having useless skills (i dont use BS).

Well, I had already trained half the skill when they lowered the reqs, so im going to finish it. But its 2 weeks of training time. Its actually quite a big part of a year just for one skill, so its a bit sad its not more useful. I wouldnt have trained it if it hadnt been a prereq.
Thwn again, things change in these games. Maybe its better for newbies to the game to not have to train it to V.

You sons of *****es. Way to jack me off CCP. First it was 5, but I figured it might change so I don't train it. Instead I started training it on sisi so I could play with it there and see if I liked it. Then as soon as I finish training it on sisi, they do another mirror and wipe it out. Then a few days before Kali went live I started training it, thinking they wouldn't change it now, and that it made sense to have it at 5 because exploration is SUPPOSED TO BE A SPECIALIZED PROFESSION. The day before it goes live they lower the requirement so I stop training. It goes live, and it's back to 5, so I resume training. Now that I have wasted 10 days on this, they lower it again.
