Hello,
I'm a bit confused on the whole remapping process as I've been given conflicting advice in the past, so I figured I should post here for more conflicting advice!
From what I gather I should get my core skills up before remapping, but seeing as I'm specializing in mainly manufacturing (mainly ammunition)/processing/mining, with a side of trading and whatever social skills I need to butter up agents for reduced costs, I'm curious if there is a remap ideal for such things? After I get my cores up of course...
Before it is brought up, no I'm not changing my mind on what I intend to do, 100% confident on that.
Thank you! )))))))))))) |

You can speed up training your core engineering, and the science/production/reprocessing skills you will need for industry by remapping to intelligence/memory - basically that means maximum points to intelligence and all remaining mappable points to memory. Unfortunately this will slow down skills in all other areas and the benefit isn't that great until you start training level 4 and 5 skills that take several days or weeks.
New players generally need skills in all areas and are training skills that only take a few hours or a couple of days. You only get one remap a year after you use up your starting allotment so don't waste them! |

You seem to be a perfect candidate for: 23i 21p 21m 17w 17c
In my opinion, there is no reason to not remap to this on day one.

I normally recommend that people not remap until they have had a chance to try various things out and see what they like. However I know that I am overly cautious and I have yet to use any of my bonus remaps on my main and at this point there is no need for them so you could say that I wasted them.
My only word of caution is that many people start out thinking that they are going to only be doing industrial stuff in the beginning and then get bored with only doing one thing all the time and want to branch out and try different things so if you focus too much you could be screwing yourself. But again when you burn your first remap you start a timer for you yearly remap but you still have your bonus remaps. The only way that you could get yourself into a real tight spot is if you burn all of your bonus remaps and then stick yourself with a very specific remap and a one year timer to get out of it.
TL;dr Do Little and Tau both gave good advice be cautious but not too cautious. |

To hopefully clear up the confusion a bit: the advice to not remap in the first year is specifically for newbies who don't know what they want to do in the game yet, and it's because they'll need a wide variety of skills trained in order to "try out everything" and figure out what they're interested in. If you already have a plan and are 100% sure about the plan, then remap for the plan.
Without knowing the specific details, in general, a manufacturing alt character will be more focused on int/mem, as you'll need to train a lot of industry skills (mem/int), a lot of combat support and core skills (int/mem mostly), and fewer ships and weapons (per/wil) than someone trying to specialize in a variety ship lineup for PVE or PVP.
If you're using EVEMON or some other skill-planning app, and it recommends a certain remap based on what you're going to train, and you're 100% sure, you should remap to the recommended attributes. That way you get the benefits right now, and if in the future you're no longer 100% sure, use a bonus and remap to whatever the new situation is.
You seem to have thought about it enough that it's not a waste of remaps, but rather an informed decision. So go ahead. Ultimately it's only a minor 10-15% difference, and this is a game. |

Do Little wrote: Edit: Need to clarify - you get a new remap 12 months after you use your available one - they don't accumulate. Bonus remaps are not repenished.
Just to expand on this.
You get 3 remaps at the start and the 12 month timer starts when you use the first one.
So if you know what you want to train use one to your advantage as well as to start the timer. |

The skills you want to train will tell you what the primary and secondary attributes are just do a show info on the skill and check the tabs. Group skills to be trained by attributes and re-map accordingly.
A set of plus 4 implants is a good tool as well, not all that expensive and they really help. |

Rookies do not significantly benefit from the default attributes, even if they don't know what they want to do, and want to "try everything".
Also, it is really important rookies be engaged during their early days for retention, and impairing their skill training doesn't foster that. |

Thank you all for the replies and the advice, I ended up going 23i 21p 21m 17w 17c and training for the next two days for the five +4 implants I'm eagerly awaiting to use, thank you! )))))))))) |
