I'm looking to update my year old Kronos fit used for level 4's. It works just fine for me. But since I was away for awhile, i may of missed some improved changes or nerfs. Any advice would be appreciated!

No, nothing of note changed regarding the Kronos; your fit will still perform as it did before. Please, in the future though, paste your fit in EFT format. It's much easier for everyone involved to work with that. Thanks. |

1200+dps, 825tank. over 7 mins with it all running. Throw about 3-400m on it and push it up to almost 1300dps and 900 tank. Empty mid is choice (TC or 2nd prop if you cant work the double MJD to move), rigs cause I'm lazy in 4s. |

It's a bit over zealous on the tank with only 2 Mag Stabs and no TE's in their place. Maybe dropping one/both of the EANM's in favor of another Mag Stab and maybe a TE or just two Mag Stabs. I'd say both, but I've not flown a Kronos personally before, just the other three Marauders. Bastion is going to give you some solid resists and turn your repper into a buy-one-get-one-free situation. A faction LAR with DC2 is already pretty close to being just enough on their own, though any less would being kind of pushing it a bit too hard.

If you really want to do level 4 missions effectively in a Kronos without having to care about making full aggro, you can use this setup.
[Kronos, Death Sentence (Level 4 Missions)]
Dark Blood Large Armor Repairer Damage Control II Dark Blood Armor Explosive Hardener Dark Blood Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane Dark Blood Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane Shadow Serpentis Magnetic Field Stabilizer Shadow Serpentis Magnetic Field Stabilizer
Large Micro Jump Drive Tracking Computer II, Tracking Speed Script Tracking Computer II, Optimal Range Script Heavy Capacitor Booster II, Navy Cap Booster 800
Neutron Blaster Cannon II, Void L Neutron Blaster Cannon II, Void L Neutron Blaster Cannon II, Void L Neutron Blaster Cannon II, Void L Small Tractor Beam II Small Tractor Beam II Salvager II Bastion Module I
Large Nanobot Accelerator II Large Anti-Thermic Pump I
Hammerhead II x5 Hammerhead II x3 Hobgoblin II x5 Hobgoblin II x4
The whole setup here costs 522 mill isk (except for the ship cost). Ofc you can go much cheaper, but you have to be more carefull about not doing a full aggro in that case. With this setup, you can tank every level 4 missions without any issues.
However, i find the Vargur better for level 4 missions

Heck, i even instapop frigs that are 60+ km from me and 2 volley the cruisers that are 30-40 km from me with Null L loaded on the Blasters. And if the npc's are even longer away than that, you have the LMJD to get close to them.

Sad thing about the Kronos is the Rattler can spit out 1200dps to like 60km easily while being able to tank all the level 4s, being able to select damage type, and having dual prop (and probably a hyperspatial rig). All for wayyy cheaper.
If you must go for a Kronos though, definitely use rails, the dps on blasters seems awesome but getting into range/swapping to null makes you lose alot of applied dps. |

The Kronos, and all marauders, is miles and above faster in both warp and space than a rattlesnake. Snakes in highsec are high DPS monsters but you lose a ton of dps/time due to its anemic travel speeds.
On paper the snake is the best thing since sliced bread.. In reality its a very niche ship that does what it does extremely well. |

1. Blasters vs. rails is entirely situational. I typically prefer blasters; I can still pretty much one-shot many frigates and cruisers out to 40km using Null, and I get better performance at close range where most battleships tend to end up if you're sitting stationary. For long range NPCs that like to have their battleships kite you at 40km, rails are a much better choice.
2. Don't fit for passive cap regen. You have plenty of grid and gobs of cargo space so suck it up and go for a cap booster. I've flown my Kronos on plenty of level 4s and a few Besieged Covert Sites in losec, and I think I've only had to activate my cap booster once. With the strong native tank on the Kronos, and smart aggro control, I just don't have to cycle my repper constantly, which keeps my cap steady.
3. Don't rely solely on a MJD for your prop mod. The MJD is very handy in some circumstances, especially with the Marauder's role bonus to MJD cooldown, but if you run into a situation where you have to burn 45-50km between gates it buys you nothing. (Knowing your missions really helps here.)
4. Consider a reactive armor hardener instead of your explosive plating. Most missions only do two damage types which means a reactive hardener will give good performance, plus they don't stack in the same pool as membranes, platings, and hardeners which further helps. Obviously it won't be as much benefit on missions with 3 more more damage types.
5. Consider packing a pair of sentry drones. They're great for engaging at range. Obviously keep some lights or mediums for frigates and cruisers that get in under your guns.
6. Consider fitting a web, again for stuff that does manage to get in close.
7. Be very selective about when you use Void ammo. If you are using blasters, I would not use Void on anything smaller than a battleship, and preferably a double-webbed one at that. The DPS looks great on paper, but the tracking hit combined with the close range really hurt you.
Hope this helps.

This is actually the reason why the rail fit wasn't terrible. Every other fit had either MJD or standard prop not both. |

I use a kronos for like 3 missions. MJD on top of the group and blast away with void. occasionally use null if one of them spawns in a structure and bounces. I've been thinking about getting a vindicator for that extra dps.
in general: rails are probably better for most missions, although blasters are very viable in some. dual prop is good. look at deadspace med reps, turn it on and forget it is there. if you have a short DC in bastion you probably won't lose your ship.

Playing around with it, but with just a little moderate pimp, no more then 408m isk total fittings it gives good performance but looks like something I would gank/would be ganked. t2 fitted it might as well be a megathron cos its very expensive for what it does.

I haven't eft'd a rail vindi since before the pirate rebalance thingy (been longer since I've flown one). I was thinking a 2k dps dual prop set up, for the kill one group at 100km missions, as it gains a few 100 dps over the blaster kronos. My old fit was pretty similar to yours, but with a cap injector, sensor booster, and t2 burst aerator. Old vindi had gimped locking range so you needed a sensor booster, and/or a targeting range rig. and regardless the fitting was pretty tight. this one uses pretty much all the CPU, and has about 50 pg spare. needs every fitting skill at 5. a meta cap injector, and a compact AB would free up a bit of room.

since the TE nerf I wouldn't worry about it too much. I'd rather fit as many tracking comps as possible. EFT shows 47+49 with 2 tc, 45+47 with 3 te. the tracking bonus is nice, but not sure how much it is needed in lv4s, plus if you need the tracking you probably don't need the optimal and can switch scripts.

Haven't used a Kronos myself but have used the following for Lv4s over the years: Raven/RNI, Mael, Tempest, Vargur, Apoc/Navy and more recently Typhoon Navy, Gila, loki, Domi, Rattler, Macharial and maybe a few other hulls here and there. I've done full clear/salvage with alt, solo ull clear/salvage with Marauder and Blitzing. The requirements change depending on how you do missions.
Observations that might be applicable to the Kronos: - DPS means nothing without the ability to project or apply that damage (Blasters, Torps, Rapid Heavies). - Different missions can be done better with different builds. I haven't found a universal fit yet. Don't be afraid of switching builds. - Drone travel time is a thing. - Being stuck to sentries is a thing too. - Blitzing has vastly different requirements to full clear & Salvage. - Selectable damage IS actually a thing IF applicable. Kronos has a slightly better time at it due to large range of rats being decently vulnerable to Kin/Therm especially in the right space. - Travel time in a slow BB is a royal pain in the rear. Even a Mach going 500m/s feels too slow sometimes. - Ammo cost/economy. Marauders have the advantage here, don't be afraid of using faction/T2 ammo, unlike a AC Mach *shudders*
My suggestion would be to make use of the save fit and quick fit functionality to have at least two main fits, one rail and one Blaster. Switch out as needed depending on the mission and if you want to blitz or full clear. Example: Damsel grab the blasters and full clear, Zazzmataz grab rails and blitz. EOM full clear or blitz fit rails, drop the prop mods for extra projection. Stuff like that.
The Marauders have great projection and decent to great dps and a strong affinity to full clear rather than blitz. They can't make use of their great tank and projection while moving from pocket to pocket. Single pocket missions are great because of their projection.
Now this is all mostly to help you look at builds (and your own build) and be able to understand the build rather than just parrot builds and wonder why they don't work for you. That said here's what I'd fly if I had a Kronos and an explanation as to how I would fly it and why:
[Kronos, New Setup 1] Magnetic Field Stabilizer II Magnetic Field Stabilizer II Magnetic Field Stabilizer II Magnetic Field Stabilizer II Tracking Enhancer II Large Armor Repairer II Adaptive Nano Plating II
Tracking Computer II, Optimal Range Script Tracking Computer II, Optimal Range Script Large Micro Jump Drive 100MN Afterburner II

Large Hybrid Burst Aerator II Large Hyperspatial Velocity Optimizer II
Hammerhead II x5 Hobgoblin II x5 Garde II x2
This is a full clear build. Warp into a pocket, drop MTU and MJD 100km out (so that you are +- 100km away from any rats.) You have a lock range of 112km and E-War immunity. You have incredible projection with near max(over 95%) DPS to 75km and still great DPS at 100km (only half way into falloff) not to mention no tracking problems at that range. Tank is probably a little overkill and could probably get away with dropping the plating for another TE. Soon as most of the room is dealt with MJD to gate for next pocket or to MTU and salvage. Use AB to get from MTU to next pocket if close enough (363m/s so around 22-24km or less)
Plenty of headroom if you want to bling (Faction stabs, TEs, Armor repper, Prop mod, drop the plating, or even put on a MWD instead of the AB etc.)

imo it usually isn't worth jumping to 100km when you can face tank it anyways.
if it is at the range where tracking is an issue, you probably should have brought blasters. and remember with a mobile depot you can swap in mission.

All true. The build is more of a one size fit all build. A lot of missions have rats at 50km, 60km, 70km, 100km, etc. For that build it doesn't really matter where the rats are, you either bastion up and start blapping frigs or MJD 100km, bastion up and start blapping frigs.
If you are willing to put more effort into it then you can have a blaster fit and switch between the two depending on the mission |

Looking at giving kronos a try and this on the list as something to try. Has what I like in a fit. Snipe, accounts for cap in some way, dual prop since sometimes my trigonometry fails me and don't end that last mjd hop in the area of the acc. gate tbh.
Gun hardwires I am looking at now to enhance the experience. I am looking at slots 7,9 and 10 in particular.
Motion Prediction slot 7, Large hybrid damage slot 10. Its slot 9 I am wondering about. I am thinking ROF over the raw damage option.
ROF or damage is pushing stacking regardless. ROF would stack with the mag stabs and the aerator II. Damage would stack with the slot 10 and the magstab. The paper dps is a few points difference of damage wuth swapping in fitting tool I am using. So looking more for actual seat time feelings for what might be better. What do(did) you run for yours?
Or other's input for hardwires would be of help. I tbh am more familiar with the missile hardwires. Been chucking missiles for (too many) years in pve lol. Kronos is my break away from that. Just shot guns in pvp at BS level. 240 ish mil (this will be LP turn in for me so pay lp store isk cost and write off the LP value in this case) in wires....was just never motivated to do that. Called primary can and does happen lol. |
