came to a posible solution of afk players
for example i go jita i see 2000 players im sure half or even more are afk on busy days ppl can even get in jita
in nullsec same deal if big fights happen 500+ ppl tidi happens
solution auto kick after players who are afk for more then 45 mins this might fix Tidi and etry to full systems and shouldnt be hard to get since most other mmo games have this thing.

I'm sure this has been proposed before but I still wonder why it's allowed. If nothing else it will help with intel and information cobtrol

Why is this even needed and what are you trying to fix?
If you think those AFK are a burden to the servers, then I'm sure you can provide us with data concerned the traffic they produce whilst doing nothing.
Then you can explain to us why CCP would even want to log out players and lower the logged in count.

Equally good questions.
Answered only perhaps with that afk players don't contribute anything other than irritation to the people around them.
It's a lose/lose situation for CCP. Afk accounts are paying customers but so are the people they're inhibiting. Some people just dock up and log off which isn't good for the game. Some as we know eventually unsub which logically only leads to the eventual unsubbing of the afk account too in time. Noone is fooled by the schrodingers cloaker but can you provide a single example of where an afk made a positive impact on the larger game?
Here's a tip: CCP won't consider null bears logging off to be a good thing.

That and Bob knows i have done real and actual gameplay (well sorta gameplay anywyas) slamming one of my characters into a 100km orbit of a wormhole as a scout while the fleet was grinding c5 sites having your scout disconnect because he's waiting for "incase something happens" isnt what i'd call sensible...
I know i could have wiggled the camera a little or something, but the wormhole sound only happens if the camera is focussed at the wormhole, and i was dualboxxing logi at the time, so kinda busy |

Here's a tip: CCP won't consider null bears logging off to be a good thing. I wondered when someone would bring cloaks into the mix. Be honest, the only ones inhibiting them are themselves. No one cloaked and AFK can shut down gates, docking, modules etc etc.
The funny thing is, you nailed it yourself in your first post. Removing AFK players helps give you more info and that ties in with the whole AFK cloaking/Local debacle. I don't see why we should get that info, on top of what is already a rather powerful intel tool.
But that's not the point the OP was making. It looked to me as if they were trying to suggest, they were a load on the servers. If this is the case I'd like for them to show us how.
Plus the take on whether CCP wants it to happen. Cloaks or not.

tidi is not a result of afk players its that sol nodes have to much workload or the they are waiting for the database and the sol nodes only handle pilots in space. If you experiance tidi it is because there is to much traffic in the systems and the server can not handle it. |

AFK players can't hurt you. HAd to put that bit as always.
Its active connections to the sql backend that create issues. If sitting there not doing anything the server will put you on a backburner basically. Other than that you are a blips in the system in this setup.
Other mmo's do this because usually people AFK in populated areas. So its lots of people of people rendering your chars graphics. This is working the server.
If I am docked and afk....you don't see my ship to render. I am just a text entry in the guests tab and local.
If I am in space afk...you'd have to find the area I am at to see me to render me . Worth noting this would then be a nice easy lol kill for you if so.
If I am cloaked....you aren't even seeing me if nearby to render .
this is why eve can do this. in space and afk....no one can hear me scream and they can't render you either. At least in the hundreds of players. |

They're not AFK - they're ISK doubling in local...

High sec people who hide from PVP are looked up by many as scum, the cancer infecting the game...yet when nullbears feel a pinch everything has to change for them. You know the irony of this right?
Here's the thing, if people are so stupid/cowardly to be put off by a name in local with the new jump changes then I would respectfully suggest they go get the armbands back on and get back in the kids pool of highsec.
If someone wont even log on if there is even any risk at all, I'm not sure they are in the right game.
I've said it before and I'll say it again how you combat this is:
1) Research their staging area and put a scout there 2) Keep an eye on map stats, with the jump ranges, no-one is leaping from half the world away any more, you SEE players clustered around the bridger when they have active hunters out. See a build up in players in space you can't explain? Send a scout. You have a scout near there from #1, right? 3) Learn the people who drop and keep intel open for when they do. Fatigue buys time. Killboards are also handy for this if they are prolific droppers. 4) Move systems if you like
A cloaked player is not the problem people cry about, they just can't be arsed doing anything about it and refuse to accept any risk in their isk accumulation.
The other reason the idea is bad is if you're on the other side of this, hunting some caps/supers and you're all ready to rock and roll, that can involve a lot of sitting doing nothing until tackle is called. I don't see why they should be booted or have to manage "activity" as well.
All in all, the idea is daft, will be worked around in about 90 seconds and moreover is simply a nerf afk cloaking thread in bad drag. |

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. So, why do I post here?
I'm stubborn.

I still find myself wondering why all the stress over an AFK player? If you know where they are and what they are doing (nothing cause they are AFK) then go shoot them and get rid of the problem and add another mark to your kill board.. If they are nothing more than a name in local then how do you know they are AFK and not sitting there watching and waiting? |
