Every thing is relative to a person's experience and on Eve, people are generally nice and helpful. Compared to WOT, it is a health spa. |

These forums might be more civil but I have never on any other game forum heard so many decent ideas shot down over "server-load" or "dev-time" by armchair computer scientists. As if those things even matter when CCP wants to implement something. |

To say one community is more toxic than another is kinda pointless and not really quantifiable. MY HEAVENS...

The Eve player-base has a large percentage of people who are professionals involved at all levels in relevant vocations such as engineering and IT, when those people give their feedback, they're not exactly armchair computer scientists.
There's a reason that CCP occasionally recruits from their playerbase, sometimes their players are also their peers.

... mmmmMMMmmmm... do tell of some examples. I would much enjoy this... as would the collective ego of the forums here.
OOOOOOOO... we should make a thread dedicated to the worst of the worst on other forums!
*gets down on knees* Oh great and mighty ISDs!! I beseech thee!! What would be the legality of such a thread dedicated to the angstiest of the angsty forums out there?
And then this guy goes and proves the OP wrong with the first reply.

My point was that when CCP decide something is good for the game they don't seem to care too much about dev-time so why do us players shoot down ideas because :dev-time: ? Anyone wondered how much dev time went into the un-asked-for and broken t3d's? |

Anyone wondered how much dev time went into the un-asked-for and broken t3d's? 18 months of dev time devoted solely to, an extremely controversial cash store with what was given the greed is good leak a very dubious intention and a buggy, seedy by the hour, hotel room that cooked hardware and couldn't be opted out of, is why we get to shoot down ideas because :dev-time:
More T3 ships have been wanted by many ever since the introduction of Strategic Cruisers, I wouldn't call that unwanted.
CCP doesn't always know what's good for the game and they realise that; they value their players opinions and ideas, which is why every major change has huge feedback threads where CCP take note of what is and what is not acceptable to the people that play their game.

Most of us are just a bunch of tech geeks Nerds do the armchair stuff Most people on avg here have real world technology experience, from programming to server management and everything in-between. The only other mmo community I've seen this so strongly in was early UO. I think it has to do with the allure of the sandbox, draws in the creative types and who aren't put off by learning something complicated related to tech as EVE is.
