I played for a few months at the beginning of last year and then quit in April 2014. Before I quit, I gave my corp all my assets, including all my ships and isk. I thought I'd check out Eve again since other MMOs I've tried since really didn't work out for me. However, I'm sitting on nothing apart from the bounty I collected tonight and a few rookie shiploads full of cheap ores I sold.
Basically, I have nothing to my name and I'd like to try to get back into the game. Is it possible to "cheat" a free ship out of the tutorials again somehow? Can I recover from this without resorting to selling PLEX? Any advice would be appreciated, thanks! |

You certainly can recover and it's not that hard. Frigates are cheap, the hulls are under one million ISK and with a bit of mining you can buy a new frigate. Maybe you could even buy a Venture ship (200-300K) and go mining some more ore.
When you "quit" again, don't give away all your ISK. Eve is not a game you quit forever, you just take brakes :P

I believe you can do the tutorials multiple times for the different empires . That should get you back on your feet. |

Each faction has 3 sets of career agents. You can run the tutorial missions for each agent once. http://wiki.eveuniversity.org/Tutorials_-_Opportunities_and_Career_Agents_in_EVE_Online
There is also the Sisters of Eve Epic Arc which is intended for beginning players and will provide several million ISK in starting capital: http://wiki.eveuniversity.org/The_Blood-Stained_Stars
If you need a rookie ship to get started - they are free. Just dock in any station where you don't have a ship in your pod.

There have been some good links here so far. IMHO it is not that difficult to get up and going in this game. I just think this game has less direction than other MMOs. Meaning you have to pick your own path in this game rather than having the prescribed way of making in game money like other games.
So Eve is different than other MMO in that you don't ask how to make isk in this game. You figure out what you like to do and then make isk doing that. |

I can fly a Fenrir, Maelstrom, and Procurer. I'm okay with direction (at least for this month), the real problem is $$$.
Thanks for the links guys. I think I'll start with doing the other race's tutorials. |

Yeah run one of the Military tutorial arcs for a destroyer, a business one for a low-end hauling ship, or a mining one for a Venture.
Once you have a few million ISK behind you, start trading and you can pretty easily turn 5m into 100m with a bit of knowledge.
Shoot everyone. Let the Saviour sort it out.

my favorites are the exploration agents. for just 5 missions that you can easily do in under 30 minutes*, they give you good isk as rewards mission and two ships, the repairing racial frigate + the exploration racial frigate with scanner launcher and probes, which can all be sold for good isk. that is easily more than 1.5mil isk.
*do not waste time scanning three times. when you get the first scanning mission, for the data site, also scan and bookmark for use in the next missions, a relic and a gas site ;) |

Yeah. If you can stand the tedium of doing the career agents of all three corps with each of the four empire factions you'll get quite a stack of isk. 50mil is probably a conservative estimate. Just don't make the newbie mistake I did and throw it all into a nice set of +3 implants and then get podded 48 hours later when you forget which clone you're on. |

Even as a newbie that would have been too repetitious for me.
Once you have some ISK behind you, one thing you can do to make more is to fit a cheap PVP fitted ship (make sure you can afford to replace it a few times, use the cheapest modules) and a scanning ship with an expanded probe launcher, then probe down mission runners using the skills you learned in the exploration arc and drop on top of them in your PVP ship.
Proceed to steal loot from their wrecks and salvage them too. If they have a Mobile Tractor Unit, shoot it.
If you don't get aggressed back, just keep stealing stuff and selling it.
If you get shot at by the other player, you might sometimes lose your ship, but other times they won't be able to hit you, and you can warp scramble and then ransom them. Ask 100 million to let them go and honor it.
Shoot everyone. Let the Saviour sort it out.

You can use a rookie ship to earn enough to buy a frigate hull.
You can rat (best), do level 1 missions (okay), or even mine (poor) in a rookie ship. Feel free to risk them, as they have an infinite supply.
Once you have a frigate hull (roughly 250,000 ISK) you can fit it with civilian turrets by repeatedly assembling and re-packaging a rookie ship.
Then use that frigate to earn ISK to properly fit it.
If you don't have a fully T1 fitted frigate in under an hour, you are doing something really wrong.
Next, insure the frigate, then work on T2 fittings.
Oh, you can also do up to and including most level 3 courier missions in a cargo expanded Magnate. |
