We may well be provoking them with our research and interactions but they can't be tolerated dismantling jove observatories in sovereign territory, nor acting aggressively. IMHOit's about time CONCORD flagged them as a criminal faction. I'm still not convinced the strike at Yulai hasn't persuaded CONCORD to remain whole-heartedly neutral where the Drifters are concerned. You'll see no action from them. I agree they're unlikely to do anything until it gets entirely out of hand and even then I think they will leave it in the hands of the sovereign powers to act locally. I'm sure there are many vetos in meetings we never hear about while everyone sits back and watches how things play out.

I don't think we'll see a Drifter presence at this.
There is nothing that can be gained strategically. With the sheer amount of Navy and Capsuleer ships that are due to be present, the Drifters would have to field more ships than they ever have before and even then, they would be hard-pressed to complete any objective.
And I think the last Sojourn of the Empress showed quite clearly what would happen in the event another terrorist or madman (SoCT or otherwise) decides to do something stupid.
No...I predict we will have a wonderful gala event with no issues.
Of course, prudence demands safety.
And what happens after the revelers have departed, is another thing.

I intend to be there if I can get back to my pod in time. Planet side business ties me down somewhat today, but this is an unmissable opportunity to see if the drifters continue their pattern.
That said, for the sake of CVA, a note. I am a drone enthusiast, and as such find empress sarums' exploitation of sleeper implant technology reprehensible, which is why I side with Pope Singularity. However, the drifter atrocities are an order of magnitude greater, and demand a response. Which is why I will support the fleets of the CVA with unarmed logistics ships if any combat occurs. Please do not take hostile action against me, despite your feelings and standings.

I am unfortunately unable to be back in space at the time listed. Hopefully scope or others can capture top quality footage for me. I was doing security scans at the start of the day and was all quiet. Hopefully security can keep up with the migrant rush. |

Mssr deMosays,
I was just about to reply to your post with something typically arrogant and witty. Then I got to thinking...
You said, "this is an unmissable opportunity to see if the drifters continue their pattern. "
But it isn't, is it? The Drifters haven't confronted the Empress directly. When they've appeared in places like Safizon, it's been sometime after the Navy or the Empress has made an appearance.
Several of you have suggested that there is something with the technology of this new ship that interests the Drifters. If that is true, and the ship is to be moved from Safizon to Amarr then we can expect a response from the Drifters to occur in Amarr. If they follow their usual pattern.
Which they won't. I mean, does anyone really think that even the Drifters would be bold enough or stupid enough to attack the Imperial Homeworld?

If they did, perhaps that is the smart thing to do from a tactical perspective.
Ignoring that we do not know their objective or reasoning as a fact, we will have to stick with one of two possiblilities. One is that there is something with the ship they are interested in, the other is they are looking for something that could very well be in the station. Ship's construction itself might just be a signpost. The scope has reported it has new advanced armor. Who knows, the drifters might want the tech that makes it?
Back to the risks, security focus from capsuleers is still in Safizon so any thread to station or ship there is on par and won't be affected by the actual target choice.
Attacking Amarr? It is a trade hub. Presence of so many non combatants could work in their favor by seeing chaos. Is a wide expanse that can spread out the Military. In addition, if they direct attack, they can succeed in bypassing all the outlying defenses. Core is heavily defended, but much of traditional defence consists of the barriers to get there.
Most plausible tactical choice if they wish to attack somewhere outside of Safizon for the specific target of the Abaddon would be the two routes that are little more than transit hubs from Safizon to Amarr. That gives a few potential undefended attack locations. It is a parade after all. |
