My suggestion is to leave high sec for Null sec. Just as all criminals who avoid places where they loose control, so do the criminals using their prison computer lab minutes to play games. You wont find these people in Null where they don't have an advantage. |

Bit of a stretch comparing these horrible RL crimes with what people do in a video game, no? Not to mention the things in the video game are perfectly legal in the context of the game rules. |

I suggest you leave video games and engage your real life. You seem to be VERY confused on which is which and time away from Eve will help set you straight.
Comparing in-game actions to real life rapists and murderers speaks VOLUMES on your attitude and mindset, friend. Seriously, back up from the computer.
For the record, CONCORD punishes, they do not protect.

Also, killing people in the Battlefield games, that's a no-no.

You are just playing a video game.
If you do not want win or lose and just hold hands and be happy together with other players in an online environment, why are you playing a competitive PvP game like Eve? It seems like a rather poor choice for one of your sensibilities. |

You have to come up with a working definition of 'high level elite players' first. Good at politics? Good at solo pvp? There's a million ways to play this game, so what is elite is largely left up to interpretation. Personally, how elite can they really be when the only thing they are up against 90% of the time is just the NPC CONCORD timer?
Black Pedro wrote:You can fight the villains if you'd like, but leave the childish arm-chair psychology and personal attacks out of it.
Eh, that is sort of a stretch there man. While players can prevent being personally ganked easily enough, once someone has made a mistake, fighting off gankers and stopping a gank in progress is pretty difficult. There is absolutely no way to stop them from reshipping and doing it again and again, which is honestly a little un-EvE like in my appraisal. There is no way to bring the fight to them per say.

That only hurts the game, CCP loses money. If you like the game, don't troll people because you THINK the game should be played a certain way.
As counter-intuitive as it sounds, CCP conducted some research into the relationship between ganking and new player retention, and found that ganking increases the number of newbies who continue playing.

Being opposed by AG only 10% of the time is AG fail. AG failing at attracting players and also retaining them in their toxic environment. But, even in that 10% of time AG is around, they still fail and gank targets explode anyway. That is the measure that leads to the "elite" stamp for gankers.

You're parroting the carebears' lie--which they so desperately want CCP to buy into--that there's no counter to the ebil gankers (thus "CCP we need One More Nerf (tm)"). Yet, it's proven carebears do just fine if they stop being AFK or whatever it is they do instead of actually looking at all the tools available to everyone, learning a little about mechanics, and maybe making a couple of friends to help once in a while (*gasp* Revis, how dare you suggest playing with others in an MMO??).

All trolling aside, it's pretty entertaining to do something similar in a rail fit cormorant. Use the first fit in this link:
http://rvbeve.com/forums/index.php/topic/7597-longbows-doctrine/
Head to Uedama and the surrounding systems. If you see a CODE or minuluv machariel bumping a freighter, orbit the freighter at 45km. Separate your guns into single stacks. Watch dscan and when you see the catalyst/talos/brutix blob, get ready. Lock up as many of the blob's ships as you can and whore at will. You can make a modest amount of isk from farming the bounties and stealing the loot. Plus it's good fun.
Funny thing is, I can post this safe in the knowledge that 90% of the whiny carebears will ignore this info and continue to wah wah for one more nerf to high sec instead of turning it into entertaining content. In contrast, CODE and friends have always been good sports about it.
Alteranative course of action: train a ganking alt and fly with CODE. They're pretty welcoming and willing to help out newbies with advice. Know your enemy by becoming your enemy (even if it is temporary). |

Duke Morgan-Elite wrote:If you want to know why they do it, you need to understand mentality behind their actions. They do it because they can not have such behaviour IRL, since they'll get busted for it. Games are amplifiers of peoples behaviours, and if a person is an arshole IRL, he will be an arshole x10 and up in games. Why CCP do allow it in high sec is perhaps because they fell through to the whines of these asshats, how there is nothing to do in high sec, (insert tears amount) while they afraid to go anything below +5 themselves. So as you can see, from their behaviour in game you can find that they are hidden criminals IRL but afraid of the punishment and so they carry over that fear into game by not travelling and doing stuff in anything lower than +5 since they afraid of punishment. However now, militia is punishing these type of people in high sec too. http://highsecmilitia.blogspot.co.uk/ So you have few options available, stop playing this game, take CCP to court, or join militia and have a laugh at these "gankers" type of people.
Oh wow.
You literally just accused people of:
1) "Ganking" in real life?? 2) Being terrible people in real life 3) Being criminals in hiding in real life
Because they enjoy blowing up pixels in a game about blowing up pixels? What is your stance on games like call of duty? That's a heck of a lot more personal and violent. Or maybe you are one of those idiots that thinks games make people do bad things? I played everything from wolfenstien to doom to EVE, and I seem to still know the difference between real life and a game.

I consider what you did there to be a mild form of quote mining, and a little bit of straw man for good flavor. Note that I prefaced that with an explanation that the individual can take easy steps to prevent being personally ganked. I never proposed or claimed that there needed to be nerfs in any way, shape or form, and completely agree that it is up to the personal responsibility of each player to not let themselves become a killmail.
However, that does not change the fact that it is incredibly un-EvE like in my appraisal. I willingly embrace the cornerstone of this game being able to ruin someone else's day, just as they can ruin my day.
Look in the mirror. Answer honestly. Is there anything people can do to ruin your day?
Nope. There are surprisingly few ways to actually interdict or prevent ganking on a large scale. Basically I'm saying you are perfectly happy being on the ruiner side, but since there's no actual way for players to put you on the other side of the table, the ruined, you are quite happy with the status quo. You can dunk them 24/7, but they have no actual way to dunk you.

You can blow up gankers whenever you want. They're pretty much always legal targets in highsec and generally speaking either FACPO or CONCORD will help you do it.
If the fact that gankers fly cheap disposable spaceships of very little value then your argument really lies with CONCORD, FACPO and sentry guns. Gankers don't fly disposable spaceships because they want to, they do it because these mechanics render loss of literally any ship they fly inevitable within literally seconds of engaging.
The very protection mechanics in highsec are what make player enforcement and retaliation against gankers non-viable. NPCs do all the retaliation for you and they do it perfectly every single time, which means that retaliation is already taken into account by the gankers before they do anything. |

Absolutely 100% agree. If everyone left High, there would be no one to gank. What is the sound of 20 angry catalysts if there's no one around to shoot?
That still doesn't address my statement though. You can ruin someone's day, but HS mechanics wise, they have no way to get at gankers and ruin the their day. This is violating the cornerstone on which the game was created. While leaving High Sec may be a form of content denial, that's pretty sub-optimal in terms of game design - you want to increase the number of ways people can meaningfully interact.
