Living out of a mobile depot and a bunch of secure containers in a station without a system has actually been kind of fun, and trying the whole "nomad" lifestyle has been an interesting experience, but the biggest thing I run into that I dislike about it is the whole "slowboat to the storage cans" since they have to be 5km from each other when anchored.
Even if they don't have as much space asa GSC does, are there any anchorable cans that last that can be anchored less than 5km from each other? Something that can be put within 1km of each other and 1 km of a mobile depot would be pretty sweet, even if they didn't have as much storage space as the GSC does. |

I don't know of any containers which you can anchor on top of each other. Though, it might be time to make the next step.. Anchor a small PoS of your own at a moon.

Also, I lol'ed at the bolded part of this sentence: "Living out of a mobile depot and a bunch of secure containers in a station without a system has actually been kind of fun" |

The problem with a POS is that I would need to have a corp, and I'm kind of having fun without having to deal with that right now. Plus, the fuel costs, and I would have to have a way to haul it around, and that gets tedious. Right now, everything I have and work with fits in my Svipul. Sure, I have to refit to cargo capacity when I'm ready to move, but that's a lot better than having to haul around a stick and fuel and charters.
Set up in a new system in a new constellation, drop the depot and some medium secure containers, refit for combat, and run anoms, refit to exploration, and run data and relics, I even tried mining in it once but that was way too much CPU needed. |

POS is not very mobile and therefore not really suited to the nomad life style.
As far as I know 5km is the minimum distance between cans anchored in space.
They come with problems of their own but wondering if a DST might help? I nothing else it would make a move easier, allow you take more stuff and it could be parked in a station close by while you lived the more nomadic style in the general area.

Yeah the PoS is not meant for a nomad style life, but it can make you settle a home in a stationless system. But it does indeed come with some tedious maintenance jobs and costs.
To improve on your "shack", an orca alt might be handy! |

I thought about training up for an Orca, but then I'd have to have a second account or find a station to leave it in. My Svipul does pretty well right now. 1.1k m3 cargo when fit with expander 2's, giving me a few medium and small secure cans, a mobile depot, a mobile tractor, and all my mods (stuffed into the secure cans), as well as any loot I want to bring with.
It may not be the most optimal thing in optimalizations, but it's fun and it works. |

Not saying they don't exist but situations like you're in are exactly why people have 2, 3, 10, 25 different accounts depending on how crazy they are. |

Don't anchor things 5 km apart. Instead, anchor them >150 km apart so you can quickly warp between them. |
