I did the same , just did it a tad ''better'' selling 10 capital bpo's on contract for the price of bpc's .

The other day I got mad because I successfully sold a Mastadon for 160k.
Not nearly as annoying as when, LESS THAN FIVE MINUTES LATER, I sold another transport ship (whatever the Amarr one is) for like 90k ISK.

I was updating my market orders earlier when I saw that some jerk undercut me by over 30% on a backup item (low IPH, decent ROI). Aghast at his insensitivity to my needs for exorbitant profits, I price-checked his sell listing against Jita orders. This dolt was selling for 10% below the highest buy order in Jita. Needless to say, I snatched up every unit my current balance allowed, zipped over to Jita in my blockade runner, and sold his items for an easy 50 million ISK profit.
It wasn't much in terms of sheer profits or isk per hour, but the satisfaction of seeing my own sell order retake the lowest listing with no change in price was more than worth it.
Sadly, someone else had the same idea or he noticed what I did, because the remaining units were gone from the market as soon as I returned from Jita. I could have made a few hundred million more, but oh well.
Folks, don't undercut so much that you are you below Jita buy orders. This guy could have had the items shipped via courier and easily made at least 150-200 million ISK in additional profits. You can check prices in other regions at any time via Eve-Central.com.

I made a killing, for me, the last week on tengus. Last night sold almost 30 for 90m above what I consider a stable price for them. You have to love it when null groups decide to make new doctrines and buy all the trade hubs out. It would appear though that they are coming down to more stable levels, below 200m, but maybe someone else needs more of them. |

My alliance uses a lot of tech 2 blasters, of the order of a million Light Neutron Blaster II per year. So it's a pain in the rear when those get expensive.
A while ago I set out to drop the price on them. I looked at what the production bottlenecks were - and saw that a big component of the cost was Robotics, a PI component. Could I make the price of those fall, I wondered?
Knowing nothing about PI, I asked a few questions and discovered that Robotics could easily be made by new players, and the newbs would make (for them) a lot of ISK out of it. So I paid someone 250m ISK to write a guide on PI aimed at brand new players, which is here: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=415269
It worked - within a few weeks, the price of Robotics was down 15% as more newbies got into PI and started flooding the market.
As for derps - the worst market misclick I've had was pretty minor, selling 5 Ishkurs to a 'factor of ten' trap buy order, for 2.4 million ISK each when fair price was 22m. Oops. I sent the buyer a "good fight" evemail out of grudging respect.

Frankly, I generally employ market strategies that purposefully leave my items lower than the relevant market hub's buy orders, to encourage people to buy my product.

Another one from a market I have now exited.
When the null mining changes were announced, I missed the boat on Zydrine/Megacyte. I wasn't able to log in for the 12 hours before the market reacted, and so couldn't get in at the ground floor.
But I noticed the changes affected Morphite as well, in a very roundabout way. Pre-change, mining morphite was a chore done in order to 'finish' an anomaly, and as a result a lot of Morphite was produced as an unwanted byproduct of more profitable mining operations. Morphite thus paid a lower ISK/hr rate than other ores in null.
But with the changes, the incentive to do this was gone, and most mining of morphite is now done by people that intentionally set out to mine morphite. Considering this, I expected morphite to hit 11000 ISK - the level needed for morphite mining in a Procurer to be on-par with ABC mining in a Retriever.
As such, I assessed that morphite had room to rise a lot in price. I bought a little under a million units at 6600 ISK. I wish I'd bought more, but I wasn't *quite* certain enough of my read on the supply dynamics to borrow the money needed to buy more.
I sold some of that morphite at 10k but most at 12.4k. (Some was used for production, but I consider that to be sold to my production efforts at the then-present market price).
Shoot everyone. Let the Saviour sort it out.

I'm a new face here in MD, and was pleasantly surprised by my ability to quickly fill a 5b Bond. I got a head start last night on procuring some materials and expanding infrastructure by capitalizing on an opportunity presented by my alliance taking another moon which I was able to get for free because :brofist:. I'm on schedule to begin ramping up my operation tonight, rather than waiting until next Tuesday as was planned... so, thanks, MD!
Now, this isn't 100% on topic, as it is not known yet whether this will be a great success or an embarassing kick in the teeth on my first public adventure, but I think it'll be fun keeping the community posted as best I can, keeping #OPSEC in mind. |

It's on topic - win or lose. I just think it's interesting for people to know that marketeers are actually doing stuff. (Stuff less boring than the standings grinding I've been doing for the past two days.)

It varies, but we're talkinga bout probably (generally) making something like less than 1m per item, on items spread across a region, usually no more than 10 items (in 1-2 qty ea stacks) in any given station.

Well there was this one time when I had bought a hulk bpc. Well 9 months later I had forgotten it and was going through my old contracts and saw this nice 1m hulk bpo contract. For the next 5 hours I went through all of my assets searching for this bpo. In the end I was crying in fetal position while writing petition for logs on my account (I wasn't thinking clearly back then). Well ccp was nice enough to tell me "htfu, it's only a feature.". So there I was relieved that I hadn't lost hulk bpo.

I do this often if and only if my goal is to lower prices in the hub for a buyup.
If Light Neutron Blaster IIs get to 440000.00 on buy orders in a hub, I might well post a few at 440000.01 across the region in bad locations, and put up a massive buy order at the same price in the hub station. Goal is people see 'ooh, cheapest order in the region is 440000.01 and there's ten different orders, better 0.01 ISK them all'.
Doesn't work well on modules. Does work well with other goods.
Sometimes I'll price my stuff lower again - that just means I'm lazy or out of contract slots, and I want someone to buy it from me and haul it to the hub for me.
Shoot everyone. Let the Saviour sort it out.
