With the death of the Empress Jamyl I of the Amarr Empire we are awaiting for the Amarr Succession process to begin. Amarr Succession is a "rituals occur in a strict order and take a few weeks to complete."
The Current Heirs are: - Yonis Ardishapur - Uriam Kador - Aritcio Kor-Azor - Merimeth Sarum - Catiz Tash-Murkon
Should it look like last time... i think that not especially with limited ship prizes, taking part in a event is a reward in itself.
What do you think CCP is planning for this ?

They plan to do another trial :)
Now this is how yesterday should have been handled as well - the glorious cut scene was a bit disapointing. |

For those curious about what the various royal houses stand for, there is an article up on EVElopedia offering a broad summary.
https://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Politics_of_the_Amarr_Empire
"The word of the Empress is the word of God, the will of the Empress is the will of God. Let no man seek to shirk his obligations before God and His chosen representative in this world."

Ran an article regarding the succession trials announcement: 'Succession trials confirmed next year to select the new Emperor/Empress'
What we know so far:
-Succession Trial Date: 21 to 23 April of YC 118 -Only Amarr & Khanid ships will be allowed to participate (In detail: only ships that exclusively require Amarr ship skills) The class of ship has not yet been determined. - Champions must have positive unmodified standings towards the Amarr Empire - Champions can be of any race or Bloodline (a change from the previous Championship!) - Champions may not put forth an Heir of their Choice, as the Heirs will select the best 5 of those after the Championship Tournament to fight for them in the final Succession Trial.
More details concerning rules, registration & the Championship trials will be released in a future declaration.
See 'Announcing the Amarr Championship' thread by CCP Logibro for this information. It will be a Fanfest event.

The real unanswered question is Khanid.
"In YC 111, the Khanid Kingdom assisted the Empire in the capture of Dochuta Karsoth. For their assistance, and in an effort to find additional allies who would not oppose her on the grounds of having been cloned, Empress Jamyl I offered the Family a seat on her Privy Council. Khanid II accepted her offer, yet remained separate from the Empire.
"There are some whispers that Khanid II is not content with simply being the King of his own realm and seeks to reestablish the Khanid Family as a full Heir House. Perhaps, they say, he even wishes to become Emperor outright, though he has made no action to support such rumors."
So the question is, will he take place in the Trials?
Technically, he should be able to. Also technically, he shouldn't.
So this one is for the DEVS to figure out. I could argue for a month why or why not.
But whichever way Khanid goes, it's going to effect the Trials and the Empire.

I hate to think this.
But what happens if she comes back as a drifter program with new ideas? There has been video via the scope showing drifter harvasting capsules? It could be very upseting to the AMARR citizens. I mean why invade, if you can replace the ruler with one of your drifter clones? |

Good catch, but as long as nothing comes from the devs, Khanid isn't a heir house (The Privy council has members beyond the Royal heir houses, so it isn't that unual) It would make for a very inetresteng Succession trial. Perhaps you could ask in the Fiction forum? Devs tend to reply there on some lore matters.

On the Hydrostatic Podcast CCP Falcon said that for the finals on the Fanfest there will probably be two Heirs left and possibly it will be 5v5, nothing final yet.

Max pledged his full support (In stream chat) behind Kador if I remember? Need verification on that... But many people are petitioning for Khanid's heir status to be restored.
I would actually think this would make a good live event. We all get in amarr and khanid ships and parade to the council for the specific purpose of protest to lobby Khanid's reinstatement. |

Khanid status in the upcoming Trials as mentioned in Hydrostatic Podcast by CCP Falcon(i think) is still undecided
But i'm personaly againts it... he is no longer Heir and it was his decision even if he is on Privy Council.

Yeah, unfortunately Merimeth doesn't have a picture in-game. I had to create one from scratch for the page, with the general idea for his look provided by ISD Sheliak Mesarthim.

Well, since the AT have proven that players cant be trusted I think it would only be fair if CCP had devs fighting.
Thats my 2 cents on the subject about Amarr Succession trials... |

How to cancel a competition involving capsuleers? Yes, sake of it "idiotic" show. All this was started, not for the sake "drifters" and a new invasion. It is for the "show"
Sit two producer. One says to the other: Listen sales are down, nobody wants to buy albums. We must do something. The second he says: Let's kill soloist. Everyone will mourn for him and buy a keepsake old and new albums.
