I had a question about ship speed fluctuation I have noticed. I was observing with my Brutix which had a top speed of 217 m/s and with a 10MN afterburner which could top 452 m/s wasn't always travelling at that speed. For example, yesterday morning I spent the morning in a .5 system killing rats to see what type of salvage I could find. I was moving at 217 m/s unmodified-452 m/s with afterburner. In the afternoon I was doing agent mission's for giggles and iwas only moving at 180 m/s unmodified to 389 m/s with afterburner. Ive been noticing this strange fluctuation for the last several days now. Is this normal? If it is whats the cause behind it?

Edited by: Crumplecorn on 12/12/2006 11:40:33 Missions are in empire, so check the engine intakes for squished carebears.
They reduce engine efficiency and hit and run is a CONCORDable offence.
Edit: Just realised this can't be the cause; you were ratting in Empire too. nvm ----------

Edited by: Kaizek on 12/12/2006 11:44:07 Nope no change in setup, obviously I dropped one highslot weapon to fit on the salvager but according to the fitting readout no change in ship speed should occur. But I was noticing this fluctuation prior before I even had a salvager unit installed.

No change at all (besides salvager)? Not even a change from a T1 to a named module somewhere? ----------

Filled cargohold means slower top speed and less maneuverability.

Aha that might be it, I do depending on situation switch out from T-II ammo to T-1 from time to time. I was not aware that ammo could affect ship speed. Good to know now.
