Please forgive me if this is not the correct forum for posting a suggestion (I did a quick check of forums and didn't see one that looked obvious).
I really like the destroyer hulls but I don't seem to have much use for them outside of L1 missions and the current T2 destroyers seem like they would only ever be used in 0.0 PVP.
I would like to suggest a 2nd family of T2 Destroyers - Gunships.
Gunships would be similar to the T1 cruiser hulls that can fit battleship sized guns. These Gunships would have bonuses to either medium turret tracking speed or medium missile launcher rate of fire and medium missile launcher module reload speed along with a 50% reduction in MWD cap req (not sig bonus redux). Or maybe a 75% reduction in CPU/power reqs for combat scanners
I like the idea of ridiculously armed, super fast, light tanked gunships. Something that can roll in, get under another guy's medium guns and flay him alive. Currently the cruisers that fit large guns have 8 high slots but trade for a light tank. Same would be the case here, except I would rather see 2 of those high slots put down in to mids or lows for increased utility leaving only 6 high slots as destroyers don't have much in the way of utility slots.

The thing you want is a brawling T3D. It exists.
Medium guns on destroyers with tracking bonuses on all four hulls is a silly concept, larges on BCs worked because large guns have a huge leap in projection and made the BC hulls into light sniper platforms. Medium guns don't have quite the same leap over smalls, and using smalls would ALWAYS be superior if your goal is to orbit up tight under mediums. |

Having a "gunship" class of destroyer would be redundant considering that is exactly what a T1 destroyer is to begin with. |

This has been suggested before.
While the concept is good having daydreamed of similar for some time we have to face facts: nobody wants new ships because existing ones are broken. |

I think was is being asked is not a T2, but a "tier 3" destroyer similar on concept to the "Tier 3" battlecruisers.
Not a bad thing, and thinking... would fit well with the idea I had a little bit ago but just posted here.
Would be interesting. A heavy weapon mounted destroyer could essentially be ran anti-battleship vs closer range, high dps. |

Why do you need one more paperthin high dps ship? To make high sec ganking even more easier? So the catalyst would be immideatelly replaced with gunship. |

did he just say my desis have no use in PvP and that my flycatcher was only good in 0.0?
as for the idea all i see happening is either it is to expensive to fly over a t3 or it is so cheap that it just gets used for HS ganking

Destroyers are already gunships designed to counter frigates, I would prefer tech II destroyers to take the form of small gang command ships, except with the command links being targeted modules. Want your squad to have links? Maintain formation and keep them all locked then.
I'd also filter this upwards through the ship classes effectively spidering command bonuses on grid. Want your fleet to have bonuses at maximum levels? You'd better have well trained and disciplined command pilots and squad/wing/fleet commanders.
So FC spiders to the wing commanders to provide his boost bonus, wing commanders to their squad leaders and so on. |

deaf ears here man. been saying for years if you pull off the bubble launcher dictors can expand their roles. Quite nicely in fact. I wrote this off as either laziness to train interdictors up. Or tunnel vision....thinking outside the box, opting to no use its ability to fit bubble just too much radical thinking for them. |
