Being that EVE has been around so long, why is it that the sounds are seldom in sync? For example, most of the time I turn off things (mining laser, shield enhancers, mining drones, etc...) the corresponding sounds seldom turn off also. Also when a roid has been depleted, the notification is seldom on time.
Why is this?
When I am in a quiet area mining, at times I go to forums to pick up on any tidbit of cool thing I can read while waiting for ore storage to fill up. It would be nice if the sounds were reliable to quickly switch back to EVE to respond to the circumstances.
I cannot be the only one with this problem. |

Having to pay attention to the game you are playing to play it efficiently is not a problem.

Nonsense. I stated a flaw and for some reason you feel it is ok to insult me. Of course I pay attention. You need to refrain from being negative. Go troll WOW threads instead. Please! |

I'm not trolling, the CODE exists for this very reason. Also, telling you you need to pay attention is not an insult. If you do not notice when you ore hold is full, then you are not paying attention.

You've been playing this game since 2008, apparently as a miner and do not know of CODE?
Where were you yesterday when I was arguing in another thread that some people will not wander out of their comfort zone no matter what CCP does to try and force player interaction? I was told they all left after 2 years - but, bless your soon to be frozen corpse, here you are. Here you are indeed. |

This is by design, if everyone's client was perfectly in sync with the server there would be constant lag and/or tidi whenever there were a large amount of pilots on the node. It's more pronounced with the sounds but the same occurs with the graphics, what you see on the screen is rarely in perfect sync with the server.

This makes sense to me. It does sometimes go on for quite some time though, I always figured it was my system because I always play on laptops with good but not stupid good specs. And I also normally have more than one client running. |

It is possible to lose your connection for some time (not sure how much) before you get the socket closed error, if it can regain the connection, it will not time out but the sounds and visuals may desync.

I just came back after 3+ years and no, I have not stayed in the same place. What's the big deal, you are making?
Try leaving EVE and coming back after 3 years. It takes a while to relearn things and how to fit ships and what you want to concentrate on. |

Sorry, I don't get this either. Given what you wrote, that means the server is ping'd every 10 or more seconds and that doesn't make sense to me. I am sure the server is ping'd many, many times a second so that there is fluidity, especially during battles.
Other wise we would be waiting 10 seconds to catch the response on our shots.
The sounds on mining sometimes stop on their own immediately but most of the times, my lasers keep mining for sometimes as much as 30 seconds. Another example is the shield extender. I turn it off and about 10 seconds later the sound turns off.

Maybe, depending on your system, lower your setting to interval 1 or immediate. If it's up, it could slow your video, also effecting you system causing your audio to lag. I have a dedicated audio processor with my card, but I could imagine integrated systems could be effected and experience latency.

In b4 CODE means "In Before CODE. (arrives and derails the thread)"
CODE. is an in game organization that uses a technique known as "Suicide Ganking" to kill miners in highsec. They have a roleplay that they use on the forums to justify their actions. They are a controversial group, often called both saviours of the game and bullies. The destinction often comes down to weather or not the person describing them was killed by them or not.
Besides Goonswarm, CODE is one of if not the most infamous and hated groups in the game. The official forums are often derailed into long rants about the validity of CODE. |

I went looking for an audio setting or any setting in EVE that matched your suggestion. I found none. What interval setting were you talking about?

Proactive? I am flying a Procurer with serious shield tanks mining in 0.6 with 5 Hobgloblins protecting me. I flip back and forth sometimes but not all the times. What does proactive mean to you? Read tutorials? I have 5 printed EVE manuals sitting right next to me. Huh? |
