Hello all, first off yes this an alt as id like to keep my main nice and quiet lol.
IM a carebear, I like mining and mission running. Its just how I like to play. I also love the tingle I get when I undock.
You see I like the gankers and code. It adds a great tension to the game that I don't get anywhere else. Yes ive been caught and blown up a few times and yes its a pain, but the rush from trying to get away is intense. Im not much of a shooter, I always run and im now quite good at getting away and am seldom caught. I even make my fits a little harder for missions by keeping in mind other players coming after me. I hope that by doing everything I can to make you gankers work for my corpse im helping give a little back by engaging in my own way and making a little content back lol.
I say welcome the gankers and code members. They make high sec a really fun place to be. Perhaps we should be a little gentler to new players and help them understand the dangers in the game first then blow the hell out o them later.
What im trying to say is that pvp and ganking in high sec is perfect, eve is not meant to be totally safe anywhere. I think we all should make more of an effort to explain this to new players to lessen the shock when it happens. |

If you really want to welcome them, roll an alt and shoot the wrecks of the freighters they gank. Or join the anti-ganking efforts in general. See the anti-ganking channel and there you find links to the Highsec Militia.
Highsec has a gank pipeline and IMO it's to be credited with players not becoming entirely bored out of the game. There's always red and flashy red players to shoot in this pipeline and I recommend all "carebears" give it a try, pod a goonie or some CODE. pilot or two, enjoy the rush and welcome to PVP.

Flashy yellow tends to be "suspect baiting". If you engage a yellow, you too will be yellow and subject to attack.
I watched one suspect bating group farm battleships in a major mission hub for months. I would shoot at them with an alt in a cheapie frigate and they would not even bother to shoot me. No true suspect just sits there at a gate or station (but they will stick around at that station to go to station gaming if things don't go well).
Eventually that one suspect baiter pee'd off some Russian group and that resulted in the baiter losing a pimped faction BS to the tune of 31 billion ISK and I haven't seen that person log on since that day.
So I would say if you want to go after suspects, don't do it in anything that's expensive enough for them to care about their killboards. They whole idea of suspect baiting is killboards and loot. Shoot at them on the cheap to cut your teeth on PVP and it's wasting their time.
With flashy reds and -10s, you can engage them even with the safety on green and not be flagged yourself. Chasing them is half the fun.

First time I saw the term "carebear" in use for an MMO was in DAoC.
Carebear goes back to the days of the Atari 2600. You see we loved those Ataris because the cartridges were useful in those almost daily incidents of dinosaur attacks. We would drop cartridges as we ran from them and the fat kid in the back would trip on them and get eaten while the rest of us got away. But I digress.
Atari games that had a "kiddie mode" had a teddy bear face symbol on the packagin - there were several symbols regarding the kind of game it was and what modes it had. The bear symbol was one of them. I forget the other symbols (my brain froze during the ice age that followed -or maybe too much ice in too many Cuba Libres I don't know)

To clarify the bit above about flashy yellow If you attack someone who is suspect flagged (flashy yellow) it will create a limited engagement between the two of you. This means the two of you can duke it out without fear of CONCORD for the duration of the engagement. They generally last five minutes past the last point of aggressive action taken by either player.
You will NOT be flagged suspect by engaging a suspect in this manner. Other players may not attack you without fear of CONCORD during your engagement, however, they may rep the suspect which will cause them to go suspect as well. This doesn't mean they can attack you, but they still get to meddle with your fight.
Come hell or high water, this sick world will know I was here.

Standings can be repaired, the SoE arc can be repeated every 3 months and the standings boost for the faction of your choice is quite good, you can also mission for Caldari agents that aren't in Caldari space to get the story line missions. If they get really bad then there's the faction standings repair plan.

You sir, are winning Eve. You have the right attitude to go far and achieve great things.
Maybe I'll get the chance to attempt to relieve you of your ship, maybe I'll succeed, maybe you'll best me, but either way we'll both have fun.
With an attitude like that, demonstrating you you truly understand the nature and the appeal of Eve, I'm sure you could safely post on your main if you chose to. You wouldn't have any problems from me. (Except maybe the occasional war dec of approval)
