This is something I've been thinking over for a while and I would appreciate community input on it.
Imagine a T2 destroyer hull that can fit a special kind of probe launcher, one that can scan down cloaked ships. This won't let you determine precisely where they are, only somewhere within about 10km. Now imagine this destroyer can fit a special high slot module that decloaks every ship within about 5 km of them and stops that ship from cloaking again for a couple minutes.
This ship hull would serve two valuable roles in my opinion:
1. It would remove the problem of afk cloaked players shutting down systems. The intent would be to make any active player who is cloaked be able to avoid the ship by warping away, but any afk player would be de-cloaked as the T2 ship searches the grid they warp to.
2. It would give another T2 destroyer hull with a legitimate use. Let's face it, destroyers need more T2 support. Back in WWII destroyers were assigned to chasing down submarines, so the role seems appropriate.
Just curious to see what people think of this idea and if it might break the game in some way that I have not forseen (of course it wouldn't let you decloak people who just jumped through a gate). If not, then I think it would be a useful hull that CCP could implement to add content to the game. |

There is a contradiction in here. A player who is afk cannot "shutt down" your systems. It is all in your head man. Just remember this.

No, just no.
This is not a problem at all, you realise, just something that has been cooked up inside your tinfoil hat-wearing self. Really, if you think about it, it's your cowardice and fear that are 'shutting down systems', not an afk cloaker, who in your very own words is afk and so can't do anything.

It doesn't matter if they're AFK or not - they can't do anything directly while cloaked, except observe. However, the one thing that they *can* do is greatly feed your hysteria and fear, which they seem to be doing admirably well.
In that regard, cloaking is a fantastically successful activity, even if they don't do anything in and off themselves.

Why?
They can't do anything at present, so why would you need to make it risky?

if a small entity can shut down an entire carebear system with 1 character then they are doing it right and winning by economical warfare.
