Dear CCP,
Since the Revelations upgrade, a lot of people can't patch or get a steady connection or logon at all. Before revelations i and a lot of others didn't have this problem.
the solution for all these problems/bugs can be easily fixed, now you ask yourself how does he know how to fix all of it ? well the solution is very simple : rollback to pre revelations and fix your game before you send your paying customers into the woods or ignore em all together.
i say YES to rollback.

The cluster at 29-32k every night says otherwise. I think it's more of an issue on the user's end than CCP's. If there was a deffinate issue with the client, and on CCP's end, the server wouldn't be anywhere near the usual numbers, which it currently is (and then some).
Also, remember that any operating system below Windows 2000 is no longer suported, or tested. So if you have do not have Windows 2000 or XP, and EVE doesn't work, CCP can't do anything, and you're on your own. ---

I'm wondering if the people who can't patch are running an OS that's no longer supported?
I've yet to have any problems patching at all, and it's not like the patching program CCP uses is something *only* CCP uses - it's a common patcher program that I've seen other game distributors use (I think it's used by UbiSoft as well, and despite their games, the patches at least work :P).
Besides, a rollback is no longer possible - just not going to happen no matter how much you scream. Cannot be done.

since i can be online for about 5 minutes at a time i stoped playing and have read almost every post made on this forum i can say i have enough intel on how many people have the same problems as me.
the patch problem i solved by installing eve on other PC then patch and copy all files to my game machine. had same problem with patching in beta but somehow the last 4 patches ( started playing eve again 4 months ago) before revelations went well on my game machine, with revelations i can't patch anymore. my hardware/drivers are still the same only eve changed now patching and staying connected doesn't work anymore so tell me what's wrong ....
as for can i have your stuff ? Sure come and get it in Amsterdam i'll even roll you a doobie

hmm doobie.. guess its some stuff you inhale :-P
well patching is a memory intensife program, and most ppl who have trouble there dotn even know ther emight be issues with ram :-P 1 tiny broken bit is all it needs ;) your other pc might have better working ram, that might be the reason you can patch there.
and "intel".. most ppl dont use the forum, and the ppl who have NO issues here dont whine.. you only see the fraction of % of those whiners... no intel
some dev already said in some thread after one guy whined and said "all my buddys and a lot of ppl cant login and bla" that he checked the logs and noticed that only a few ppl have trouble.. but of course conspiracy :-P
and why cant you only play 5 min at a time? more data plz ---

I say NO.
I had no problems before Revelations, and none after.
Even though all of the content is designed for long term, existing players, it's decent content if you can use it.

Chances are problems you are having have nothing to do with eve.
After the revelations patch I was cursing blue murder at CCP at the problems I was receiving that I didn't have pre-revelations until I actually took the time to investigate. Eventually I found out it was my system that was at fault and resolved the problem. Eve now runs right for me again.
The patch gives people an escape route and something to blame their own system instabilities on. Now some problems may be due to the patch but no more than everyone else. Sure it's a little bit laggy etc at the moment but that's to be expected. With over 30k people logging on there are going to be some that have problems. My advice is to investigate your own system first. Check your system resources, check your drivers. try process of elimination.
Remove everything but the barebone system components from your pc. If you have more than 1 stick of Ram remove all but one, test that, then remove that and try another stick. Try a rebuild of your system.

Grez i am using XP sp2 :)
i logon can play for about 5 minutes then i get message connection lost. i logon again play for about 5 minutes i get message connection lost i logon again play for about 5 minutes i get message connection lost i logon again .......................................
enough info ?
as for the rest NOTHING in my computer changed exept eve patched to revelations before revelations i could patch and play all day long without trouble After revelations i can't patch and lose connection every 5 minutes. all other programs/games work just fine as usual. so it's not my fault CCP does a bad job and do nothing about it. i've tried all possible solutions to get rid of this BUG before posting at all. i'm out of options and only solution would be rollback and give CCP the time to FIX their bugs before patching the game to unplayable. this ain't Beta anymore but live and paying customers time.. they should solve the bug hunting on the test server that's why it's there..

It doesn't matter if nothing's changed in/on your system. YOU need to keep it up to date with drivers, etc, to prevent bugs and all sorts. What you refuse to understand, is that it's most probably an issue on your end, it doesn't matter if you think you've done everything - the fact that there are more than the normal number of players on TQ, means that not a lot of people are having problems (almost none), which would indicate that it is a problem on your end.
Update directX (there was an update in October, download it, doesn't matter if you have 9.0c already), upgrade your drivers, and clean your system out.
I suggest running log server, and bug reporting. ---

This weeks patch is appauling though. Revelations = fine. This weeks patch = sackable offence.
Serv/node crashes. The number of times I've been kicked off with a message that the server is rebooting after a database failover.
Appaulingly slow logon now at any time of the day. It used to only be slow for 30 minutes after the servers came up. Now it's slow all day.
Server freezing for minutes at a time, then racing to catch up (server/database quiery lag). Sitting at gates for upto 5 minutes with absolutely nothing happening. Can't chat, can't go anywhere else, can't do anything but wait. The only thing you get is 'session change already..blah blah' if you press jump again.

Yeah, it sounds like you need to call your ISP. If I had a quarter for every time I heard someone say "something's wrong with your software" every time there was a server or ISP outage between me and them, I'd be playing EVE for free.

Edited by: Phoenixhawk on 15/12/2006 03:32:34 Edited by: Phoenixhawk on 15/12/2006 03:31:31 You know, there has been a call for a roll-back ever since Cold-War & every patch afterwards when performace took a total dump. Its not going to happon. It would require admiting the problems. Used to be worse case you lost a day or two of play time, now its a week or two or longer. We all know patch delivery needs to be better, and just about every online game does this much better with no problems downloading the patches. During one of the weeks of not being able to play, i downloaded dungeons and dragons online trial, had a problem and got a chat with a gm, to explain exactly what was going on. and real answers, (imagine that & yes i've had to file a pettion becase i couldnt file a petetion) alot of other games i've played when we lost service for a day or two, accounts were credited for the service that was not provided. CCP is not a big company like SOE (who's CS cux too but at least they pretend to listen now and again) but with the merger maybe customer service will improve. some companys do some customer service better, some do worse. But Lord knows we dont play it for CCP or their service. we play it for the game itself. One of the best online games out there! (well when its working) and after years of support and multiple accounts and years of training. we are just not ready to give up yet. (sooner or later you can only fail so many times before by sheer odds you get one right) Stay Chilly & Watch Your Six!

Thats a ridiculous request. I bet he could play Counterstrike or WOW without issue. What makes EVE so different?
I manage network and datacenters for a living. If I told my customers the crap your feeding him, my kids would starve.
Oh right, the untested patches on Tranquility that kill the cluster. So glad my clusters are safe from CCP's QA dept.
the so-called stability testing on the test server are a joke. I participated and all I got was lag city and couldnt even fire my mods before being podded.

nonsense.
Yes, the game is in an awful state, but tbh it has neither gotten better or worse since Revelations, as far as connection problems...problems which are no more a priority for CCP now than they were pre-Revelations. You might as well just dispel whatever hope you might have in your mind that they really care about what a 'minority' of people are experiencing.
Apparently, from what I've found, the process is pretty simple: 1. (denial) of service. 2. Submit a petition. (anger) 3. The GM's will give you a rigorous 3 week to 2 month run-around testing your connectivity with third party software. (bargaining) 3. You resolve nothing (depression) 4. You carry on, stalwartly dropping connections every 5 minutes until you find something better to do with your life (acceptance).
Any derivation from this method (talking about it in forums, for example) will get your post locked for 'ranting', get your account messed with by GM's, or your ISK robbed from your account by the same. Don't be stupid. Just play ball and let them work out the bugs at thier leisure, which coincidentally is what they will do anyways.
