Hey all,
Any reason to run missions for more than 1 agent?
I'm currently running L3 missions with Caldari Navy and I'm wondering if I should be running missions for another agent/corp to improve my standings with them. Other than LP store access, is there any reason to?
I'm considering running missions for the Lai Dai corp, because I believe I need to get standings up with them to be able to do R&D later on?
Any other reasons why I should run missions for other corps?

You have pretty much nailed the primary motivation for NPC Corp selection: where is my time (LP) most valuable.
The individual Agent relationship plays a small part in the determination of what missions/payouts you get offered, if I remember correctly, but that relationship standing rises extremely fast.
Other decision factors would be relatively "safety" of the agent location, distance to nearest supply hub, etc.

If you run them for ISK / LP then I agree with Lan Wang find a nice out of the way agent for an NPC that gives good LP conversion rate and stay there.
If you like to explore, move around and see other places then yes it is worth it to run for many different NPC.
Running for many different NPC especially for different Factions is critical if you want to try and keep all of your faction standings in a decent place.
Each agent even within the same NPC has a propensity to give out missions from a small sub set of the total available, changing agents can change that sub set of missions that you are offered.
Each NPC will tend to give you more missions against a different NPC race. Some will give you a lot of Blood Raiders, while another NPC may give your more Angle Cartel.

Certain corps will offer services such as locating players for you. You can also gain access to "epic arc" story missions which give a substantial standing boost and some goodies for your trouble.
That aside , higher level missions offer better rewards but are harder to complete, level 4 missions in particular can be fairly good isk if you can do them efficiently.
Better the Devil you know.

In most cases and unless you have really high skill points you are better off running level 3's than level 4's as far as isk per hour is concerned so don't be in a hurry to rush into level 4's. However I've heard these burner missions can pay pretty well and haven't run them enough to talk isk per hour on those.
As far as different agents within the same corp I would say like Ralph said locator agents is pretty much it. However if you anticipate your corp or faction standings going lower with that corp or faction then maybe getting more agents up to where you have personal access to them. Also maybe just having access to more than one agent so that you can turn down certain missions and if you are on a 4 hour timer still be able to run missions where you are. Other than that I can't think of anything.
As far as an agent with a different corp or faction yes there are many reasons for that. The various corp's LP stores even with in the same faction have different LP items. So some corp's LP is worth more than others.
Also worth noting some corps that either exist in low or null sec, like pirate corps, or FW corps actually sell LP items for less. One of the easier ones of these to look at is SoE as they only have 3 corps. One of the corps (The Sanctuary) exists only in null sec and their items cost less to buy at their LP store and therefore their LP are worth more.
Further your standing with a corp or faction (I don't recall which for sure but I think it's corp) determines what you pay in transaction taxes. So if you plan on doing a lot of trading having standing with the corps of the station that you are trading in can matter.
As far as an agent with a different faction yes, as has already been said, balancing faction standings might be something that you would like to do so that you don't become shoot on site with one of the main faction's Navy. Also different factions LP has different value.
Those are the main reasons that I can think of. I am leaving out some reason that would be very particular to each person and their goals and aren't that big of a deal and I'm sure I'm forgetting a few but that's most of it. |

Thanks all. That's pretty much what I figured. I do need to check up those race specific epic arcs and I'll probably end up going round all the factions just to keep my standings aligned with each to prevent being that 'shoot on sight' guy.
Appreciate your comments

Everybody's answer pretty much covered most everything.
I will add that having high Faction standing allows access to most Agents within all Corporations within that Faction.
To access R&D Agents, you'll need both Corporation and Faction standing along with a few Science skills trained up.
Good luck to you.

when blitzing you spend more time warping around and loading stations/systems than you do shooting npcs so having a station with multiple agents where you can pick 2-3 missions at a time can save time and saving time means making more money!
ex. suroken has 3x lv3 caldari navy agents in the same station! too bad its a 0.7 so the lp payouts suck, and its caldari navy so the LP store sucks... but the perfect station for raising CN standings so you can trade in jita with low taxes.
beyond that diversifying standings with corps and factions is a good move as it opens up more LP stores. LP income can be volatile so having options to switch is important. I can do caldari/amarr/soe missions whenever I want and can freely move between corps/agents because of my faction standings. my one alt has access to SoE, minmatar, amarr, caldari, and gallente. sadly most of these standings are only at corp level so I am somewhat limited with what I can do, but I've gotten rather good at grinding standings so I can quickly move to other opportunities.

Corp standing earns you: * Access to higher level agents. * Reprocessing tax reduction * Broker discount * LP store rewards * Locator agents * Research agents. Not much point to these anymore [pun intended].
Faction standing earns you: * Access to all agents in the faction of a given level. * Broker discount
I don't like to cheese-off the opposing factions, so I decline missions against them. Using multiple agents allows me to get around the 4 hour declined-mission cooldown (stations with two agents of the same level are a rare but wonderful thing). It also allows me to choose agents different of different corps to keep me in good standing with everyone. |

As above. I usually don't care about empire standings, but have managed to get Caldari Police Force and Federation Navy standings to 6+ so I can use their level 4 agents to "fix" any empire's standings if I need to (do 16 missions then an important / story mission for the empire standings). I also worked on SoE standings because their LP store has some of the ships that are hot nowadays. |
