Any raven pilots with rigs who want to share their experiences with what rigs to use?

I was thinking about two rigs that reduce the capacitor need of all shield modules by 10% each (15% for the T2 variant), and one rig to make your ship faster. ------------------------------------------ Every ship has a base 60-70% resist against the primary damage type of the race that is the least able to vary it's damage types. |

untill i know what each of the rigs do specifically, i'll wait and see. i'd go, rof, shield rchg, and warhead damge

I went with cap recharge (100), missile ROF (200) and kinetic resist (50 cal) on my CNR (which has only 350 calibration)

From what iv'e read they stack with BCU's though :(
2 cap reduction for boosting and 1 cap relay rig thingy would make running the sweet little gist booster easyer, so thats what i would go with if i had a choice |

2 ROF and 1 damage isnt possible. Missile rigs take 200 calibration points, ships at most have 400 calibration points. I suspect to best increase your damage you'd be best using rigs that replace other modules so you can use BCUs instead.

A damage rig only gives one of the two different values a damage mod gives. For a bcu, you get a damage bonus as well as a rof bonus. A rig only gives one bonus. And for stacking, it doesn't matter if the bonus comes from a rig or a module.
So, the most logical way would be to replace other low slot modules with rigs to use more bcu (and of course, more than 3 don't make sense with the penalty you get anyways).

It depends what your using the Raven for, for for missions, I'd go with 2 Warhead Rigor Catyalist and either a cap recharge or shield Hp rig. Especially if using cruise missiles.
The Warhead Catyalist's reduce your missiles explosion radius by 15% each, unsrure if it stacks. Which means more damage vs. smaller targets. Also, it's only 100 calibration.
Final rig slot is up to you, cap rechare, shield HP, shield recharge, ect. Whatever is easiest to make.

3x cap increase.
Not cap recharge, cap increase. A cap increase still gives regen, AND you get more cap to work with.

Yes, but cap recharge increases your cap regen more then cap increase does. Reducing the recharge time by 15% means effectivly increasing your cap regen by 17,6%, increasing your cap 'only' adds the flat 15% bonus.
I'd say unless you run a perma tanking setup without any cap moduls(is that even possible?) get cap recharger or increase.
- they have no drawback - their bonus is pretty close to their module counterparts - they have no stacking penalty - depending on your setup they may free up slots you can use otherwise - usually will allow you to tank longer/better -------------------------------------- Agent & Mission-Info: http://www.eveinfo.com Evewide Market-Info: http://eve-central.com/ |

For a high end Raven, I guess cruise missiles with the rigor rig are pwn. Tanking rigs are really not helpful since you can tank it all anyway, and damage rigs are worthless since you already have 3 BCUs. Personally, since the rigor rigs don't work on torps I am putting 3 missile velocity rigs into my CNR so the T1 torps that replaced the now worthless Jav torps reach their target faster and are not as susceptible to NPC defenders. --------- ZOMG my sig was concordokkened! i already have 5 bcus fitted -.- also tanking is not a problem with a gist b type and dg amp.. so the only thing i need is more dmg!

Edited by: Exlegion on 18/12/2006 15:10:10 Keep in mind that there are some modules which do not have effective rig counterparts, such as BCU's and PDS. So you want to keep these on your setup. My current Raven setup is:
High: 6x Arby Sieges, 2x Heavy Diminishing (Nos) Med: 1x Target Painter, 1x XL Shield Booster II, 1x Shield Boost Amp II, 3x Rat-specific hardeners II Low: 2x BCU II, 1x Co-processor II, 2x RCU II
Since PDS's are are more useful than RCU's I'll be using 2x powergrid-increasing rigs to replace my RCU's with PDS's. The third rig I'm still debating. I think I may go with either capacitor recharge increase, or shield boost capacitor need decrease.
I should be able to end up with 2x BCU, 1xCPU, 2xPDS on my lows

Easy answer: reducing a larger number by some percent has a greater effect than adding that same percent to a smaller number.
(cap/recharge)*2.5= peak recharge (simple raven values)
(6500/700)*2.5= 23.21 reduce recharge by 15% (700*.85)=595 (6500/595)*2.5= 27.31
To increase the first recharge-rate to the new value by other means you'll need to increase it by... (27.31/23.21)=1.17664 (17.66%)
(23.21 * 1.17664)= 27.3098

Thats 30% extra cpu for your launchers, even with good skills thats gonna hurt. I'd go with 3xcap rechargers and replace some PDS with BCUs

It's only in regen though, cap increase allows you to bank more cap into a fight.

Could you please give me a hint how to take down smaller ships with torps? I've tried some lev4 misses, I could take care of one or two BSs but couldn't scratch the minors. Took forever to take down even one of them. I thought I was like dremaing. It used to be different but I passed nearly two years. Any help on this matter would be awesome.

If you have some distance between your ship and small frigs you should be able to pop them with torp t1's (1 or 2 volleys max). If they're at 20km or less then your best bet is to use rat-specific drones (preferable tech 2). By the way, I also use a Target Painter on smaller-than-battleship targets.
