small question and I'm sure there is an easy answer I'm just overlooking.
while flying through space (or hiding in it) and i select an object, like an asteroid or mining station or whatever...how do I deselect it? normally i can just click somewhere in open space but that isn't working. neither am i able to find a solution with keybinds or some other setting unless i've just missed it.
normally it wouldn't be that much of an issue except some of these mining stations have these exorbitantly long names that are a blight on my screen and i can't get rid of them unless i select something else. of course that's an option but i can't believe there is no functionality to have nothing selected.
thanks in advance |

There isn't a way.
The only way for you to not select something is for the thing you have selected disappear either by warping, depleting, or exploding.

My main compy crashed so I can't log in to check atm but I thought that the escape button worked.
Just to be clear I am talking about deselecting something not dropping target which is what I believe you are asking. |

On a related note, if the problem is the in-space display, it is possible to customise it more the way you like by editing the XML. This article covers the topic: http://eveill.blogspot.co.uk/2013/05/colorful-ui-settings.html
PS. If you do edit it, then test it before you go into a 100 ship fleet battle! A **** up at this scale makes for a rather colourful screen display!

yup, that's what I'm trying to do. nearly every PC game i've ever played allows you to deselect an object that is selected, it's just odd to me this game doesn't. seems like such a small thing until you play a game that doesn't have that functionality. |

Verified hitting the escape key brings up the configuration / quit menu.
