So i am almost done with the 5 career agents (Only need to finish exploration), and i cant help but to wonder where do i go from here ?
I haven't tried any combat-based pvp yet Someone told me yesterday there are other kinds of pvp in game too). But i think this is the way for me to go :)
But i dont really know how to move on from here, i get that i can find another agent and do missions. But i dont really want to do that.

That said it's only important for living and operating in parts of highsec so it migh not be an issue for you.
Absolutely find a player run Corp though, we are the content in eve so it's in your interest to find a group with aligned goals/ambitions.

this is true and a decent player corp will teach you more than missions ever will, you will enjoy the game so much more than being a solo player

I woul suggest RvB, eve uni if you want to move to null there's brave and (completely bias here ) PFR (4-c8mi is one of the most active null pvp systems)

A suggestion.
If you've done 4 of the 5 training arcs you probably have around 10m in assets behind you (minimum).
Spend a million or two of it fitting up a frigate for PVP combat. Make sure you have something to stop the opponent fleeing (a warp scrambler, or a warp disruptor) and guns that all favor the same range, and some module aimed at making you faster than your opponent (an afterburner, a web or a microwarpdrive).
Then get into a fight somehow, and tell us how it went.
If you get slaughtered, that's cool. Tell us what you learned, and someone will help you out further.

Ahha fresh meat for the grinder
There's more than a few new player friendly organisations that allow you to plunge into various aspects of the game and to learn from others. As above, join a corp if you can. Eve Uni (their recruitment process is long winded, their wiki is essential reading) specialise in teaching people about the game. RvB is a cheap, casual and friendly way to get into PvP. In nullsec there's Pandemic Horde, Brave, and KarmaFleet that all welcome newbies.
There's a weekly new player PvP fleet starting this weekend (19 Sept) run by Pandemic Horde which you may find to be of interest.
A former hisec mercenary/purveyor of high quality spaceship explosions has composed some useful articles to aid newbies protect themselves from mischief, or to do mischief unto others. Use the knowledge contained therein and abuse the hell out of it.

Instead of commenting on player corps I will leave this here. https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=331341&find=unread
The SOE ARC is a decent next thing for new players to do no matter what they ultimately want to do in the game. It will introduce you to more practical application of the skills you have been learning in the tutorials. It will drag you all over the EvE universe so you will get to see all of the major regions. Yes it is long but nothing says you have to complete the entire ARC. It will give you more ISK in your wallet. |

The terms "New Player Friendly" and "Welcome" are used loosely here, believe me. In EVE terms, that just means that they'll let you join. Nothing more. With the large corps like Karma and Brave be prepared for high tax rates and signing over your first born child to indulge their paranoia and RP play styles. Keep in mind, if you're paying such high tax rates, then the "free stuff" they offer is not really free. You'll be paying for it eventually if you stick around long enough. Finding a corp in this game is a chore. By far, it's the most impersonal experience I've ever had in any MMO. I hope you enjoy reading and navigating wiki pages. =)
I'd suggest not wasting time on finding a corp, you can do that any time. Right now you would just be cannon fodder anyway to them. Just do what seems fun to you.

this isnt true, when i started a guy in local helped me get into faction warfare (Mostly Sober) it was easy and i didnt even have a clue but i learned how to fly a ship and how to listen to an fc, from there i went to nullsec and just looked at the recruitment forum and found a corp which looked interesting as they done piratey stuff which i enjoyed, joined the local channel and was helped getting into the corp. went to a few other places but always seemed to end up back with the same group of guys.
When i joined faction warfare i learned more from the guys in the alliance than from staying solo because i just didnt have a clue, and my dual tanked auto cannon rocket atron kinda showed i had no clue.
Most good corps will give you ships for free and also srp your doctrine ships, opinions like yours just give joining a corp a bad reputation but this game shines when you have a team and people you can learn from

Eve is a sandbox game and the devs have been intentionally moving away from those tutorial missions. They are similar to other games that have breadcrumb quests to lead you to and teach you everything. Eve is very much not like those games. In Eve you have to figure out what you like to do and how you like to do it and who you like to do it with and / or against.
The ending of those tutorial missions in the past has left many players feeling lost and added to the washout rate of the game. IMHO you are much better off realizing sooner rather than later that no one can tell you how you should play this game and that you have to figure that out for yourself. To me that's probably the best part about this game.
For those reasons and more I recommend first that you not take anything any other player says as the gospel truth and realize it is just their way of doing things and maybe that works for you maybe it doesn't.
I also suggest you try everything. Try all kinds of stuff. Try missions, Try trade. Try industry, Try various aspects of PvP, Try different ships. Try different weapon and tanking styles etc....
After you've tried a lot of different things you'll have a better idea of what you like and don't like and can focus more on those things.
Also make friends. This game is a true MMO and it's all about your interactions with other players. You are better off going out and making a bunch of enemies in this game than trying to solo it.
So talk in local, find some decent public chat channels, maybe find a good corp and just have fun with it. It is a game after all. |
