i mine quite alot and have realised one day i was getting bored and then 3 friends in channel said hey mining is boring. it doesnt have to be, not at all.
my proposal.
the minigame you play in exploration is so addictive people risk life and ship to get there first.
Mining barges should be able to activate a mining laser augmentation minigame. that requires no skills to train so even new miners can use it.
benefits,
T1 barges = 5% boost to yield T2 barges = 10% boost to yield
hacking the game is tough but achievable. can retry untill it works, but when it works only last 30 mins on a timmer at the top of your screen then boosts will drop.
i think this will drastically improve mining forever
hope you like my idea. and hey why not do it gets rid of bots afk miners etc. well kinda.

This is a great idea, and something that is desperately needed to keep miners from going crazy,
It would have to stack with current Orca or Rorqual boosts though as to not render them useless though.
Really love this idea, it could be something like the current hacking mini game. |

if your too busy then i would guess you mine with more than 1 toon. well yeah maybe you wont want to minigame 10 miners, i cant see a drawback to this idea |

No thank you. I hate, hate, hate that awful little minigame thing. It seems to me that your suggestion is based on a very narrow view of what mining is in eve. Mining for me is something that requires attention ... lest I have hostiles jumping in an ruining my day ... and I do not want horrible minigames distracting me and, even worse, my mining yield being linked to them. If you're a bored hisec miner then there are many other options available to you. Sure Somer Blink has died but I have no doubt that other hisec miners here can provide you with options.
Edit: lol, I just noticed OP is TEST ... damn, I got caught in a gotcha.
I guess I am almost a 'vet' by now. Hopefully not too bitter and managing to help more than I hinder.

My irony sensors were tingling. But it seems they are not calibrated correctly.
Please consider that explorers just might want to be the first because they like the reward and not the game itself. That's why they leave canisters with less desirable content untouched after scanning them. |

Might be a good idea, but seriously? One minigame for 30 min boost? I'd say make this game work on selected target basis, i.e. you target rocks, you activate lasers and play minigame to get the boost. When you change targets of mining lasers, boost is lost and you have to play the game again. Then nerf the base yield by 33% yet grant the boost for minigame as 65%. That way multiboxers, especially high sec ones will sit on their 67% while player behind the keyboard or a null guy humping a big spodumain rock will get 110,5% of current amount.

I don't think anyone "likes" the mini-game. It's something explorers put up with to get the rewards, it reduces competition from players who can't stand it, and it gives a window of opportunity to attack the explorer.

firstly i am a miner in null attacked by fleets 4 times a day every day ok.
secondly minigame is fun because of the reward and excitement of getting it, boosts are reward , and all miners LOVE BOOSTS
thirdly i believe now, the people who are against giving miners some excitement and reason for not afk, in this thread. are CODE, lol
as for 30mins rewarded boosts. hey was just a suggestion

I like the idea of adding something to make mining more interactive, but not sure this is the best idea. Every 30 mins really isn't that often, so not sure I'd say that it adds much interaction. And the amount of boost seems a little high, though I might be alone in that thought given no one else has mentioned it yet :P
At the same time, I like to mine to relax (though I rarely bother anymore tbh). Adding too much complexity to make it more interactive would likely detract from the relaxing aspect. |
