***Introduction***
I am pleased to say that I am going to be running for CSM XI in the next upcoming election. Last year I wrote a little about myself, but IGÇÖd like to go ahead and introduce myself to those who may not know me.
My name is Erika Mizune and I have been playing Eve activity since 2011 (not including my first account I failed at in 2010). I found out about Eve through Eve Radio. I joined in the IRC (Internet Relay Chat) channel and from there I started talking with people in the channel and I wanted to learn more; so one of the staff members had sent me a invite for a buddy trial. It did take me a little while before things started clicking, but eventually I did learn to love the game and I loved the idea of it; it was unlike any other game that I have played. I was hooked to say the least.
From there, the rest is history as I started to make friends and become immersed within the community.
Being an active member of the community is something that I have been proud of. I am currently serving with Eve Radio under my main alias, DJ Yumene. I have from there always been someone who has loved to step up and and help others that ask and need it. I want to give back to the community...
So that brings me here, to this post announcing my candidacy for CSM XI. I am asking for your support in placing your vote for me in the elections. I have the passion and the drive to want to give back and help, with the community at the heart.
In-game I am a focused industrial player living in 0.0 sovereignty space. I am a miner, manufacturer, hauler, and pretty much anything else in between. On the side I also have a character that I have specialized in PvP skills and I have had a share of pirate, FW, and Sov PvP experience. I always enjoyed also trying other things outside my normal play style as well.
***Industrial Focus***
The industrial side of the game, still, seems to be most un-appreciated. There have been changes introduced, however there is still a lot more that could be done I feel to make things feel better. Industrial tasks and jobs are known to be the most tedious of the other areas (and possibly market trading/market pvp), and for me, IGÇÖd like to see the industrial side get some more love.
***Industrial GÇ£Little ThingsGÇ¥***
ThereGÇÖs always ideas for little things here, and I started thinking of little things a good while back when CCP had opened up a topic to get ideas for GÇÿCorp Little ThingsGÇÖ - and I did submit my own ideas for the thread, but also thinking on the industrial side:
- PoS Moon Mining: When you are at your PoS in order to collect your materials from a moon harvester you have to first offline the silo to take your items out, but when you go to turn it back on with the right click option, where the GÇ£offlineGÇ¥ option was, there is a link to GÇ£unanchor structureGÇ¥ with the GÇ£onlineGÇ¥ option bumped to the center of the menu. This can cause much frustration if you accidently click that unanchor option.
Possible Idea: Change position of unanchor option and online option to avoid misclicks.
- PI W/ Less Clicking: Self explanatory I think, reducing the clicking would be nice when it comes to setting up your planets, especially setting up links between the structures you place down and setting schematics for all your facilities.
Possible Idea: Possibly be able to save factory GÇ£plansGÇ¥ (like ship fitting) where you can choose to use a saved GÇ£planGÇ¥ to lay down instead of having to re-build everything. You would still have to create routes/links and set your schematics however - this would simply be laying down the groundwork of the buildings.
- New Options For Mining: I touched this last year, but it is still relevant; comet mining! Why do we not have this?! Ok, maybe this isnGÇÖt a GÇ£little thingGÇ¥ ... But I just didnGÇÖt want to leave this out.
- Industrial Teams: ItGÇÖs been awhile since we heard anything about the teams and if/when they are coming back. It was a good concept and think it should be revisited.
- Blueprint Invention: Bringing back the invention section on blueprint information without having to go to the copy tab and then click invention. Would make it very much easier and user friendly.

***Accessability***
This is a topic that is also close to me. We have players from all walks of life in this community, including those who play with disabilities and having more options open for accessibility. This is something that has really had no representation on within the CSM to give a voice to this part of the community.
Myself, I am hard of hearing, deaf on my right ear, and loss in my left ear, I also have a few friends who play that are deaf and as well as and they have expressed frustrations when it comes to this portion and the fact that the majority of corps and alliances rely on voice communication, especially when it comes to fleet ops - ofting taking extra time to get orders, or in some cases, just completely. While CCP canGÇÖt exactly do anything about that, there are options to add extra accessibility within the fleet window interface for example, and better options for fleet broadcasts. I wrote a blog post last year about this as well that I am going to go ahead and place here since this hasn't changed.
Being Deaf/HoH in Eve Onine wrote:So this post comes to light from my recent interview with Cap Stable. After it went live and saw some of the comments regarding it, I canGÇÖt help to think of another topic that is pretty heavy with me; disabilities, namely in this blog, Deaf and Hard of Hearing players.
Now for this interview, I was paired with someone who had a very strong accent. I am hard of hearing; I have no hearing in my right side, and my hearing in my better ear is so-so GÇô so I have a bit of loss, and with the pair to someone with that strong accent, makes it more difficult than someone with normal hearing.
What was also discouraging was that the one recording, who had no accent and whom I could understand fine, never stepped in when he heard me having trouble understanding to clarify questions. DonGÇÖt get me wrong, the guys there are cool, and I appreciate what they are doing for the community, but it could have been better thatGÇÖs all that I want to say in that regards.
This is something that also affects in-game, and what I mean is the constant requirements for VoIP. I have seen people get kicked from fleets because they couldnGÇÖt come on comms, which I canGÇÖt say much on that since that does happen, even in other games other than Eve. If you canGÇÖt hear, how is being on voice coms going to help you? If you canGÇÖt understand the FC in a fleet because of their accent what do you do? In Eve, you turn to rely on broadcasts and relays (relays are good, but can be time consuming and result in you not being able to act quick enough on commands).
I know also in-game several other deaf people whom I consider all friends of mine and I understand their frustrations when it comes to this. DonGÇÖt get me wrong, I think voice coms are very useful vs. typing everything, and I do appreciate the FCGÇÖs and fleet members who do take the time to relay messages. Now I know you canGÇÖt change people who simply donGÇÖt care and have the GÇ£fleet comms or get kickedGÇ¥ mindset.
But there are certain things in this regards that I would like to see to make it easier for those who rely on fleet broadcasts. Fleet broadcasts are great, and helps a bit when the FC also key-bind the broadcast commands. However, the UI for the fleet broadcasts isnGÇÖt the best.
What I would like to see is simple things added for broadcasts; yes simple things. I know right there is a lot of options for the broadcasts and you can filter out certain events from the history; however, most time, I donGÇÖt want to filter out things, I want to be able to keep track of everything going on. For instance look at this:
You may have to click on it to get better quality, however this shows the current options for the broadcast settings. You can set colors and whatnot, but sometimes this history window can populate fast so it makes it hard to keep up with at times.
So my thought is this GǪ add broadcast history GÇ£tabsGÇ¥ GÇô and IGÇÖm thinking of what we have for the current overview. You can set up tabs to show what you want for that tab. So I could basically say set up a tab that shows navigation broadcasts, a tab that shows target broadcasts, and a tab that shows logi broadcasts (ie, shield, cap, armor).
Something like this, simple and makes the broadcast history more efficient and friendly for those who canGÇÖt join in voice comms and rely on the broadcasts. This also saves times vs. having someone type relay commands so that you donGÇÖt miss them. It also makes it much easier to keep track of for being able to those tabs you can switch between. This is just one of the simple things that I feel that would accommodate those with hearing disabilities to be able to keep up, and itGÇÖs simple. I am sure I am not alone in wanting more options for fleets on this, but it is another topic that I have thought about.
So in end for this blog post: Good FC that uses broadcasts/broadcast key-binds + Tabbed history option = a happy capsuleer
On a related note to accessibility, I have also been expressed by a couple of other friends of mine about the new issues with the newer interface, importantly the transparency that you automatically have enabled at the start. So in this regards, I would like to see transparency gone but leave it as a option to turn on if a player wants to enable it on their own. That would help this very much.
***Conclusion / Closing Notes***
With all that, I do want to thank you for taking the time to look at my campaign thread and I hope that I have your support in voting for me in the upcoming elections for CSM XI. I am of course open for questions so you may reply with any questions or comments.
Thank you again, Erika Mizune (aka: Yumene Matsuri)

I really wanted to like Erika last year, because I think the CSM could use a voice representing null sec industrialists. Unfortunately, I think she got into the CSM X campaign a little late and really didn't get a chance to create and present a polished message. Hopefully with her early start for the CSM XI election, she'll be able to have a better showing by the time most players start paying attention to the campaign sometime in January or February.

Thank you for the support <3 I agree that I was a little bit late during the last election, and I wished that I had put up my campaign thread earlier. So I decided to make sure to get out there much sooner this time around. It's still early, but I don't think there's a case of it ever being "too" early
Being early never hurt.

As an industrial candidate you're going to get a lot of loud voices in your corner that essentially want to make mining "safer" for them. How do you balance gaining the support of the people you want to represent vs avoiding the trap of wanting to make Eve too safe? Or do you feel that the "safety first" industrialists are a mostly small but vocal minority you can afford to ignore?

Like everything in Eve, there should always be risks. What I'd like to see if more options for industrial ships for instance because of how vulnerable they are with not really being able to have real way to fight back.
So one of my thoughts is this: Taking the Skif/Procurer for instance. The ships that is made to withstand damage and take a beating, have an extra high slot to be able to fit something that would allow it to 'fight back' in a sense. You would not be able to fit another mining laser on this slot. It wouldn't be something that would be on the ship, so you would have to choose basically make the choose between that extra high slot, or use another mining ship for more yield/ore hold. So in this example; you can basically fit a cap drainer for instance.
So I don't feel that this would be something that would made Eve make 'safer' in the sense you're referring to (taking out risks involved); in my example; it's more to give more options. I bring up mining ships in this example because well; they are easy targets.
I think it is finding that right balance, but I don't think that it should be no risks involved. Risks is one of the things that make Eve what it is.
So... adding more options is what I would like to see. Hope that answers your question

Well I think drones already fulfill that role. Mining ships aren't suppose to be able to really fight back to any serious degree...or else they'd just be combat ships. A few of the mining ships can also become extremely tanky and can be fit to even solo frigates and destroyers. In fact since some mining ships are as tanky as they are, you generally need to attack with several ships before the enemy forms up a reactionary fleet and kills you.
Right now you haven't really given a fulfilling answer. ~Something~ should be done according to you but you aren't giving me any sort of scale. Should mining ships be able to fight off a pirate cruiser? If not a turret, then should it be a missile system? What would you see as fair?

No, they shouldn't be able to fight off a pirate cruiser, unless some reason the pilot flying it just fails Maybe 'fight back' isn't the right term to use here. Maybe a counter would be the better term (can't find the right term I'm looking for) - anyways, that extra slot would not be a turret, launcher or anything like that, it'd just be a generic high slot to use. It also would not be used on all the mining ships; I think that would be too much there, it's why I only mentioned Skiff's and Procurer's.

As for a Cyno counter? Erm, I didn't really consider a cyno, I was looking at other modules that could be put there. Like a normal cloak, cap neut, a drone augmenter, and so on. There's a lot of options what that slot can be used for.
And yea as I said before about the BPO, I can always be bribed ~_^

Erika has been active with Broadcast 4 Reps since... well, since before I can actually recall. A truly sweet and kind player, through our interaction in the different B4R channels she has also shown that she is passionate about the game and knowledgeable about a many different mechanics.
In regards to B4R, she is a moderator in all the channels we manage: the IG channels, Slack and Discord. She always shows respect and a selfless attitude to those that reach out to the channel. When less serious things are going on and it's general BSing, she's humorous and communicates very well: two traits I would believe to be imperative to dialogue with Devs ;)
Regarding knowledge of the game, Erika appears to have intimate knowledge of most mechanics I can think of. I'm also a huge supporter of her comment regarding the POS "little things" (**** me, how many times have I unanchored a damn silo cause i'm mashing buttons too fast...). AND OMG, I DIDN'T REALIZE HOW BADLY I WANTED INDY NOTIFICATIONS UNTIL NOW.
Although I focus most of my time talking PvP as a leader in Brave, I secretly am a big fluffy carebear that still enjoys mining, manufacturing, and import/export markets on all my accounts. Industry is the backbone of this game and I'd love to see it get some tailored love. With all the new changes being planned with EVE, it would be nice to have someone who will be looking at upcoming Dev plans whilst keeping the industry-minded folk's gameplay and experience in mind.
So yes, I am endorsing Erika Mizune for CSM XI (one of only two I've officially backed so far). Good luck, Erika!

Thank so so much Coffee <3 That means a lot to me -hugs- I know you know, but I will post here how proud I am to be a part of B4R because it is just such a great asset for the community and it shows again how much this community will do for each other.
~ We may be enemies on the battlefield of space, but when it's time to get serious, we stick up for each other and do what we can to help each other out.
Also I have almost unanchored pos's several times since I help manage our corp pos's and I can't say how annoying it was each time. Now I find myself triple checking myself just in case. It really is a simple thing to fix and save frustrations. Indy needs love <3

The way they were implemented IMO was poor, but the concept of it was good; having teams to help with indy projects/research.
What I'd like to see is having teams effect the corp level. Corp members with the right access permissions can use corp blueprints that people can see - and if the teams are brought on a corp member level (not using NPC's), it would give corps another way to work together. Helping in a team would also take one of your slots as well, so there's that drawback as their should be.
Based on your skills is how you can determine what is the best area to help in (be it manufacturing, research, copy, ect, and also the types of items)

Hi
Could you ask for an downstack option for items in your inventory. Have a stack of items broken down to smaller stacks of a requested quanity?
Just right click on a stack of items and have a downstack option with a place to request quantities of each downstack? Say you have a stack of 20,000 missiles click on it then enter the stack quantity you want. 2,000 , 4,000 , 200 or what ever you need ? And perhaps an option for how many stacks or the whole stack that you currently have selected?

I would love to have this, so yes I would def ask about this!
I know I would love to see, in addition to down-sizing a stack:
1: Adding a 'split stack' on the right click menu. The current way of shift and dragging away is a bit annoying imo, plus the pop-up you get saying 'there isn't any room left' is kind of silly since you are just splitting the stack not moving it to another location. This functionality is there since it's in the contract system, so should be easy to make it a general to stacks of items.
2: The right click on contracts to 'split stack' should be re-worked where the checked off goes to the stack amount you split to, rather than the original stack.
Would def love this! Thanks for bringing it up!

What I see as the problem with your proposed example changes is that this would disengage the miners from the safety in numbers idea. Yes a single procurer or skiff is a difficult but definitely a killable target. Now the prospect of killing 2+ Procurers or Skiffs with Orca support is a much more difficult idea.
How would you propose balancing this as giving the skiff (as in your example) an extra highslot would introduce these ships into a more PvP role which they already are able to entertain but not able to fulfill because of the limiting fitting slots. |

It's a utility slot, no guns, missles, or the like. I see it as just giving it more options (I think I like that word too much, but it's true) - mining in numbers is always going to be safer, I don't think that's going to change that in my opinion. It's not a PvP ship, and I don't think it should be able to fufill a proper PvP role, so there would, yes, need to be re-balancing - perhaps a drawback on specific mods or dropping a mid slot (tho I think the mid-slot hit would also be a bit much)
Note: I'm typing this on over 24hrs since I last slept, so i hope what I typed made sense.
