We now have 4 remaps and 400k of SP's for every greenhorns. And this is awsome. Is this just a level of care that CCP shows in regard of new comers or we are in preparation of atributes removal?
No more stupid Memory, Willpower, Perception, Intelligence and the only loved by me Charisma?
Look further, think wider...
p.s. ISD please move to General Discussion made a mistake posting here. |

I'd say they did this instead of attribute removal.

It had nothing to do with attributes or attribute removal and everything to do with the change in new-player starting skills. Since the skills were updated, everyone who was less than two weeks old was given a chunk of free SP to make up for the fact that they started "too early" to get the skills for free.
Edit :: Nevermind me, I misread. I thought OP was talking about the SP that was going to be coming in to make up for the people who started in the last few weeks. Please pay me no mind.

I think they're starting to see that the old "hurry up and wait" mentality doesn't apply well when you first start. One your hooked or you found your niche, it's a lot easier to justify wait times and a need for patience. However, when you've just started and don't even know your own opinion of the game, making a wait or grind necessary for the bottom end is a bit less attractive. |

Not sure what they're currently thinking on attribute removal, but it's been discussed in threads that were quite long, and I believe there was a strong opposition from the player base; removing attributes would affect implants and quite a few people want implants to remain unchanged.
I think this was specifically for the New Player Experience (NPE). Every now and then CCP changes something, from the number of points that newbies start with, to the skills they get at character creation, to whether they start in space or in station, to the number of attribute remaps, body resculpts, etc.
I think the majority of the playerbase agrees that more newbies would be good for the game, and making their lives easier and the game more easily understood aren't bad things. |

While attributes are something that CCP would eventually like to remove from the game, I don't think it will be coming anytime soon. There's simply too many interconnected systems for it to be a rapid development item. As above a change to something so intertwined with the skill system and implants is going to meet some resistance.
The NPE is constantly being tweaked with CCP experimenting with different stuff in the hope of retaining new players and making life generally a little bit easier on newbies. The opportunities system is an example of this, although we still point new players at the tutorial agents, as are the extension of the free trial to 30 days from 14 and default overviews etc.
The NPE will continue to be tweaked until CCP finds a successful formula or gives up because it's probably the nature of the game that puts a lot of people off, which isn't a bad thing tbh, and not the NPE.
Either way it's still better than the NPE when I started which was "here's a ship, there's an NPC, try not to die", or as CCP Soundwave put it Quote:Welcome to EVE Online - Here's a rubix cube, go frak yourself

Quote: 5. Trolling is prohibited.
Trolling is a defined as a post that is deliberately designed for the purpose of angering and insulting other players in an attempt to incite retaliation or an emotional response. Posts of this nature are disruptive, often abusive, and do not contribute to the sense of community that CCP promote.
17. Redundant and re-posted threads will be locked.
As a courtesy to other forum users, please search to see if there is a thread already open on the topic you wish to discuss. If so, please place your comments there instead. Multiple threads on the same subject clutter up the forums needlessly, causing good feedback and ideas to be lost. Please keep discussions regarding a topic to a single thread.
