All newbies have been just rewarded with extra 350k of SP's thanks a lot for CCP.
But why we do have 5k of isk upon the start? Is it some kind iof Icelandic joke?
Why not just make it similar to SP and grant 400k of iskies. |

Not sure what the Opportunities system rewards, but the old "Career" agents are still available in the newbie stations, and doing their combined sets of missions gives 10 million ISK in free skills, ships, and actual cash. You can go from station to station and repeat the career missions each time.
Then, when you get tired of that, the Sisters of EVE story arc gives at least another 10 million.
So, 400k ISK, pfft. |

You didn't get the point. Why do we have 5,000 isk at all? Why do new characters need them? Buy one rubish mode? No. To accept missions you don't need to pay. So, what is this tiny ammount of isk for? And why not just make it a lilttle bit higher?

Left over from when they had to pay the CSPA charge of 2950? I don't know.
You asked a question in the newbie Questions and Answers forum.
If your point is that CCP should change this, create a bug report and suggest it, or post in Features and Ideas forum. Or General Discussion. Or, even better, Reddit forums, I hear the devs hang out there more than they do here. |

Probably for the same reason its good for your teenage kids to get an after school job even when you could just hand them the same money without noticing.
You could make 400,000 ISK immediately just by flying one of the "free" career agent ships a few jumps away from the school and selling it. (market hint do not sell those free ships to buy orders at the school itself you will get nothing for them) |

It's there for you to use if you choose to use it, I think it's simple as that personally. Heck with that 5k isk you can technically take it and play with the market with, heh. I made a fresh toon and went strait to the market with that lone 5k and I made my first couple mil in almost no time XD So there's that... Heh. Nothing wrong with a little startup cash :)

I have to admit that you've doing doing well cause you know what to do. But from the newbie perspectives, who haas no knowledge and trading skills, that's hardly achievable on very first steps.
The whole point is, these 5k are obvious legacy from the past and it is time to look and decide to remove them or ... |

would you be happier if all people started the game with 100m SP and 1trillion in the wallet?
Seriously, its CCP's game they will do whatever they want. A select few complaining about it does nothing, and whenever if seen a post of yours its always complaining. |

Please don't overband that stick. I would be happy to start with 5,000 of SP and 5,000 ISK. Thee should some simple explanation other than legacy factor. It's the same if for example every new born got presented 5 cents in hospital. Why? Hmm some old legacy tradition., maybe. |

So please tell us what, as a new player, you'd spend that 500,000 isk on. Personally, I'd spend it on ships I could barely sit in and skillbooks I would get for free later in the tutorial. Also tell us what you'd do with no isk at all, given the state of the beginner tutorials as they are right now. They grant very little isk on completion and some of them do require use of the marketplace. Remember, you're a new player in this situation, not you -- a veteran player complaining in the EVE New Citizens Q&A instead of General where a thread like this actually belongs. |

Relative to a player just starting with no prior experience to this game at all, yes, you are.
So how are you, as a brand new player, to know about this "Venture" and how to fit one to make more than a measly paltry amount of pocket change with that Civilian Miner you have when Miner Is (or whatever they're called cost a couple of thousand ISK that you don't have?
Basically you're one of those people who want all conveniences for new players removed, I see, even the token amount of ISK granted them. I mean, come on, 5,000 ISK? You're complaining about 5,000 ISK?
This game is already struggling a bit as can be seen by declining numbers on TQ and you're here suggesting that we tell new players "Welcome to the game. Now go figure out how to grind ISK before you can learn to do anything fun."

The 5,000 ISK situation does suck, but grinding ISK (gold, credits) is a core task in most MMO's. And you start with 1 copper / 1 credit. In other MMO's you also have to grind XP to level up, don't have to do that here, the skillpoints just happen.
The game has plenty of friendly players in the newbie systems, on the forums here, and in the in-game Help and Corp channels. Also there are plenty of articles on the internet with useful info. Finally, there are player organizations such as EVE University, RvB, and others, that provide volunteer help.
So if you're a normal person and can say "Hello" and ask your questions, you'll make it as a newbie. As mentioned above, Career missions give 10 million, and otherwise the most basic PVE activities (mining, exploration, etc.) reward you at 2+ million PER HOUR. Frigates cost 400k, equipment is in the 50-200k range... it's not horrible. |

Let's put it this way - unfortunatelly you are not able to provide any constructive feedback, other than finger pointing into my face that my logic is broken.
Before you say something it's better to check if you are giving valid information.
There are couple of good sources of info and places in game where newbie could receive proper advices. If you are not aware of them then i feel sorry for you. What was the last time you did check market for mining modules? Have you heard that CCP have done tiericide of them? Meta mining lasers such EP-S and Particle Bore cost less than 4,000 isk and have massive performance boost vs. Civilian miner. Same thing about Venture, it is available at arround 300k of isk.

Ventures are often available for almost nothing at schools from buy orders.
I ended up with 300 of the things at Trossere once because I put in a random buy order for 300 @ 50K each. Gave them to the Angel Project. |

Just one set of tutorials will net you a chunk of ISK, numerous skillbooks and about a dozen ships - including two Ventures, thus providing you with a spare. |

A few of the Career Agent missions are courier-type missions which require a collateral (it isn't large, but it's still a collateral).

Once you've made your choice, join the EvE-Scout channel and request a scout to make sure your connection is clear!

This is a game about making or breaking it on your own merits but in a group environment. It kind of follows the corporatist's entrepreneurial spirit of looking at things.
Nothing in this game is or should be handed to you. Everything that you have or become in this game is because you either earned it on your own or took it from someone who did. So if you are looking for handouts then may I point out that there are plenty of other MMOs out there that are more than willing to accommodate you. This is just not one of them. |
