Hello S&I,
So I've written and re-written this post half a dozen times now, and i'm still not really sure what questions I need to be asking or how I should phrase them, despite having done small amounts of PI and large amounts of reading on the subject in the past. Please bear with me.
Basically, I have 2 accounts. My main account is for my main and two cyno alts, and my second account is for my JF pilot and there are 2 remaining empty character slots.
I live in null and have been looking for ways of making passive isk to complement the ratting that I currently do and the POS reactions I hope to start doing later on down the road. I have been contemplating creating 2 PI characters on my alt account to use them for PI in my system.
The system I live in is -0.5, and the POCO's are at 1% tax. As already mentioned, I have my own JF so logistics is not an issue, though one round trip to and from the nearest trade hub (Amarr) costs about 60 mil in fuel with my current skills (still have lots of training to do...)
1. With the resources I have available, would I be better off extracting materials from the planet and then trying to convert them into P2 or P3 items before bringing them to market, or would it be better to import materials from HS and concentrate on just using factory planets to turn P1 or P2 materials into P3 or P4?
2. Any advice on what I should be making? How much can I expect to profit off of such a setup each month?
3. Any other insight would be appreciated.
Thank you o7 |

I found P3 difficult to sell at, even hubs, markets. P2 and P4 sell very well.
P2 simple enough single planet set-ups, the exceptions Mircofiber shielding, polyaramids, silicate glass that require 2 types of planet.
P4, its actually fairly time consuming to run and at decent rate. Keeping even one P4 factory planet requires alot of refilling storage at very regular intervals.
TLDR; Hands off P2, Transport online, P4 |

How can you run 27 planets with 2 alts?
It really takes some time to fill up a jump freighter with P2 materials. But if you do. the 60 million fuel costs should not be an issue.

Sorry, I was just stating, it would take 27 planets to run 24/7 all P2s. Just a guide. |

Hey guys, thanks for the replies. I still have quite a few questions. I've continued to research but I guess I just need to get out there and give it a try. I was hoping that I could answer all of these questions in detail before fronting the isk and training time to set the planets up, but I suppose that these are also difficult questions to answer with a lot of variables involved.
Whether or not I decide to give PI a shot, or use those two accounts for something else, I appreciate your time. Thanks again o7 |

it's worth it if you have decent extraction planets to harvest, which is sounds like you do.
The P2 PI produced POS Fuelblock Inputs are A Good Thing To Make(tm). Don't go overboard and try to produce them all, just pick one or two and make those.
FYI an Epithal full of Enriched Uranium runs something north of 300m ISK, don't stress the fuel bill on a jump freighter load of the stuff.
As for training, get Command Center Upgrades IV/Interplanetary Consolidation IV for your extraction pilots, Command Center Upgrades V is very handy for factory planets.
