Looking at you big spenders. Is there a major difference from a good ole 1080p 1920x1080 monitor compared to a 4k or 1440 as far as eve goes. Will it make the universe drastically more beautiful? I use a standard 1080p and was thinking of a triple monitor setup, currently I use http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824160168 and planned on grabbing a couple more on cyber Monday. But after reading some of the reviews on this puppy http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824106002 I'm now at a crossroad of a single monitor vs the triple setup. This is strictly for visuals, yes I don't mind the black bars on a triple setup and I plan to use the triple for visual aspect (Yes I know the obvious answer when it comes to flying multiple accounts). Thanks in advance friends I'm not too tech savvy when it comes to these things, cheers o/ |

Apparently the new icons look better scaled to 90% on a 4k monitor than on a 1080, Though I have two 1080 monitors and use that scaling option and it's fine imo.
Better the Devil you know.

I run Eve on an Asus ProArt 4k monitor, and it does look very pretty. I started noticing all sorts of little details on the ships i didn't know were there. The screen real estate is awesome, plenty of space for all sorts of window arrangement, but 32 inch at 4k means i tend to have to move lots of stuff into the middle |

I personally prefer IPS monitors with a 16:10 ratio. I can't stand theatre wide-screen 16:9 monitors.
I also like wide-gamut CCFL back-lighting, though LED is becoming more predominant.
Be very aware that many low-end 4k televisions are not suitable for monitors, as they can only do 30 FPS at 4k. |

Yea im pretty sure im gonna lean towards the single monitor setup, I got a cintiq that I use for art stuff as a second monitor for web and scouts, Considering I hate multitasking the three screen setup looks fun but if the 4k monitors/34" monitors are that much better as far as picture quality then what the heck why not. So far these are the two setups im looking at.

Do you play any FPS or competitive games like LoL or CSGO? I would love a 4k monitor but I'm not willing to sacrifice my 144hz |

I do play LoL and am looking forward to Overwatch. But I usually lean towards the beauty of a game and plan to do some serious upgrades in the coming months. |

I have this, picked it up on amazon for 50 notes more than the asus 144 panel, since that will be obsolete soon with their IPS replacement. Its primarily a work monitor gaming secondary so the RGB colour calibration was important.
TBH 144 on 4k is academic atm, even if you could get a panel up to that refresh rate. Ironically i started pkaying EVE again because my GTX680 does about 12fps in Arma 3 at 4K maxed, the monitor is capped at 60 fps whic was plenty for me as i was used to playing on Ps3, and prefer smexy visuals to max hertz. In any case to hit 60 fps at 4k (with no AA which 4k doesnt need) you neec two titan X running in Sli for most AAA titles, even with 3 x Titan X sli and a 5960x you won't get better than 100fps and if you turn it down the frame rate causes huge tearing requiring you to v-sync it.
TBH if your primary use is gaming, i would hold off until Asus release the next gen gaming panels, they are bringing a IPS and 4k gaming panel out with g-sync and next years nVIDIa cards are likely to be a big step up over the Titan X, but even then i think we are a while off seeing 144 at 4K, it really does torture your system (its basically running 4 x 1080 panels) - I'm having to go the full custom watercooled loop on my rig just to keep temperatures under control, when i switched to 4k my cpu avg went up 10c and my 680 coil whines more than a ganked carebear just moving the pointer across the screen.
That said, i'd never go back from 4k. BF4 just looks soooo pretty and you start noticing all these little details. In terms of eye candy it rocks, but takes a huge chunk of horsepower to run and then cooling becomes a real problem because your gpu's end up running balls to the wall.
For everyday use and gaming 2560 is more practical.
And one side issue: your windows text is TINY at 4k, and if you set extra large text in windows it seems to break most games UI (eve and Arma it did). |

Have 2560x1080 34" ultra wide it is awesome you get more screen space than normal 1080 but Increase on your rigGPU is minimal.
Wouldn't mind 4k ultra wide but pricing atm is just horible for any decent size monitor (34 and up). |

I'd get a 4k 6" monitor and invest in a good pair of high magnification reading glasses.
But...maybe that's just me.

Yea good info, maybe ill just grab a couple more of my current monitors then and wait for something juicy to come along.
