Remember these poor souls could have saved ther ship if only they had spent 10m on a permit prior. I guess 10m < 18b?

Nope. The reason escapes me.
So while I would love to be a pirate yarring it up in low or null, everytime I go there I never see fat freighers/haulers trying to take a shortcut, etc.
All I see are blobs of interceptors/T3 cruisers......and empty systems. I am happy that you see this as well. And I agree that this is a real problem. Yet, this is no reason why people should stay in High sec and move all the PVP there or even make High sec less and less secure so that these blobbing noobs can get their PVP fix that they removed from their Null sec or Low sec farming homes. I stand by my point that High sec needs to be made more boring in terms of PVP so that people see the need to move PVP into Low sec and populate the area more so that new alliances have a chance to emerge to oppose the blobbing noobs there.

Nerfing PVP in hisec (again) will not cause any of the bears to go to low or null. It also will not cause people who got bored with low or null to go back any time soon. Also, since all the fat treasure ships are in hi, guess where the pirates (such as we are) going to hang out?
Not in anybody's empty null/low systems, No money in it.
This has been proven time and time again.
Hisec now is much much 'safer' then hisec 5 years ago.
Guess what?
Still just as many bears in hi as ever, if not more. Even worse most of those bears are alts for supposed l337 null pilots.
Also, most of the blobs I see in low/null are hardly noobs...unless you count CFC/SOLAR, etc as 'noobs'.
At least CCP did one thing right and stopped the 'infinite range hotdrop'......
Buffing starter toons helped too.
Everything in EVE is a trap.
And if it isn't, it's your job to make it a trap...:)

Mike Adoulin wrote:Not in anybody's empty null/low systems, No money in it. No money in Null is a blatant lie. At 80-90M/hour (my unboosted, solo anom hunt, with boosts, more aggressive tools or even AFKtars, you can make more/equal amounts with less effort) with no effort, no warping to stations, talking to agents, warping between excruciatingly long warps between incursion sites or waiting for incursion fleets, no interruptions, few neuts flying around, Null sec makes me more money than High sec missioning ever has. It is not even risky, and I say that as a resident of Querious, which loads of neutrals and reds in surrounding regions. There is also more than enough people flying around blingy ships (Smartbomb ratters, for instance) in Null sec or L5 carriers in Low sec, that people can engage and should engage. But as no one is there and people rather PVP in High sec, they can do whatever they want.
It is also not idiocy that PVP in high sec is too interesting just because people are "bored of it in Null and Low" is the completely wrong approach. Instead of "coercing" people to go back to High sec from their Null/Low "homes", the other way around should be encouraged. But this requires a change in player attitude, and there lies the root of the problem. Many players do not want action/conflict in their Null sec space, people want their Null sec to be safe/secure to rat afk or conflict around without consequences in other areas of space. That is flawed logic and should be rectified.
Furthermore, I do not say that bearing in High sec should/would stay the same. For me personally, CCP could scrap Incursions completely, they are useless from a lore point of view after the years, useless in Low/Null for ISK making as next to no one flies them because :effort: and in High sec, they make people leave Null sec to make money with even less effort than AFKtars. Just as an example.

I see real value in spending 10m to save your 18b in cargo.
Congrats on the kills! 18b freighter must have been awesome.
While I absolutely agree a mining permit would be worth every penny, I'm all towards supporting the creation of content (despite my passive nature). So I figure not having one create contents for CODE agents, and creates content for me. God knows I need some excitement in my EVE life. |

I work rotating shift work and have a family so my off days are spent with them with some game time squeezed in. The longest I ever really play in any one sitting is 4 hours and I don't view that as excessive or strange.
The reason I have multiple accounts be actually because of my time constraints and akward schedule. I have a lot of accounts, but I know plenty of people with more.

You know, my wife often makes comments on the amount of time I spend on the computer. I always tell her I could be "that guy" that spends most of his spare time at the bar, getting sloshed.
Dont get me wrong, I think a good balance between your hobby and your family time is healthy, just not when "family time" means sitting on the couch watching Dr. Phil while wife plays on facebook.

The only reason people PVP in hisec is because they want to shoot things that dont shoot back.
And here I thought it was because of bubbles, ceptors, bombers, and supercaps. Hisec is the hardest area to conduct combat in, due to the restrictions. Low and null are easy mode in comparison. Any moron like you can be an F1 monkey. Getting a blinged out mission bear in a Golem to aggress your assault frigate actually takes skill.
The only difficult part about highsec PvP is getting the fight, and with the ample supply of idiots all that requires is some patience - and being able to multibox a few alts to support yourself with things like on demand locator agents, specialized scanners and logi/OGB/DPS support greatly enhances your range of options.
Once the fight is on, it's over 99% of the time because the thing you are fighting will likely have zero PvP experience and knowledge of game mechanics. I've done some baiting in highsec with just one character; that's remotely challenging. With logi and OGB it becomes a joke.
Alot of this "emergent gameplay" seems to be some guy and his 15 alts playing games with the clueless gimps of the game. The House of Cohenberg seems to grow larger with each passing day. It is mostly easy, lazy PvP that exploits the growing trend of buy alts > win EVE.
I actually do believe this group of players provides a lot of entertainment for people like me who aren't highsec industrialists and thus aren't really bothered by them on a day to day basis. But the tears that come every time CCP patches some ridiculous exploit and forces the "elite" highsec pvp crowd to eat some risk with their rewards, are simply irresistible.
In before Kaarous shows up with some dribble about Ultima and Trammel that no one understands.
And cheers to Yaken and Loyal for whelping those rattlesnakes in lowsec. Please come back, and please upgrade to A types. |

Instalocking gate camps are trash, but once you learn to dodge those/which systems are permacamped, low and null are pretty cool. Lowsec is probably the best area of the game right now content wise.
I think there is a larger fundamental issue with people's willingness to put at risk fat targets like industrials and PvE fits and even expensive combat ships when ultimately you cannot defend yourself, even with friends, if you can't out-escalate the enemy. The reason you don't see freighters taking gates is because they would die instantly and if you had an escort fleet that would die also unless you can win the inevitable escalation contest against the biggest local super blob.
