The increase of starter SP in vanguard is realy good. Now don't stop halfway. Increase starter SP up to 950k in the next release. Than up to 1.5M the release after. That should be the target. All toons below that, should get free SP up to that level.
Unfair for older toons? Yes, but here is the treat for you: For all subscribed before vanguard: Add a forth character slot (available for aurum sometime next year, or even better: All three slots above 50M SP? Well, here is a new slot for you.)
For all toons that have 50M SP: Add a veteran multiship skin Add a veteran capsule model (market seeded sometime next year)
For all toons that have 100M SP: Gold color option for chats, and local Add a first generation, veteran multiship skin Add a first generation, capsule model (not transferable)
What do you think? Too much? Way too much? Too little? |

CCP has already stated that they are strongly thinking about giving new players 1-2 million SP to start with. |

I think this is great. Now let's all demand to hand out drivers licences, motorcycle licences and fightjet pilot licences for a new born children in 2016.
Then we can watch our offspring fly airplanes at age 1. What could go wrong?

Would it not be sensible wait and see how the Vanguard changes to new player SP work out before campaigning for yet another change.
Especially considering Vanguard was only rolled out only a short time ago.

problem i see with giving them out as packets in the NPE is it will be there introduction into the game and if you start giving out SP that way they will come to expect it in the rest of the game
but i agree we don't need anything extra just because we found the game first

Can we at least use the current system for a bit before we start debating for more? Maybe we will find an actual flaw in the newly attributed template of skills but for now, I think we really should just see how the current setup works. |

But however they do it, I think new players should have any future SP in a pool of unallocated. With guidelines on how to apply them.
Maybe even a way of moving them around for a week, to try out different things with their current skill set. Although that is fraught with issues as well.

putting the core skills (the ones found in the core skill certificate) to V may be a better idea that way players don't have to spend the first 2 months training what are more or less mandatory skills and can instead train ship/module skills so it feels more like they are progressing

I have a feeling they wouldn't, but one never knows.

So your saying a new player requires: Capacitor Managment Capacitor systems Operation CPU Management Power Grid Management Weapons Upgrades Advanced Weapons Upgrades Hull Upgrades Mechanics Shield Operation Shield Management Shield Compensation Shield Upgrades Tactical Shield Manipulation EM/Explosive/Kinetic/Thermal Compensation (shield and armor: ie 8 skills) jurryrigging SpaceShip Command Navigation Warp Drive Operation Drones Drone Avionics Gunnery Missile launcher operation
all those to level 5......interesting proposal.....but i have to say...........
No! and then ask..., Are you crazy? and no im not following your idea of "core certificate" Beaue the old certificates were much more detailed in what was considered "core skills"....too bad to omany found it supposedly confusing instead of buying a new brain to think with....

I can agree with 1-2 kk SP for new player if SP will rise the differences between the nations and their skills. For example Galente will have more SP in gallente ships drones and armor skills. Otherwise this is bad idea for my taste.
Alternatively I suggest to change game mechanics to make new players more usefull in all aspects of the game: For example remove light drones from the game, so newbies will have the role of antifrigate force in any fleets. Or nerf web prifiled ships, then fleets wiil be forced to use some frigates for webbing. Rebalance production requirements so new players can spend less time in traing to produce "perfect" basic items.
Also it may be usefull to remove all t2 and pirate hulls from FW plexes besides large one. |
