On his 74th birthday, an old man received a gift certificate from his wife... The certificate paid for a visit to a medicine man living on a nearby reservation who was rumored to have a wonderful cure for erectile dysfunction. After being persuaded to go, he drove to the reservation, handed his ticket to the medicine man and wondered what he was in for. The old man handed a potion to him, and with a grip on his shoulder, warned, "This is a powerful medicine. You take only a teaspoon and then say '1-2-3'." When you do, you will become more manly than you have ever been in your life and you can perform as long as you want." The man was encouraged. As he walked away, he turned and asked, "How do I stop the medicine from working?" "Your partner must say '1-2-3-4,'" the medicine man responded, "but when she does, the medicine will not work again until the next full moon." The man was very eager to see if it worked so he went home, showered, shaved, took a spoonful of the medicine and then invited his wife to join him in the bedroom. When she came in, he quickly took off his clothes and said, "1-2-3!" Immediately, he was the manliest of men. His wife was excited and began throwing off her clothes as she asked "What was the 1-2-3 for?" And that, boys and girls, is why we should never end our sentences with a preposition, because we could end up with a dangling participle.

Hello LAGL.
Hope everyone is doing good.
Not sure if I mentioned this and if I did, please forgive and indulge me.
I completed my goal of clearing out loot from stations throughout the Eve cluster. Man that was one hell of a job and I hope to never do such a large scale task like that ever again. Granted I still have some items left sitting in stations but for the most part that task is done.
After all was said and done, I only ended up with maybe 1/5th of the Minerals required to build the parts required to build the Bowhead.
So I had to do something I didn't want to do, I redeemed my 2x PLEX that I had reserved in case my sub ran out and sold them in Jita. I then went to Rens and bought the rest of the Minerals needed to build this beast of a ship.
After adding up all expenses - BPC package, Materials and Production cost, the total amount spent is 1,078,000,000 ISK (1bill 78mill). The average price on Market for the ship already built is 1,500,000,000 ISK (1bill 500mill). I saved 422,000,000 ISK (422mill).
All parts have already been produced and the ship is currently being manufactured right now. It's been on the assembly line for 4 days and in another 7 days the ship will be operational.
Then comes the daunting task of ship fitting. Since this will be carrying my Exploration ships, the Bowhead Transport needs to have a very good tank. The planned routes it will travel is High Sec systems so it needs to stand up to suicide gank attempts yet still afford some maneuverability.
I've done a bit of research and most ship fits for it are Hull tanks. I did some EFT and came up with this fit, let me know if you think it'll work for High Sec transport.

I see hull tanked, faction fitted Bowhead harpooned with Stealth Bombers by CODE and Goonswarm in Niarja. Dropped 22B worth of skill injectors.
But there are also those without cargo ganked.

Bowhead is a bit too juicy target, with all that bay capacity, I'd rather use Orca.
But about those fits, don't see the point using inertia modules with MWD trick ?

I use Orca with MWD and can warp faster from gate to gate switching it on and off when initiating warp to the gate.
Its hull tanked, and doesnt haul much.
And I would not put my priciest things there.

Same here. I could see myself using it as a transporter for couple exploring ships but nothing pricy.

So you're all saying use an Orca and not a Bowhead ?
I would think an Orca be more of a gank target. Also an Orca doesn't have as large of a Fleet Hangar as a Bowhead.
I'm confused now.

The ship price alone makes it a red flag for gangers, not to mention what it can hold in cargo. If you really need that much space, then it's another matter, but I'd be too nervous to travel around with that much stuff. Orca can have decent hull tank also, better worth for the money IMO.

As I see it, Orca loss is easier to stand for me. I see Orca's ganked everywhere too. I can afford the second one. Just the old saying: dont fly what you cant afford to lose.

This is a Tech 2 Hull tank fit, it has 100k more Effective Hit Points and the align to warp time is almost double that of the Faction fit I posted. DMC I see you didn't update EFT in a while. :) |
