Hey folks I just recently resubbed after 2.5yrs away and want to sink my teeth into some cash generating work. Only 8mil SP but all in fighting really. Not much wanting to go into PvP right now.
Atm wanting to do PvE missions but scared I get killed, Im on frigate atm all my BC and cruiser are all away somewhere I cant access so could spec out a new ship.
And really want to try FW but also quite scared to jump in.
Anyone could give me any advice on what i should do? |

Don't be scared, would be my advice.
Faction warfare is great to get into straight away, even if you just join the NPC militia corps. Lots of T1 frigate fights so you get used to being killed quickly, and learn fast. The militia chat will rapidly show you which player corps are active, capable, and your kind of people so you can choose which to join.
It's possible to make decent isk too, if you mix in a bit of plexing (capturing or defending complexes in the warzone).
If it's something you think you'd really like, jump in right away. Otherwise it's easy to get paralysed by anxiety about losing pixels - FW cures that quickly, because you are not going to fly expensive ships for a long time, and still have a decent chance of winning fights there.
Humanity has won its battle. Liberty now has a country.

I saw a video once that showed how to make decent isk on a less than 24 hour old character doing FW.
The video pretty showed you how to avoid fighting and just make isk so I'm not saying that it is fun or that you should do it. I'm just pointing out that you can make isk doing it.
Also this is a game so fun is why we are here. You should not be scared to try stuff in this game just do what ever is fun. If you like PvP then give FW a try. If you don't like it the only thing that you've really lost is some time spend in front of your computer. |

Don't be afraid to lose ships.
Could you afford to lose a frigate and your implants that are currently plugged in? If so, go and shoot some rats in lowsec belts. 5 or 6 battleship rats or 1 clone soldier will pay for your fitted frigate and so when you do get found and wind up in a fight you'll be the underdog in, you should end up ahead.
The most dangerous part of lowsec is getting into it - I recommend the (very very quiet) system Fasse and accessing it via Ala.
I support the New Order and CODE. alliance. www.minerbumping.com

Ship loss is the most natural thing in EvE, don't fear it.
If you want to see the sights but not do much pew pew (or find pve boring), Exploration may be enjoyable for you. There is ISK out there in the stars you only need reach out and grab it. and then get it to station

I agree, get into exploration - mostly data/relic sites give you enough money to fund your losses + build up capital for the imaginary time you feel ready to get into pew pew full time. Also the minigame is almost something considered fun - who heard of such a thing in eve ?!
Occasionally you get someone chasing you, I believe getting away is the first step to returning and ganking their bum.
