As the topic says I am trying to find out if the contract price of a contract can be amended (either up or down) once the contract has been posted.
I have noticed several instances of where soon after I put up a contract to sell something at say 1,000,000.00 ISK another contract soon appears for exactly the same item at 999,999.99 ISK - with the time left on that contract much less than the one I just put up.
I have searched the forums for an answer & googled this query without success. |

Apologies for not making myself clear.
I am aware that cancelling the contract & re-submitting it at a lower price is the accepted way to vary the contract price.
What I am finding strange in my current situation is the contract put up at slightly lower than my price has an age considerably less than my contract.
For example, I put up two contracts earlier at 1.7B each & when I searched "Available contracts" soon after it showed my contracts there with 13 days 23 hours left on both. An hour later when EveMon advised one had been sold I went back & noticed there was still one of my contracts there at 1.7B with 13 days 22 hours left on it. Lo & behold 2 other contracts for the same item appeared in the search at 1.69B with only 2 days & 21 hours on each.
Since most people put up their contracts with a 14 day expiry, I was wondering if somehow this person has amended an existing contract to better my price. If amendment is not possible, I can only assume that they've put up a short term (3 day expiry contract). |

only other possibility i can think of is:
not using the filters on the contract window properly and only looking at page 1 prices as a result. depending on how you sort a contract window, i always check page 2,3 etc to ensure im correct.
try sort by price (lowest first, then click the column header so it reshuffles) then scan thru all the pages.
which would mean the contract you see with lower time was always there, you just didnt see it until yours was sold.
just leave it up anyway, 14 days it will sell easy. if not relist it, when it expires so u get deposit back. |

Thanks mate
I do sort my price checks by lowest first & usually (not always) check the first few of pages of contracts to see if there's a trend. I find the whole process quite amusing to be honest.
My research to date has not revealed any way of amending an existing contract, so I can only assume that "my opponent" put up a very short term contract at his slightly lower price. No doubt a contract version of 0.01 ISK wars. In the overall scheme of things he's slowed my sale down by a day or two.
I will leave my contract there - I was just intrigued. |

Double check the times, you can list contracts with lower durations than 14 days. Also check the column and drop-down menu sorting, you can use both to give a list that is in a weird order.
The deposit is not refunded unless the contract sells.
