Hi all
I asked the question regarding using third party software to modify my screen to be able to show more than one character. I want to setup overview and modules so that i can control more than one character on the same screen. Currently windowed modes creates a lot of distraction and having asked CCP for an answer, the reply I got just made what I see as a simple yes or no incredibly more vague.
I think I've established that using third party software to control more than one account simultaneously is a ban-able offence. What I don't seem to have a clear answer to is if I can multibox by displaying certain sectors of my characters client on the one screen. I will not be controlling the character simultaneously. |

Isboxer does this and can modify what you see on each client and as long as you dont use the broadcasting portion of it is IS legal.

Imam: That's right.

I have up to 4 characters in windowed mode with no issues, how many are trying to control?
Because for me its easy enough without getting distracted, and i'm old :)
Just go for it and see, btw leave me your stuff before you do |

CCP are eager to make their rules as vague as possible, but from what could be understood it's not advisable to cut out pieces of your screens (like ISBoxer allows) as this apparently gives an advantage and may get you caught up in their obscure checks, but it's OK to use something like eve-o preview which allows you to have thumbnails of whole clients for watching over them and quick switching between them. Best answer is, don't bother multiboxing anyway.

Read this, if it doesn't answer your question file a petition. We don't need anymore threads for Lucas to post his tears in.

Why multibox? There's no need for 3 computers to run 3 instances of the game. I can easily run 3 or more instances on the same computer and just alt-tab between them as needed. |

My advice is to file a support ticket. The forums will most likely not have information regarding this topic.

Hrm... what you say is interesting. Like the ISD said, your best bet is to wait until CCP replies since that is the only official verdict.
From my point of view though, I cannot see how it would be. I will have other software running, but am using a windowed mode. I have my windows arranged in such a way so that while I am clicking between them, critical information is not covered by another window. For eve, I would position them so all ships have overviews or whatever is unique to that character showing, with the window overlap having everything positioned to match up.
Edit: For example, if I needed three clients on a single screen, I would have right edge one overview, left edge another overview, but not all the way to the top. I then have the main screen centered over both so that the visual and hud information is overlapping all the same. Camera offset can help as well. The top/bottom of screen reserved for the last.
Other way can be say have a main character left side, then half height windows with critical info views on a right margin.
Not sure if that idea can help in the short term. When I work with excel, I sometimes require multiple files to be open at the same time. It is very efficient.
