So, getting a new comp this week, and as such pondering on options on what to use the old one for.
One of the options I was thinking of is setting it up with a capture card (or whatever) as an alternative to using FRAPS (losing FPS in the process)
I figure that would also give me recording in better resolution than fraps.
But i know pretty much jack about it, so any advise, recommendations, info etc etc would be appreciated. ---

Well, if your computers graphics card has a TV-Out you can plug a serial cable direct from that into the capture card. However, unless you have a nasa style size hard drive, you will still need to encode it so its small enough for your computer. Even this requires huge amount of space, but doable. Encoding will also cause frame rate loss, just the same as Fraps. Back in the day, video cards > Fraps. But Fraps has come so far now, I would personally just use that. Just as good in my oppinion now.
However, if you have 2 computers, put your TV-Out from your computer into the capture card of the other computer and let that do the encoding causing no frame rate loss.

Second option is what I was planning. Any suggestions on capture cards? ---

Mine was only a cheapy ú20 one. And it sufficed. Try and stay away from USB cards though, alot of them are limited to 320x240 resolution. For doing what your planning on doing, I dont think you need anything fancy. Just something that supports a good resolution. Dont bother spending loads of money on the best card out there, no need.
