What is a good setup for a Chimera (Caldari Carrier)?
A ship that is going to see the front lines of battles but not fleet engagements - small gangs, less than 10 people type things?
I'd be asigning the fighters in groups of 5 to other players and im thinking the high slots would be used for shield transfer arrays.
Now, that said, if a hostile gang of say 5 or 6 battleships came in and made me primary, I could likely tank them for a very long time but with only fighters to rely on I'd need to recall them from the gang members quickly and start doing things myself.
What sort of things go in the mid slots of a carrier? I was thinking a sensor booster or two (or a sensor thingy in the low slots?), invulnerability field II x2 and an EM hardner II.
Also a large or extra large capactor injector with 800 boosters in my cargo hold so that if i need to do an emergency jump or whatever I can do that reasonably quickly.
What sort of things do people put on carriers that will be fired at? --
Yeah, so Caldari suck at close range. Pity you'll never get there.

chimera setup hmmmm
mids should really be microwarpdrive. medium cap injector, web and scram, and probably another microwarpdrive so you can go really fast.
lows probably bcu's so your missiles hit harder

Id replace the 2nd med mwd with a 100mn Ab. The combination of oversized Ab and MWD provides almoast the same speed and much better agility/less cap penalty. -----

Lets see, a carrier with 5/7/4 layout...
Highs: Miner II:s or whatever you want to throw in there, I don't care. Meds: 1* Capital Shield Booster, 1* Shield Boost Amplifier II, 3* omgpwn Invulnerability Fields (I heard Dread Guristas ones are popular), 1* Sensor Booster II for the nice pulsating blue ring effect, 1* Cap Recharger II Lows: 1* Damage Control II, 3* Beta Cap Power Relay Rigs: 3* CCC
Go faction wherever you can.
Should run forever but I have no idea if that's a feasible setup since I'm an Amarr and the only thing I shield tank is my Bestower just for laughs.
