Depends if you're into the chronicles, short stories and other literature, tbh. Personally I think they're a dead interesting bit of EVE law which shouldn't be meddled with lightly. -----------------------------------------------

Well that is too bad, because the Titans already have the I-WIN button with their DD weapons.
There could also be penalties to having a Jovian ship. Such as, as someone just mentioned (sorry forgot your name), having to pay more than the cost of a carrier to get a Jove Battleship.
Even then, you still need to train skills for the shields and/or armor, and their weapons.
There could also be required implants to fly their ships (who says that they dont have them? After all they invented the POD piloting and that requires implants [if you read the short-stories and chronicals]).
The implants could cost a fortune, and when plugged in, they can then give you lets say, a mere 25% chance that it will be successful. By this, I am suggesting that they could try and implement a system to where when you plug-in the Jove implant to fly their ships (admist the training times and costs), that your character will have a 25% chance of success.
If you fail, which is a good possibility, then your character will die from the Jove disease.
This could make getting into fully fitted Jove Battleship with nothing but Jove modules next to impossible, and very risky.
They could also try and implement a system to where your character will die after X-amount of time from the Jove disease no matter what, and you'll have to get a new implant to fly the Jove ships with your clone, as well as get another clone in general.
In the end, it could be nearly impossible but not unreachable to get into a Jove Battleship, and even then it could have heavy expenses.
Throw in suggestions.

A bit of speculation with no grounds in fact:
Part 1 Factions Wars, all the factions start fighting each other.
Part 2 Faction Wars get out of control/did not go as planned and a storyline is needed to stop them.
Part 3 Enter Jove as a powerful NPC faction which the player factions must combine forces in order to avoid extinction.

One thought might be to have the required implants having major drawbacks- eg, you can fly jove ships, but cannot train any new skills while plugged in.
People will still be able to get around it with jump clones, but it'll certainly make someone think twice about spending all day in their super ship. -----------------------------------------------

But it wont be that much of a super ship, since their going to have to train the skills to use the modules, the shields/armor, the guns, etc., if they can afford them, as well as wait the long amount of time for those to train as well.

Actually the few jove ships we saw had fun stats for the devs to have fun with. They could simply add jove as 5th race with balance ships.
There is storyline about the mighty jove but afaik they only spanked the amarr fleet with a mighty beam. Could've been an allmight titan afterall.
If a jove frig is better then any other frig and is somewhat easy to come by the game is over. If it is a lot better but not by THAT much and is rare/hard to get that could work as well.

Some people have problems pressing that button though. Steves last firing of the gun prior to its death only killed 2 enemy ships and 1 friendly ship.

Afaik Jove ships aren't by far pwnmobiles. They have fairly average stats as any other ship class does, they might have more slots and so on.. But after the HP increase which I bet didn't include the Jovian ships - they even might be the underdogs to every other race's ships.
There is this IG website that I can't remember now, but has the stats for faction ships, GM ships, SOCT Cruisers and yes, the Jovian ships. I'd guess the data is pulled from the game's database, so it should be accurate. -------------------

Technically, Society Of Concious Thought is Jovian, just not mainstream Jovian. Sorta like a second Jovian faction
Technically the poster above me is right, Jove ships are in the database right now, and are shabby. But Devs have said thats nothing but a database relic, and if Jovian ships were to ever be used in any way, they'd be completely rehashed first. The only times they are used is when a Dev brings one out to play (like Sharkbait's stress tests) and then they don't have database stats- they're dev tweaked to whatever they like. -----------------------------------------------

they should make jove space to ULTRA hard teritory. as in capital complexes and the belts should have much harder npc as in u need capital ships to even enter. make it posible to jump to jove space IF u have cap ships. this owul dbe good for mothership and such, as that is the only way u can get backup with smaller ships in there.. and would make an idea with cap ships again...
ps. make it posible to jump with freighters, btw. but ofc it should cost ****LOAD to jump with such a heavy ship... as in they use TONS of fuel. i find it funny u cant go thrue gate swith a carier but with freighters u can even thou a freighter in my mind is much bigger and less agile than carier dreads etc....
introduce trains.. transport trains wich u can send from one destination to another without pilot... those trains would ofc be cool targets soooo u might want to defend em ? hehehe so many ideas... hell i wich i worked for ccp making new stuff.
storyline jove space invaded by capital ship swhom found a route into there land. a war start. so we will see atacks from jove into empire. damn... get it going ccp.

yes, i would like to see something out of the jove storyline in my lifetime. It is fiction, not like we can start another 'new mystery' after that.
As far as balance is concerned, the devs can make it balanced, well at least i hope they can its kinda their jobs

Im not sure if that ship is really a Jove ship.
Back in the day I popped lots and lots of those ships as a part of missions, I think the ship was considered the one BS you could fight but it was far too weak to really be a BS, it popped like a cruiser and not a very tough one ither.
The mission that spawned them was however removed when agents was altered to make mission running a much easier task, back in the day you would have to do 100(or so) missions to be refered to one lev 2 agent and he didnt even have to be a high quality one, 100(or so) missions later the lev 2 would refer you to one lev 3 agent, again at random.
The lev 3 agent would once in a while give out the mission to hunt that ship.
It is a nice looking ship, I am however suprised to see it in a station.

This thread is just a few days old. Open your eyes. Moderators, please remove his SPAM post, it has nothing relevant to the discussion at hand.
Now, back to the thread.
I still feel that the Jove disease could be implemented to serve a purpose in the pod pilots of the Jove ships, which of course would have to be nerfed a wee-bit due to their current powerful weapons and such.
I just dont see why they dev's cant work the Jove ships into the game as playable. So many options and possiblities that they can do the ensure that they are not overpowered, and that they are not "pwn-Mobiles"; it will just take a little thought.

As far as I can recall some dev has stated that Jove ships were about the equivilent of tech 5 items, the by accident released jove mining laser (think it was jove, may have been polaris) sure was T5 equivilent.
My hope is that Jove ships will be taken down to about T3 equivilent and released as extremely rare rewards shortly before T3 starts being released in ... 2 years.
As for ships I really want to be able to fly... The Ixion is a ship that I have wanted ever since I first met an Angel Depredetor some 3 years ago.
Since then I have seen the Cynabal become a playable ship (yes I have it) but not the Ixion and thus I keep waiting.

Two weeks is "ancient"? Odd. I thought "ancient" was "ancient." Like...I don't know...Pentium 1s. Besides people keep contributing.
And my thought is: Bring out Jovian ships. But, only make them attainable as really high rewards from agents...especially if CCP can work in a storyline about capturing some Jovian tech and reverse engineering it, or something along those lines. And they WOULD be more powerful, just not as uber-powerful as everyone seems to think they would be. Sure, they wiped the floor with the Amarrians, but they had a giant ship class noone had seen before. The rest of Eve has caught up a bit.

There is one. It's called BOB. I don't get why very few of the players in this game realize that NPCs (at least right now they are), are only secondary parts of the storyline. It's the pod-pilots that move the storyline forward, with their own actions.

Yeah, then we can bring an end to crap looking caldari ship designs and use only good looking ones
Now why would caldari follow the ways of the order anyways? They went to war with gallente because they wanted to do things their own way you know. It is pretty plausible that : Amarr invades Minmatar space in the name of the almighty ninja. Gallente comes to help Minmatar since they babysit Minmatar all the time anyways. Caldari sees an opputunity to strike at gallente and reclaim Caldari prime in the name of the holy $$$, and so there will be two alliances, later on in the war the gallente will turn more from the minmatar and more to the caldari and so there will be a 2 vs. 2 faction warfare, Don't know how it'll end though, probably something about Minmatars winning and Amarr losing and Caldari and Gallente Becomes homies 4 life etc.
