Hello fellow capsuleers!
I have an idea, what in my mind would definitely help us to get more people in the game and also make older players game time content rich.
Shortly: Skills to Experience points.
All the people are able to use whatever fittings or ship types they want, also build stuff and mine or do what ever they want. Now the experience points will come exactly like skill points and all the bonuses with it, just doing your activities.
Example 1. I fly frigate with turrets on it. All that time i fly will be accounted to experience points: "Minmatar frigate" and "Projectile Weapons". More i fly, more i get experience and level up.
2. I like exploration. Doing probe scanning will LVL up my scanning skills and hacking will LVL my science skills.
Only problem I see here is: *Experiencing up* multiple skills while flying and shooting at the same time. But it all can be sorted out with time balance to the current skill training time.
Idea is very simple and will give free hands to every pilot in the game (new and old) to do what they want to do with only limitation how good you are what you doing. I really think that current skill points system limits the usage of all the content in the game and as we all know the content is massive. I also feel that most people I have tried to get into this awesome game are simply leaving cuz of skill restrictions. The game is massive with loads of thing to do only if you willing to wait till your skills are trained to the point where you feel like you can do what you want to do.

That's going to effectively turn EVE into a grind-for-skills-fest unless that bonus is *really* weak.
Really big nono. |

not to mention bot players are rewarded the most and this would definitely make the bot problem far bigger then it is now

IF players get SP for playing using a bot would be the most effective way to boost SPs as it can do exactly what you want for as long as you want exploiting it to the max. it baffles me i have to explain this

i never said you needed to stop playing eve i said if you prefer a leveling system WoW might be more for you.
sandbox means that time is essential and this undermines that directly

Really big nono. not to mention bot players are rewarded the most and this would definitely make the bot problem far bigger then it is now How would play to get experience would boost bot population? You need to play as often as you can. But you cannot play when you are at work or asleep or during vacation. Bots, however, can do that, and thus bots will be used to just sit in a ship to fly around or use a module or do an activity. With the SP system as it is, this is not necessary as you do not need to play to advance your character. You advance even if you do not play or cannot play. More information on how the SP system is superior to your daft suggestion can be found here.

I understand that my idea might need some fixes but we need to make this game more playable and less waiting type of game.
Right now u start to play and realize that u have to wait 5hours + 2days +17hours + 22hours to do something u want to try. And many new players i know are not willing to do that. |

my shortest skills are around 8 days, the waiting for skills is tough specially when you are new or miss some vital skills, but making it a leveling game is worse way worse

All I see in runescape when I log in is bots. Bots mining. Bots doing the smithing minigame. Bots killing giants for big bones. Bots everywhere doing everything. Why? Because players have to grind for countless hours before they can do anything really useful with their skills. I never used a bot, I've been mining off and on for years and I still can't swing a pick at rune.
WoW is the same way. You have to log in and "play" for however long it takes to get to the new level cap, then find some way to get whatever gear your selected character needs to actually be able to not get steamrolled in pvp. My corp does not believe that Eve has a minimum sp threshold to be competetive (though sometimes I fear our leadership does not believe as strongly in the power of the cheapfleet as they should).
Grinding is in many ways, a terrible thing. Eve shouldn't be subjected to it any more than it already is. We still have to grind out ore, missions, ice, etc.
Consider what this proposal would do to players who don't have enough free time in a week to put in a bunch of hours grinding. |
