I'm a bit confused here. Downloaded the game for the first time last week and was thinking about upgrading, but suddenly the game is completely unplayable (latest patch? haven't logged in for a few days).
Basically, the lag makes the interface unusable. Takes ~10 seconds to choose a menu option, etc. I noticed that graphic settings had changed to max, and I went to graphics options and tried to choose a lower resolution, but no lower resolutions are listed. I found the game settings file that set the full screen resolution and I manually changed this and restarted, but despite lowering the apparent resolution, everything was still unusably low. Is there some trick or flag that got unchecked that I need to set? I tried windowed mode and lowering quality, but nothing resolved lag. Currently, I can't play the game at all. I'm on a surface Pro 4, by the way, which has been pretty good with most games and was completely lag free a week ago. |

I would go for the graphic content settings before the resolution, but res should be available in the top left of display & graphics.
Also, I've noticed the new beta map can cause some pretty crippling framerate drops when I have bookmarks turned on. Not sure if that's applicable to you.
Anyway, probably more appropriate for the Issues and Workarounds board.

On a trial account, I'm not permitted to post there.
I did turn down those settings as well, but it seemed to have little if any effect. I guess this is a bug that was recently introduced, but it's completely game breaking for me. Does everyone else still have the options for turning down the resolution? |

Another thing to try maybe is disabling the window blur.
That's found under General Settings on the right side at the top. By default it's checked to enable it. Might help to smooth over your machine?
Last week I had some socket closed issues, there was something pretty wonky with an update. Hopefully it's solved in another patch or two, they make little fixes often.

One more suggestion:
Click the gear wheel icon at top right of launcher, select 'Download' tab and check the 'Download all the resource files' box. |

By default the client downloads new things as needed which may be a partial cause of your slow responses. By checking the box suggested your launcher will download all portions of the client, it may help, it may not but it is worth a try. |

Thanks for all the suggestions. I turned everything to minimum and made the other changes listed, but it's still unplayable. As long as my game is at 2736x1824, I don't think it's going to work. |

have you looked at the surface pro 4? try looking it. would you just look at it. that thing can play eve! I wouldn't try fleet battles or really even pvping with it, but for trading, skill stuff, and missions it is more than adequate. I have a first gen surface pro and it works on that. should work way better on the 4.
As for the issues
First: are you using the beta launcher? I noticed an update to that the other day (the 25th?) that changed the settings path so I lost my settings on all my accounts. Fortunately the old folder should still be there and you should be able to copy/paste your settings folder over.
second, after you launch the game and are at the character select screen hit esc go to the display & graphics tab and start turning settings down. There is an optimize settings button, hitting that and then selecting performance may help.
third: there are a few settings that are more dependent on screen resolution than anything else, making sure those are down is probably very important as the SP4 has a rather high resolution. and are often rather harsh on gfx cards even at 1080, they probably overpower the SP's integrated card. You seem to not be able to change the resolution that could be a big issue.
fourth: try switching to windowed mode or fixed window. I remember having some problems with not being able to change resolution in the past I think that may have been what unstuck it.

I run three accounts simultaneously on a Surface Pro 3 with medium-high graphics. I play all aspects of the game (Incursion, PvP, Exploration, etc.) without lag or any problems. The Surface Pro line is not a tablet, it is a full fledged computer. |

I *think* (but not 100% sure) that resolution options change based on what window mode you have it. (Windowed, Fullscreen, Windows Fullscreen). I do know that multiple monitor span isn't possible if you have it on dedicated Fullscreen mode.
Additionally, in terms of windows lag, etc. I recall hearing there were some database issues that were causing things like the market window to lag when opening, but didn't affect things like overview. I believe they are fixing it on the next major release. I can't remember the source of this, but do recall CCP talking about it.
EDIT: Not to say that you shouldn't be able to change it regardless, just that there were some dependancies based on what setting you have it. I don't see why your system wouldn't have any way to run, even at low. I can run the game on a Venue 8 Pro tablet on minimum settings without much of an issue.
