Personally I always run it since I don't blitz.

Not much of a point running that mission if you're not running the bonus room. Half that mission's worth is in room 6, and as others have stated, blitzing such a mission requires one to bumble through five rooms to kill on guy.
Guristas Extravaganza on the other hand doesn't offer nearly as lopsided distribution of bounty potential and that mission's bonus room can be skipped without much concern.
Edit: Wish CCP would add an EoM Extravaganza...no one would pass that one up.

That's not too hard to do, you just have to know what to do to minimize damage.
Pushing range away from the blob helps keep most of the rat fire down (don't worry about getting transversial, most of the rats can't hit at 60Km anyways), killing the Cruise Missile towers is crucial for lowering immediate damage for players in BS ships, nailing the Angel frigs and elite cruisers removes danger to drones. Marauders can easily sit in place and tank the towers and rats long enough to let your own firepower whittle them down to just the towers, then leave. Other BS' do best to do an about face once they land and kite the blob of rats while pulsing AB and Booster/Repper, maintaining that 60Km window for as long as possible. Again, popping the Cruise towers help since they are the biggest immediate threat (TP's from rats make them hurt quite a bit) at least until the battleships can catch up to you. Swatting the Angel Webifiers relieves tackle pressure, and killing Angel Ruffians removes some of the TP's, leaving the Saint and occasional Nephilim to being the only EWAR nuisance. The elite cruisers and BC's should be your next targets of choice, finally killing the battleships. Saint will always be the second BS wave's trigger, usually five Thrones and Malakims.
Sadly, this is also part of the reason missions get boring after a while; none of them really throw you a curve ball once and awhile. Dread Pirate Scarlet is the closest thing to, in a word, "unpredictable" as missions get.

Unpredictable as you don't know exactly which rats will spawn in each room. You might get serps, you might get guristas, etc. |

Yep. In fact, it's one of the ways I wish CCP would consider re-scripting some, if not all, missions. Okay, rant ahead, so you know...read it if you care to.
I actually hate that less than half of what's told in the briefings given by the agents pretty much let you know what you will face, who you will face, and how much of a challenge (at least relative challenge) you will face, all simply by giving you the name of the mission and nearly always giving you ID of the opponent. Apart from that much intel, nothing else really makes that much of a difference. Variations of spawns hardly make that much of a splash on the mission's make-up, the biggest of which being when EWAR is involved, though even then it's usually a minor inconvenience at its worst. You rarely see more than one OPFOR present on any missions, save for missions like Scarlet and Worlds Collide, which that alone kills a lot of opportunities for missions to surprise you in any given way. This makes missions feel more like a battle reenactment for the same battle than individual isolated operations that should be different somehow each time.
Would love for more missions where the agent says, "We don't know who did it, but somebody hit us/a convey of ours/some of our friends/etc. and we think they're hiding here. Go get them," and that could be any of the major pirate groups, Rogue Drones, or even a rival faction. Hell, throw us a curve ball and have an Empire agent send us against a rogue unit of their own parent faction's armada -- I wouldn't even care if they dropped tags, it would be something different at least. Maybe even script missions together so sometimes, on rare occasions, hitting the mission trigger causes a sort of escalation event nearby that the player has the option to go run, or they can call it a day and head back to their agent for a new assignment. Maybe a spawn shows up earlier than they are suppose to, or at a much different range than they did before, just to shake it up a bit. Get a mission from an agent with the Caldari Navy and seek out your foe, only for a random friendly Navy patrol to happen to stumble into one of the pockets you're in and offer some help (so as not to steel kills, maybe they do reduced damage so you have a better chance at the bounty).
"Smarter" AI, while I will applaud CCP for what I've even seen Drifters and the likes do that is rather interesting, even somewhat spooky, is one thing. But simply giving rats beefed up firepower, crazy tanks, and ship restrictions to force the player to use something other than the L4 norm can only do so much. I don't disagree that the AI could use an update of the sort, it just bugs me that everywhere else in Eve RNG seemingly always has a way of playing a role, yet it's the one thing that is completely absent when mission-based PVE comes to mind. Missions are mostly a rule of, "Once you've learned what to do, you do the exact same thing every time to get the exact same f'ing results every time without so much as one exception."
Okay, rant over, I swear.

Wow completely agree with Sobaan Tali "rant" there. That would be very challenging and very interesting! I pretty much exclusively run security missions and they do get boring after a while. |

It is true that missions are very predictable. Even the "random" good loot drops like the big Zor implant, Scarlets Implant and the silo in the later Angel Room are well known. |

adding random enemies just means 'warp in, see who is there, warp out to refit or drop the depot if you can survive, and do the mission. really doesnt add much. what I would prefer much better is a chance, even if very low, of some great drops, similar to anomalies, but much smaller chance. |

Definitely, if you have the DPS to break the battleships in that pocket; as far as I'm aware, there's still a chance for the loot stash to drop Domination mods... but it's very slim, so you should go in hope rather then expectation. I've only done the bonus room 3 or 4 times, I haven't got anything as yet. |

Or a powerful Guardian Elite Sleeper Class BS boss or two to kill.......along with a random faction loot drop. |

Um no...... It's best to blitz level 3's to get to level 4's ASAP.

Best in terms of isk/hr efficiency and all that? Probably, but then again, I've never been one to pass up chances like the one (supposedly) in AE3. Not until I've been given the bird about 50 times... after that, I'll leave it be. Besides, it's only an extra 10/15 minutes at worst, which is barely anything at all, by and large. |

IMHO the bonus rooms haven't been worth the ammo cost for a few years now.

I used to do the bonus room to test out my tank, but once you know the order you should be killing things in there, it no longer provides a challenge. You don't even have to move away from the encroaching ships, just sit there and snore.
Since the great mission-loot nerf of whatever-year-that-was, it simply isn't worth looting anymore either, unless you have a marauder and can loot on the go.

I get about 60-65 million an hour in assets running this one including the bonus room in a Marauder, so middle of the line.
Thing is, you wont be accepting this mission if you're blitzing anyway so the bonus room is "worth it" in that you will make more ISk per hour by running and salvaging/looting it than not.
