Anyone have any suggestions for a cheap laptop that's capable of running eve on lowest settings? I work away from home quite a bit and would love to be able to play while away, but can't justify a full on gaming machine. I've seen a number of lower priced laptops with ATI graphics in them, but don't know if they are capable of running Eve.
Anyone have any experience or suggestions? |

Hell, pretty sure you can get the hardware on a smartphone to technically run EVE (you just won't have an interface).
EVE runs on just about anything that can still call itself a computer.
Post the specs of what you're thinking about, and in all likelihood if it can run a modern operating system with 2 gigs of memory left, it will probably run EVE.

Any x86 machine should do it.
You will want a proper keyboard and mouse with that, because laptop keyboard + trackpad are annoying.

Ok, that's good to hear. I didn't think it'd run on "intel hd graphics 5500" There's plenty of machines out there with reasonable enough spec (intel i3/5 processors) but they all have onboard graphics. I thought I needed something with an ati or nvidia mobile chipset.
If I can find something cheap enough I'll be able to get away with it! |

From personal experience I can tell you that Acer Aspire One with Intel HD3600/GMA3600? will login, but you will not be able to do anything.
In conclusion, anything with Intel HD4xxx/GMA4xxx or better should be able to run EVE.

My biggest problem with running Eve on my laptop is the screen is kind of cluttered, but it's a slightly older one.

You can find external video card adapter, which until more recently, were only designed to work with laptops.
In other words, I more recently found a new case which can connect an external video card to a desktop PC.
However, all those other external video card adapter would run an EVE compatible video card on a laptop, and were first designed to do so. The rest is not hard to compare except for the fact that laptop specs tend to be outputting less results than their PC equivalent. In other words, you could use more RAM, more processor speed and more hard disk space to run EVE (very feasible).
I heard of people running EVE on their laptops, I just couldn't confirm what video adapter systems were integrated (yet).

jason hill wrote:depending on your budget ...then this is what you should be looking at I bought an $800 laptop in January of this year but I never had the system.
I'd been better off using the money to help solve communication problems with family instead though.
Someone I know needed only $400 to get a laptop with a keyboard in their own language which they could have used for work and telecommunications.
(That $400 doesn't include the $35 a month for internet costs, with installation costs possibly to be added on top of that.) |

I run two clients on low-medium settings very comfortably on a relatively modest laptop (i7 4500u, 8GB, 820M 2GB). |

Right, so there are laptop video cards that are in laptops that can run EVE Online.
I just never found any that does yet, and so it would be easier for me to get an adapter (external video card adapter). |
